Mental Omega - Testing Offensive Super Weapons

- SuperWeapons can cause massive damage to enemy bases and armies. They are only available if the option before the game begins is checked which quite shows that are very dangerous and can turn the tide of the game.
There are overall four offensive Super Weapons in Mental Omega with the new addition of the "Great Tempest". The other three Super Weapons remain pretty much the same with of course some tweaks in damage.
The Great Tempest which is available to the new faction Foehn seems to be the best overall Super Weapons. When casted it deals damage over time with the final damage being higher than any of the other three. It can cause severe damage to bases nearly destroying all of the structures.
This video was done during version 3.3.4

The main reason behind the lighting storm being weaker in MO is that it used to fire a lightning bolt at the centre of the selected area once every 10 frames in YR; this has been changed to 100 frames. The damage was buffed against bigger structures but nerfed against defences.

Dude I'm so addicted to this mod that I almost beaten every maps of it. Especially playing it on Ultimate Alliance mode with Mental AI. Very chaotic. lol

Oh, since last week I started to play Mental Omega, so I wanted to suggest you to test this mod, but you already did this. You are mind-control, who stole my thoughts xD
Glad to see MO Content, even made its way to the Mental Omega discord server.
Regarding a few things in here just to clear up how the tempest works and why it seemed so much more effective to my current understanding of the mod:
The Tempest actually does more damage the bigger the structure is over a number of tiles (the more tiles the more damage it will take), so it really goes to town on 3x3 and most 4x4 structures, however 2x2 and single tile defences (in the case of defences having really strong armour in this current version of the mod aswell) just don't take as much damage, however armour interactions save some structures like the Con Yard. The same can definitely be said of the Psychic Dominator aswell, working on similar veins. Nuclear missile is kind of in between its alpha strike on a single building and the reaction with its armour and hitpoints rather than X tiles large a structure is. Tempest has problems killing some of the T3 tech structures (Pandora Hub I'm looking at you) Weather Control device is much the same, but with more alphastrike in its lightning. It is currently quite underpowered in terms of base deletion power in contrast to the others.
Another thing. I noted you omitted the Psychic Dominator test against vehicles, is there any reason?
Other than that, happy to see something like this being featured - MO is vastly different compared to vanilla YR, so get ready for a whole new ride.

Topaz Jaun I guess cause dominator don’t harm units, including infantry and vehicle. So no point to test dominator against vehicles.
Dominator doesn't harm allied units so there wasn't anything to show!

They nerfed the Allies and made Foehn and Soviets very OP in this game hahaha
Paired with that target marking support power, US is the only faction you can one-shot any SW or conyard with your own SW namely weather storm. Poor EA and PF though lol.
According to lore the new superweapon the tempest is also using weather machine tech like the allies

P.S if your still doing more of this, then I’m looking forward on your comments to the new units like Archers,Bloaticks, etc. And if your doing the heroes, start with Tanya as usual. She no longer has dual pistols but instead has a Laser gun. She can still instantly kill enemies from GIs to Initiates, but Knightframes require two shots. She can also kill vehicles form a distance. Her new ability is to instantly kill all units in a garrisoned building without damaging the building.

All I know that Foehn's super weapon can kill aerial units
Also things that you need to know or just a fun facts from a veteran.
-Almost all unused content from RA2YR are used in a other shape or form
-in RA2YR Allied Lightning Storm attack doesn't have the fast firing, focused fire lightning anymore. It became more realistic now. Also side note if you test the lightning storm in a small islet or a sea rock or anything that a small little things on the sea/water, will cause too many debris to shoot out.
-Each factions have sub factions which have different heroes. Some have two in onw faction.
-Tanya is like the new Boris now
-Morales is better than Natasha
-dogs doesn't have to jump into the enemies except for the superior dog, Chitzkoi. Also he is also kinda annoying if use it randomly.
-I'm not so clear about this but some super weapons can damage air units but the Tempest is the only super weapons that can actually kill air units.
-some units are balanced, replaced, change, and buffed.
-scud launcher, the new V3 rocket, is terrifying. If u use it you will know why.
-Guardian GI always carries his AT weapon
-Genetic Mutator is no more inteaf it is replaced with Rage, a support weapon that increases damage of your units.
-Foehn doesn't have dogs
-All factions have a spy except Foehn. Foehn's "spy" is a infiltrator.
-some units have two ways of attack.
-repair IFV has a range now
-some old units from RA1 are back
-Boris is gone. Play the story to know
-giant squid is back to its rightful owner.
-Yuri Prime is not playable anymore
-there are still some 'campaign only' units
-to get the stolen tech, u have to infiltrate it's battle lab and mcv
-Speaking of MCV it is now a semi early access. Meaning u have to reach tech 2.
-Service depots are gone. But in soviet it is change.
-Yur.. I mean Epsilon. Has a anti air/tank infantry.
-Slave miner is gone.
-RA2YR OP units are now buffed like the Prism Tank.
-Mirage Tank is now a anti tank
-Flak splash Damage is gone but used in China's Sentinel and soviet amphibious transport.
-Flak is now a AT weapon like how it accidentally was.
-some units have two modes. For example new Mirage Tank has steady mode, it won't attack until ordered, and active mode, basically normal mode.
-Most Foehns infantry are upgradable.
-Foehn miner are also a repair vehicle.
-MO IS HARD.
-oh I forgot At Foehn's sub faction Wings of Coronia has another Superweapon called Harbinger. So technically Wings of Coronia has a two super weapon. Hailhead too but it's from a unit but still.
Soviets are OP now, especially China
Allies are nerfed, with Pacific Front being the worst imho

@@josenotmarichan imo allies are good especially America. But in two other factions kinda meh. I always go for defensive tactics then offensive.
The Harbinger is more of an Epic unit than a Superweapon, like the Boidmachine with its Boid Blitz or the M.A.D.M.A.N. Also, Allied Epic Unit when? Soviet got 2, Epsilon got 1 and Foehn 3 but Allied none?
@@xenotyphon Paradox Engine is Allied's Epic Unit,Soviet have the buffed Apocalypse for fun with Centurion plus SCUD,Yuri has Irkalla and Death Hand while Foehn has no gigabtic epic units that are locked away T-T
@@josenotmarichan The Pacific Front are often used Allied Forces by the Pros when it comes Online. Their Anti-Air Skyray Cannon defense is pretty much solid.
I like how this mod adds selection sounds for the buildings, wasn't a thing until Generals (I think). You always gotta have marching and/or weapons loading when selecting a Barracks, of course.

The Weather Storm in Yuri's Revenge is have the targeted spot strikes with countless lightning storms. They are suppose to spread the storms in this mod, not reducing the storms strikes from original.
The Allied Forces in Mental Omega is badly nerfed but it's still good. But in online games most people prefer the Soviet Union

I know very minimal about this mod. Tried it before. Too hard. Left it alone.
So I guess comparison videos from this gotta have a "wow experience".
It's actually really easy but it's very very different from the vanilla yr so when I started it it kicked my ass I will admit but once I understood the changes it became easier (like how the base defences were buffed by a lot so you had to use special siege units to break defences lol) but it would still kick my ass once in a while

As a Mental Omega player, I do agree It's pretty hard and sometimes unbalanced but once you get used to it's patterns, it's pretty easy to beat. (Or you could spam Wolfhounds for both defensive and offensive. lol)

Seems they also put a delay on the psychic dominator, which is actually a significant nerf (for the better) given there is now a proper chance to dodge the mind control aspect. It was technically possible in YR as well because the mind control would only happen after certain frames of the animation, but that window is very small.
Finally mental omega video
From experience, I can say some things.
The Psychic Dominator got buffed slightly. From testing it on a Nuclear Reactor in YR and MO, YR Dominator brings the health to one square while MO can destroy a reactor completely (Dominator is aimed at the center of the building)
I view how much damage the Great Tempest does by how much hp is remaining when the AI starts repairing them. When the superweapon is directly on or 1-2 tiles off of a production building, it gets destroyed. Tesla Reactor, Allied Power Plant, and the Bio Reactor share the same fate as the prod buildings. The Nuclear Reactor goes down to one square of hp if repaired during all of Great Tempest, as does the Windtrap.

The reason why the great tempest looks like it's on the screen wasn't because of perspective mistakes but because it's a 3d (4d?) sphere so no matter where you looks at it it will look like it's towards you (Just like a black hole).
This is why at the end of the animation the perspective is correct (the explosion), because the tempest is 3d (4d?) while the explosion is not
Also, the Domination can mind control forever units that affected by Domination
Same goes to the original one

I think the harbinger is not a superweapon but a support weapons.

So finally u make Mental Omega vid. But in MO not like in vanilla, u cannot spam one type of unit to win. U have to combination each other with other types of Units.
An important note to make the foehn may seem to have the best superweapon but the important distinction is it does its damage gradually so you can save some structures by repairing as soon as they get damaged that paired with the weaker blast furnace make foehn a bit of a trickier faction to play. Nuke and dominator are better for guaranteed structure damage foehn is better for units and lightning storm is a good balance of range and immediate damage

I dont know if the weather storm is weaker in this mod. The weather storm is random and if you use it 10 times in the same area you might get different results.
The weather machine is weak because the allies obviously have the backwarp, the most Op and abusive support power in the game which makes all your units unkillable war machine
And US has Mercury Strike and Pacific Front has Hunter Seeker that can finish off whatever survived the Weather attack

It's not effective vs AI though. They have a tendency to automatically repair their structures when damaged even if it's just a tiny amount of damage.

Tempest is stronger in midrange rather than in epicenter, that's why it took down Nuclear Reacotr.
And also. Thought Weather Storm seems the weakest one, USA is the only country who may take down enemy's SW from burst (with additional Target Poiter), so..)
Great Tempest is stronger coz Foehn doesn't have a support power that can directly damage structure (excluding the Boidblitz which requires deploying the Boidmachine near enemy base)
Would it be possible to maybe test the Mental Omega defenses against each other?

...as well as Grand Cannon vs Hammer Defense vs Antares Battery vs Plasmerizer.
Plasmerizer is way stronger, test with Neutralizer instead... also add the Tech Artillery Bunker

I don't really like the Great Tempest. It has no signature feature like for example the Psychic Dominator mind-controlling units in the epicenter. Also, wasn't the Lightning Storm temporarily disabling radar in vanilla when active ?
The Internal Balance team has been trying to figure out how to buff the Lightning Storm since it's very obvious it's the weakest super weapon out of all of them. It should be a bit better in the next patch.
Weakest power is Yuri cuz damage on tenks is 0....Its more expensive damage tenks then buildings

It turned out to be a cool video. The abundance of special effects is off the scale for a square second. The screen cracked.
And the new superweapon is bullshit that shouldn't be there. I would still understand if the faction itself was fucking weak and would be played defensively.
3:03 I wouldn't be so sure. Because then the storm does not leave a single building intact: 3:33. Obviously, the storm is just selective in its goals. This is an example of a successful balance. And the new weapon is for pussies.
And what the hell it was necessary to weaken the protection of shipyards, it is completely unclear. Have water and underwater defenses finally appeared in the game?

I guess the thing that makes weather storm a bit better is its' chaotic targeting, harder to manage a clean-up and repair than ye olde predictable nuke. The damage is really lame for storm tho, that's for sure.
