    Child pageants are a form of child abuse in my eyes. Children shouldn't be forced to perform for the entertainment of adults. Furthermore, many of these children are forced to wear clothes and make-up that imitate adults, and I don't think I have to spell out why that can be dangerous, given how many creeps there are in the world.

      Not to mention how it messes up those Little Girls, sending them the message that looks are all that matters. I see nothing wrong with letting your little girl play dress up. But clip on teeth and dressing them up like Women doesn't seem right to me. I know of one former Child Beauty Padgent Contestant who's Mum had definitely screwed up her life. Her Mum was still pushing her into Beauty Padgents as a Teenager. She definitely was teaching her to value looks over anything else to an extreme level. Her Mum was doing her daughter's Homework, meanwhile that poor girl could barely spell her own name. They were on a TV Show once.

    The one thing I'm always confused about from America is ownership, and the EXTREME LENGTHS you're allowed to go to protect your ownership.
    I love nature, but I would NEVER want to explore nature in America.
    Just the idea that I could accidently step on land that someone owns, and that they then have the right to kill me just scares me so much that I just rather avoid America altogether.
    Now I know that the idea might be extremely exaggerated in my head thanks to media, but just the idea that it can be legal for one citizen to kill another citizen is just beyond me.

    • @timothyreel716
      @timothyreel716 2 года назад

      In some extreme cases, that's true, but that's a rare and is usually in a area out in the country, but in city limits the most you would get is a restraining order & that's if you are snooping around & causing property damage, not if you accidentally step on someone's land. Yeah the fake news lies about everything!!!🙄

    • @kunilsen2519
      @kunilsen2519 2 года назад +13

      I know right! Sometimes I just want to explore the nature around me. Go off the path, or find my own path.
      I am still afraid of accidentally coming across someone's house/land, but most likely they will understand it was an honest mistake. If they even bothered to care in the first place. And if they do care, they will just tell me to leave. And I would apologize and leave, not at all afraid if the person has a gun ready and loaded...
      But I would never dare to explore anywhere in America!
      I would not be surprised if the media makes it seem worse than the average experience is, but it still scares me lol

    Hi there!
    To respond to the Homeowners associations creation, please don't blame the french for what the americans made of it over the centuries.
    It was never put in our Civil Code by Napoleon. The Civil Code was created to give all the people the same rights after our revolution. Homeowners associations were allowed to prevent any harm to the environment and water by putting the money in common if any work was necessary to protect the forests, lands etc in residential areas. It was never about what kind of fence you can use.
    Americans Homeowners associations twisted what we established to basically keep away any "non white" people from the neighborhood back in late 19th century. Very different application. And sad. Really.

    Dutch perspective (the Netherlands):
    1. I remember when commercials were only between two programs (damn, feeling old 😅). In the Netherlands we have them during programs a lot, but still not as much as in the USA. How I know? When watching an American made tv serie, there are these regular blackouts during the show, that is when in the USA there would be a commercial.
    And yes, we only have medical commercials for things like ibuprofen.
    2. HOA, we have something a bit similar, but mostly only for appartement buildings. For maintaining and cleaning the shared spaces. Not for whole neighborhoods. And not with ridiculous rules.
    3. I really don’t understand the USA people accept that. But that is the same with other topics like healthcare, etc.
    4. Yes, we sometimes look at the USA as you look at Florida. 😂
    5. So glad we do not have that here. And why is this practice? Just because then items look cheaper than they really are.
    6. We tip in the Netherlands, it is just not mandatory or frowned upon if you don’t. Me personally, I usually round up the bill to a convenient number, like paying 50 euros if the bill is 47. Or more, if in a larger group. This also means that the waiters are not pressing you to eat and leave. We usually don’t go out to eat every week, for us it is a treat. So it is an all evening thing, like start at seven, leave at eleven. Taking our time.
    7. Child beauty pageants. 🤢
    8. My parents went to the USA some years ago and yes, they noticed the portion sizes. 😂
    9. Seems your bread is considered cake in Europe because of the sugar level…
    10. I would be mortified to use those toilets.😮
    11. In the Netherlands you can legally own a gun or rifle. It is just very highly regulated. Most for hunting, sometimes for sport. Extensive background checks, training, etc. Strict rules about what firearms are allowed, how to store them and ammunition. It is not in our culture and not many shootings ( if there are it is between criminals) so not many people feel the need to own one.

    In terms of weight it’s not that bigger people don’t exist here, it’s more that there’s more bigger people in the US and it wasn’t till I visited the US that I realised how big a person could be - I was genuinely shocked. The two main differences are the food additives and portions - as you’ve heard from lots of American expats they lose weight in Europe even if not eating less or still eating junk food, and the second factor is walking. There’s much more of a walking culture here.
    But of course there’s plenty of Americans that are much slimmer too, and plenty that are health conscious like yourselves. But it’s human nature for the differences to stand out to us

    I assume a home ownership association is kinda like a service charge that you commonly get with apartment developments?

    • @TheDemouchetsREACT
      @TheDemouchetsREACT  2 года назад +1

      Yes and no. Regulation and rules are expected in apartment complexes when renting. HOA has regulations and rules for home owners within their neighborhood.

      @@TheDemouchetsREACT I'm from London and I'm a home owner of an apartment. We all pay a service charge for the development to cover the cost of gardening, security, maintenance, energy etc etc

      American HOAs will often have rules about what color you can paint your house, what kind of plants you can have in the yard, etc. And those rules are often extreme.

    But you looks like the country of extremes. It can be scary sometimes.
    When you need to eat, you can eat a full room. But you can also being shot at the street..it’s weird.
    Big populated countries problems I guess. China, Russia, Nigeria, India, Brazil have theirs too😂😂.
    It ‘s an emotional roller coaster.

    HOA isn’t a thing however in some EU countries you pay a “condominium fee” in apartments which is a double-edged sword. You pay it so the condominium can outsource cleaning and repairing HOWEVER the price can be often unfair. In our case we got the worst possible since the person responsible doesn’t live in the complex so we’ll have an elevator out of order in an 8 story apartment for days at a time, have the shittiest company fix it just to have it break down in a months time. Welp, I guess it makes up for the fact we don’t have to clean the complex ourselves since I can’t imagine cleaning this beast alone.

    Lol, yeah, I can't deal with the commercials in the US. It actually makes me slightly angry because I think I'm being talked down too and almost forced to buy. I don't enjoy that bombardment. having said that, I enjoy the 'trashy' day-time TV, lol.

    Drug ads in NZ, too. (the only other country in the world to allow it) But only for over the counter stuff like paracetamol and such. Relatively well regulated, but there are rumours flying around about the possibility of it coming to an end.

      That's what we have in France too. But they're becomin very rare because the ANSM (the National Agency for Meds Safety) takes the verification of each ad very seriously and the list of conditions to be able to broadcast any med ad is a complete nightmare for the labs. No prescription meds is rule number 1.
      I think we mostly see them in the winter, like lozenges if your throat hurts, or nasal spray... we also have homeopathic meds to help you sleep or if your baby's teething.

    Well, commercials are not solely an American problem. I don't know how much an average advertising block would last within the movie or between two movies but we in Poland are already annoyed by 20-minute long commercial breaks within a movie on our TV channels and by the fact that EVERY TV channel has advertising blocks in the same time so you can't really just change the channel to watch something else. And of course laxatives commercials ALWAYS when you have lunch 🙃

    We have 'burger buns' and 'hot-dog rolls' in UK; they are horribly sweet to me and I would rather have an ordinary roll. As for public toilets, a month in China would cure you of shyness, where there are no cubicles, let alone doors.

    I just had to come back with a new comment about an announcement I came across today. If you're in the mood for a Choccie (Chocolate 🍫) Bar and like Snickers Bars you'll soon be able to buy one of our High Quality ones easily. China is very upset at the moment they've lost their contract to make them, it's been given to New Zealand instead. They make the ones we buy I our Aussie Supermarkets and they'll soon bee available in the American Grocery Stores. I know you guys try to eat reasonably healthy diets, but if you want something sweet and like Snickers there you go.
