    1) YES to release order. At times it's actually very important.
    2) Don't forget the end credit scenes!
    3) ignore anyone that says to skip this or that movie. Watch them and make up your own mind. Yes, there are a few duds, but not everybody hates them and you may end up liking them. And even the not so good movies often affect the future.

    • @LOSFOUFOUP

That basically cover the most important tips. Only missing the 4) Watch the old spider-man movies before the new ones if you haven't. But that's me getting way ahead of myself.

100% agree with Bryan, also look out for Stan Lee (does lots of cameo's, very influential in Marvel comics. The Marvel content is much bigger than just the MCU & there are other properties worth viewing like the Sony (Spiderman), Fox (Xmen, Deadpool, Wolverine, Fantastic Four), Netflix shows (Daredevil etc...), they should all be in release order, but they are kind of their own thing. At some point it's worth talking to someone that wont spoil for you, someone that knows these properties, a Patreon(s), a Bryan, anyway going to shut up & enjoy now

The origin story in the film is actually quite close to the comics, with a key difference being the location. Iron Man was introduced in Tales of Suspense #39 (1962), during the Vietnam War, and that’s where his origin story originally took place. In the updated version, Tony Stark’s military demonstration happens in the fictional country of Siancong, introduced to retcon characters tied to the Vietnam War.
Tony tripped a booby trap, which lodged shrapnel near his heart and killed his escort. Captured by the terrorist leader Wong-Chu, Stark was told he would die within a week unless he built a weapon for them. Given access to a lab with fellow captive Professor Ho Yinsen, Tony built a powered suit of armor to keep himself alive and escape, equipped with weapons to fight his captors. Like in the film, Yinsen sacrificed himself to buy Tony time to complete the suit and escape.
After returning to America, Tony publicly revealed the existence of the suit but kept its true origin a secret, along with his identity as Iron Man. This led to the "bodyguard" cover story, which Happy briefly references in the movie. However, unlike the comics, Tony boldly reveals that he is Iron Man in the film.
Why the retcon? Marvel operates on a "sliding timeline," where significant events in its history shift forward so that characters don’t age in real time. If characters' origins were still tied to the Vietnam War, they would now be too old for present-day stories. To resolve this, Marvel introduced the fictional Siancong War, a more modern conflict based on the Vietnam War, allowing characters like Iron Man to stay relevant without aging them out of the current timeline. For the film they just set the movie to the backdrop of War in Afghanistan.
It's also worth mentioning that there was a deleted end credit scene featuring Nick Fury in which he references "assorted mutants," a nod to the X-Men. This was Marvel's way of laying the groundwork for potentially introducing the X-Men or, at the very least, indicating that the MCU would be an interconnected universe like the comics. However, since Fox owned the rights to the X-Men, this scene was ultimately removed, and mutants were never mentioned again. In the comics, The X-Men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four all exist within the same shared universe. Unfortunately, because Fox owned both the Fantastic Four and X-Men, those properties were off-limits for the MCU at that time.

    • @LittleGalaxyBoy
      @LittleGalaxyBoy 2 дня назад +7

For the most part, the MCU draws from the mainline comics (Earth-616) while also incorporating elements from the Ultimate Comics, a reimagined and modernized continuity that began in the 2000s with Ultimate Spider-Man. For instance, in the Ultimate Universe, Iron Man has a completely different origin story: Tony Stark is diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. In his search for a cure, he meets a young boy named Sam, who is undergoing chemotherapy. After Sam's death, this experience motivates Tony to create the Ultimate version of the Iron Man suit, allowing him to help others while also keeping himself alive.
In the Ultimate Universe, the Avengers are referred to as The Ultimates, and many character origin stories are depicted in a more "grounded" manner. As a result, their narratives differ significantly from those in the mainline comics, providing a distinct take on these characters. One notable element the MCU adopted from the Ultimate Universe is the casting of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. This decision was inspired by the Ultimate comics, where Nick Fury was modeled after Jackson's likeness. Interestingly, when Jackson discovered this, he contacted Marvel and learned they were planning a film, expressing their desire for him to portray Nick Fury.

I hope you enjoy your MCU journey! I know you alluded to not liking some of what you'd already seen, and honestly, even as a big fan of the MCU, I think there are a lot of rough patches. IMO the best of the "phase one" films are (fittingly) Iron Man, and Captain America - The First Avenger. Thor will be an interesting watch for you. In the first couple of movies (especially the first one) he has a very Shakespearean style (the movie was directed by Kenneth Branagh, of Hamlet fame). It's quite the contrast to the goofiness that ensues in the later Thor stuff like Love And Thunder.
Most of the other movies in phase one are today a bit forgettable for me, but it all serves as background material and groundwork for everyone's eventual team-up to conclude phase one with The Avengers. And, The Avengers is pretty fun! IMO once you get to phase two and especially three (concluding with Avengers - Endgame), the ratio of hits to misses improves quite a bit. Seeing Endgame in a theatre remains one of my favourite movie memories.

Not sure how far you're ahead, but I thought I'd add a heads up. They recast Rhodey for Iron Man 2 after contract disputes, so Don Cheadle takes over (for the better, in my opinion). As for the military's reaction to Tony in Gulmira, to them an unknown entity came in, launched a military strike with technology they've never really seen, and left in minutes. They're way more concerned with Tony in that moment.
Fun fact: Burger King was chosen as the burger Tony eats when he gets back home because RDJ credits them with playing a part in getting clean. Supposedly he was high and went to get food from Burger King and it disgusted him so much that he got all of his drugs and threw them in the ocean. Not sure if it was him disgusted at the meal or just kind of disgusted by the moment/his life or what, but I've always found it hilarious as to how they became the product placement.

The actor who played Yinsen was also fantastic. Great chemisty between him and Tony and was really the catalyst for Tony’s growth as a person. Toss-up between him and Tony for my favorite character in this movie.
One thing that I wish was explored more was how much Obie’s betrayal would have affected Tony. He was basically the closest thing Tony had to family since his parents died, looking after him like an Uncle (which is partly why Obie said he’d been “propping” Tony up for 30 years - he’d literally known Tony since he was a child).

It still boggles my mind that Iron Man alone worked, not to mention the MCU itself. Because on paper, starting a film franchise starting with a character nobody besides hardcore comic fans had even heard of, and starring an actor whose talent could be outshined by personal issues... well, that's not a recipe for success.
But I have to give Marvel credit, it (mostly) worked. And, for a while, they could literally do no wrong.
Also, couldn't agree more that 'Love and Thunder' sucked.

So the US Military going after Iron Man is a result of Tony breaking a No Fly Zone. Making it illegal for Aircraft Not Registered or Authorized to go through it.

It has been a while, Mrs. Kali. I finally decided to check in. From time to time, I would watch a reaction, but I just focused on other things. It is nice to see your sense of humor is still there. I like it. Nice channel picture btw.
Hehe, welcome to the MCU. I only watched up to the third Spider-Man film because I kind of lost interest afterwards. But I don't mind tagging along for the ride. Iron Man, huh... 2008... Gee, that takes me back to Middle School. I can't believe it's been that long for me. Hm... honestly, I thought Obadiah Stane was an interesting character. His actor was excellent. I feel like we could've gotten more of a story for him. He feels convincing as a villain. I don't want to just pick Tony because he seems like an obvious choice for a favorite. Obviously, he is one of the best written characters in the MCU. Favorite scenes? The one where he just had enough, flew into a war zone, and just went to town with the bad guys. I love them being taught a lesson. And the one scene where he cuts the power to his suit and goes crashing down through his roof, onto his car, and his robot sprays him when he specifically asked for it not to do that 😅 Very funny.
I hope you like the gift I got for you from your throne site. I felt like it was time to step back in and... I kind of wanted to get you something to make up for myself. I am formerly a blue poet. Now... I am Odin's poet. I have done some self-exploring in my absence.

I love all the MCU films except for two.
One that I thought was very flawed and could have been better
    and one I genuinely disliked.
All the others are either good, great or amazing (at least for me they are)
Oh... and I love the shows as well... (likewise... some are good, some are great and some are amazing)

"End Game" is peak Marvel and you can stop there with exception of GOTG 3, and maybe Loki series. After the Russo Bros opus Disney corporate sank the ship. It's ok to pick and choose, allow yourself to be surprised and you like what you like and you don't like what you don't like.

i still recommend that you do reactions to those that you have seen, just because as you go along on the MCU, like most of us have over the years, the story line will build up and you may have different understanding or different feelings/emotions on the later released films just because you will have gained knowledge and understanding from earlier released films. As you go along, there will be other films you should also watch which I assume you already know or your fans will comment on what to watch next. Anyways, I always love when somebody takes the journey through the MCU. Hope you enjoy it.

I absolutely LOVE the whole first act of the movie with him escaping captivity. I could probably watch an entire movie of everything that happened there. Just the whole theme of having to invent and build under pressure, not to mention how cool it is to see him in the suit for the first time! Also, gotta love him and Yinsen's dynamic. Speaking of great dynamics, YES I also love Pepper's character! The two of them are so funny together, and their emerging romance doesn't feel forced, and isn't overdone here. Teenage me when I first saw this movie had such a crush on her, oh boy 🤣 But for adult me, fire extinguisher robot has my heart LOL
You always have me jamming in these intros with the songs you've been picking lately haha. Also the new edit style with the movie down in the corner looks great! And I imagine it's so much easier for you to edit too, not having to move your camera bubble around to avoid blocking things. Looking forward to the rest of this react journey! Most MCU movies I haven't watched in years, or just not at all, so really excited to get on this journey myself too!

If you dislike Love and Thunder, there is a reason. It is the same reason Endgame is the last good Marvel movie.
Btw. Spider-Man is a Sony product and all of them are good to great. This includes Ramiverse, Spectacular, and current Spidey.
For good tv. Agents of Shield is a good show. Daredevil is fantastic, and the first season of Jessica Jones. Only the first season.

It's actually up to you, which order you would start in. Both are good. I started with chronological order (On Digital Spy you have whole list with both TV shows and movies) and understood everything.
And that the scenes after the credits are spoilers is a fact, but for me, watching for the first time, they made no impression. They made no sense. Anyway, I forgot about them because they were just scenes, I was much more focused on the film or series itself.
Anyway, enjoy the ride, and brace yourself 🤫

I never thought this would become so huge as it did, back in the day. The vision most of us had from Iron BEFORE this movie was... pretty crappy to be honest. One of those wannabe heroes. Back then pop culture said the world belonged to superman, batman, spiderman... very few people cared about iron out from some marvel nerds.
You could try the Tarantino movies. Great movies that tend to cause strong impressions, funny reactions.

Agree with the release order with one minor exception: Black Widow. It takes place right after Civil War and I would argue it becomes a much better movie if watched at that time. The only caveat if you go this route is that you CAN'T watch the post credit scene until after Endgame.

Sry, have to write this, before I watch this. Who would ever think, that it is a good idea to watch such a series of movies in chronological order rather than the release order? You can do that, if you have already seen the movies, but please, never consider something like that for a first watch. This goes for movies as well as for video games or any type of media in general. Whoever tells you otherwise, please ignore them. Thank You! 😉
