Somehow I could saw that he is smart in Running Man. He, Jongkook, and Kwangsu are book smart. Gary learned Mandarin, and always good in chinese. idiom (4ja). Kwangsu always good at Math (He just not that strategic person). Jongkook is book smart and his experience in so many reality show made him street smart (although not as good as Haha cunning brain), and his english is good. Soomin is smart too.
I believe he is pretty smart, after all he is a songwriter and produces music. Gary is naturally good with words. He is just not so strong in the general knowledge department haha. Only jaesuk is strong in general knowledge because he reads the papers every day.
