He is the very best Beethoven player of all time, you have to ask 100.000 people on the street in germany to find someone who knows this grandmaster, so sad....
It's a pity that nowadays you almost only hear these extremely fast, precipitate and washed out versions of the third movement. Kempff still knew the importance of rhythmical accuracy and how to give importance to every single note.
Do you know what year this recording is from? It's done absolutely perfectly and with such feeling. I'd like to get hold of the exact same rendition. Thanks!
Believe it or not, there is a slightly better version out there. The pianist is on video performing live and he is quite old. Even though there are some unfortunate noises from the audience, I think the piece surpasses even this one. The other piece has a bit more emotional nuance. Of course, the pianist is Wilhelm Kempff once again. Who else?
Every time I hear Beethoven's moonlight I am amazed how a man has managed to write such Divine music. And Kempf is the best interpreter of it.
I think Kempf has been the best for this sonata... Beethoven would be proud of him
Mr. Right Tempo: Wilhelm Kempff, his performings of this sonata are great!
Painfully beautiful.
Recorded January 1965. At the time he was 69 years old.
😂

We’ve really lost our culture over time.
@@mondola facts. It’s really unfortunate
I don’t doubt that he is. The only version of MS that I like better than this one is another Kempff video.
Meraviglioso, ecco questa esecuzione è bella
His moon light sonata is best, and I like movie version, the movie version is fantastic!
🌹
I have known this performance as textbook for those who would be pianist.

Not just nowadays. Gould’s version is so fast I had to set RUclips to x0.75 to hear the way it’s meant to be played.
According to Beethovens apprentice Carl Czerny the third movement is supposed to be played at Half note = 92. It is VERY fast
Merci M. Kempff. Votre génie est sans égal.
Senz'altro tra i migliori interpreti di Beethoven.
Prova a sentire il primo movimento così, a me ha cambiato l'ascolto ruclips.net/video/2H3EOEO2W7c/видео.html
Thank you for no adds.
ベートーベンの心情を弾く、そのようなケンプのピアノ。
grazie
베토벤이 있어서 행복합니다

Who else?
it's opus 27 not 13?
opus 27 no. 2 ( opus 13 Sonata pathetique )
Is this the momo or stereo recording?
Opus 13? Right...
