  • If someone told you they had the power to make you feel amazing, to not feel so stressed, depressed, anxious. To be fitter and healthier and to lose the constant mind fog from a thousand nights of sleeping badly. Wouldn't you take that?
After a highly stressful year in my professional life and a lifetime (or so it feels) of drinking more than is good for me, I've decided to have a break from the demon drink and go completely sober.
My challenge is to get to 100 days alcohol free. I'm already feeling 100% better and I'm only on day 9.
Join me on the journey, challenge yourself to go 100 days alcohol free.
I will be posting regularly across my social media with updates via the Moto Mogul channel, tips on giving up, staying off the sauce, the best (in my opinion) alcohol free alternatives, and the resources I've used to help me on my alcohol free journey.

I’ve wrestled with alcohol for many years on and off. I’ve quit many times and it isn’t easy but each time I quit it is a bit easier.
You’re right, it is difficult not to drink when you’re on tour with mates but not impossible as long as they are real mates who support you.
I like your idea of helping others with not drinking. I think you might be very busy with that. All the best and well done 👍

The first step go recovery is knowing and admitting you have a problem. Well done and good luck. I personally only ever drink if I have a bbq and never touch alcohol if I'm going on the bike, my addiction is coffee, cant get enough of it.

I never drank around biking, always rode sober. My problem was the consistency of my addiction. I was being honest with myself, I knew I was alcoholic but it’s a difficult beast to tame. Thanks Gavin 👍👍👍

It’s wonderful to see all the supporting comments Jack. You are building a very good RUclips channel which I continue to enjoy. Like a few others, the only time I indulge is when out with friends and my limit is 2 beers (my internals can’t cope with anymore), and nothing at home. No doubt you will enjoy the benefits of your decision. Wish you well on the Pico’s trip. The riding will be no problems however having watched Richy’s previous tours, the night-time shenanigans might be hard to avoid.

Although I am not completely tea total I very rarely drink these days and I feel no pressure to drink just because others are and I don’t miss it at all. If your tour buddies are real friends there will be no pressure on you to drink just because they are.

Well done Jack, that's one hell of an admission! That is a very brave thing to say in public but I'm sure when you travel to the Picos with RV it'll be just fine, when I was in my 20's and 30's I used to play football at the weekends or go watch (then) first division games, there was a big drinking culture but I never wanted to drink more than one or two pints, some twat might say "what's up with you man, can't you take it?" I'd just reply "I don't want any more, I don't need it and don't enjoy it" difficult when everyone else is "getting on it" these days I might have a pint a month.
If anyone takes the piss then they aren't worth bothering with, enjoy the trip for it's marvellous roads and scenery, the craic will be amazing and you'll come back buzzing, so happy to hear that your personal issues seem easier, life is hard enough without that shit hanging over your head and yes there are some nasty people out there, bastards who you need out of your life. Best wishes.

    • @motomogul
      @motomogul  2 года назад

Thanks David, yes it is a big admission and I’ve agonised over making it. I made this video about 5 times and deleted it every time. The way I see it is that, hopefully, people will support me with this battle. It makes it harder to go back to it as my addiction is now in focus.
I know the guys on the Picos trip will be fine with it, that wasn’t really the concern, what they’d say. Rather that if I take myself away from a drinking situation, I don’t want them to think I’m being weird at this early stage. I also felt I had an obligation to speak to Richy about what I’m going through, he’s the tour leader and he should be aware for everyone’s enjoyment. 👍

Well done Jack, my wife gave up five years ago and feels far better and I’ve decided to stop drinking at home in an effort to lose weight and feel better myself. Being a publican’s son alcohol has always been there and we don’t need it really, sadly it’s part of our culture but talking to friends many are making the same decision too. Anyway I do love a cup of tea…

I’ve always been fine with alcohol, which, looking at it now has been part of the problem. It’s just become normalised over the years. Which is the other part of the problem.
I can just feel myself getting more and more comfortable and the volume just goes up and up. I didn’t think I was an alcoholic, just a middle lane drinker. I keep analysing that point and trying to fight the label, I think it’s unhelpful regardless of how accurate it is.
