I have only started wearing wigs a few months ago. I have ruined a few. Months of watching You Tube things are starting to come together now. So much to learn. Thanks to the teachers and supporters out there in our wig community. I am so thankful.

I don't do any cutting with regular scissors I even cut linked with thinning shears. Especially bangs. If I'm going to cut the length of bangs I just had got them with thinning shears till I get them shorter and they look extremely natural. I had an old cheap wig that I was practicing on and tried to trim bangs with regular scissors and they looked hideous! I could not figure out how to cut the bangs without them looking terrible I tried twisting them and cutting the hair and that helped some but everything look choppy. When you trim them with thinning shears it does not look choppy at all it looks like they've been growing for a month or so and don't have a precise edge anymore. It looks just like when the stylist takes her scissors at an angle and clips into them at an angle, if that makes sense. I was saying in a post earlier that I like the Rene of Paris Tori and she is a cute little French Bob with bangs across the front but they're always way too long. She is probably the cutest cheap wig I've seen. Anyway I always have to cut the bangs and I cut them once with the thinning shears but always still too long and I just keep hacking at until I get him the right link because I don't want to cut them as short as I think they need to be the first time and get them too short because we all know it's not like our hair, it won't grow back. Well that's kind of like my hair LOL I lost 70% of my hair a few years ago and most of it grew back and then I lost half of it a couple years later. Every few years I keep having a dramatic hair loss. it's starting to grow back but this last time I cut it all off short so now I've got short hair. When you got short baby fine hair it's so much work that makes it look halfway decent. It has to be shampooed it has to have product in it and blow-dried and roll and flat ironed and... Or you can spray it with some dry shampoo like 10 or 15 minutes brush it out real well pull it back as far as you can into tea tiny ponytail or put on a wig cap and throw on a cute wig or throw handsome hat hair! I keep Jon renau hat hair braided in pigtail braids. In the summer I throw that on with the cute ball cap with rhinestones or a funky straw cowboy hat throw that on to go outside and play in the yard AKA weed eat, mow, work in the garden, ect...

Thanks for This segment. I have a ready for take off by Rachel Welch and because of my very narrow face I look better with a little bit of bangs. Would love to see a segment about cutting bangs.

Very helpful! I find Raquel Welch a pretty dense on the crown and up front type of wig but enjoy many of her styles. That trick about going all the way down to the cap is priceless - many videos skip that part and then you are still left with a lot of density at the base of the fibers. thank you!

I use thinning shears to cut wig bangs, especially bangs like ROP Tori. Such a parking French Bob, but those bangs are always way too long. If you use those thinning shears it takes forever to cut across those bangs but they'll never look chopped! They look so natural and I always start out too long so I really have to cut them twice but I'd rather cut twice since wigs don't grow LOL

Great job and nice tutorial Eileen:) Almost looks like a different wig now...looks so good. I have been thinking about getting Voltage but was concerned about how much hair it has. I like your method! I have, in the past, thinned my wigs while on my head...and I just "hit it" with the thinning shears very carefully and very sparingly in the thick spots. I will try your way next time!

Is there any kinds of tricks to know when your wig is too thick or when it's just too much permatease? I have a Dolce and I don't know if it's too thick or too much permatease. I know if you thin a wig that doesn't need to be thinned that it's just permatease all to heck he'll ruin it. I have never been able to wear Dolce or Sky out of the house. I don't know why everybody loves Sky by Noriko. it is so big on the top and I did thin it and I probably got it too short at the top so I need to thin the sides more to match the top. The back has never flipped up like it does in the pictures it just lays flat so it's just not cute. It lays flat in the back and then has way too much hair in the front. My Dolce has zero curl. It looks frizzy like it's 6 month old daily wear wig. it is just ugly and I can't do anything with it. I got it in chocolate Frost. I wear blond wigs but I bought ROP Tori in chocolate Frost and she's pretty blond. The knife is brown but the frost is so heavy all over the crown and sides and front of Tori with Dolce it is lightly frosted. It is more brunette than anything. I'd wouldn't mind if I could get it to look decent. I buy my wigs all from cysterwigs so I know I didn't just get a piece of junk or return. I buy returns from her and haven't even had problems with returns either, so I think I just got lemon. I ordered 3 tresallure wigs last month. One was packaged horribly. I didn't think it would ever be right. it was a short stacked bob similar to Jon renau ignite. The bangs that swept to the left or been straight up and over to the right. You could pull them over to the left and they would instantly been straight up and over to the right. Also the crown was package where the hair was bent in half straight up and frizz horribly on the ends. Luckily I've got one of those Helen of Troy hot brushes that any wig can handle. I sprayed a little bit of Jon renau hair spray on it after I wrapped it around that round brush. I turn the blow dryer on and let it heat up as much as that one does and then turned it off and held it there till it cooled off and the hairspray dried and gently slid it out took it off my head and put it on a wig form the next day I put it on and both areas were pretty much normal. I just kept hitting it with the heat of a blow dryer gently with a round brush and backing off because it's not heat friendly. I have a giant curling iron I got at Walmart for $5. Those great big cheap or the little cheap $5 Walmart curling irons do not get too hot for non heat friendly wigs. Patti from Patti's Pearl taught me that! my very first wig years ago was a Raquel Welch wig that flipped up in the back and it had lost its flip. I went to Walmart and bought a 1-inch $4.97 curling iron. I set down with my wig head on the end of a toilet plunger LOL and begin to curl the back and clip it with metal clip he's too cool I curled the whole back and clicked it just like I would if it were heat to fiant fiber. Once it all cooled I took all the clippies app I had too much left in the back but knew it would relax. The next time I wore it I put a little Jon renau wig gel in my hand and a spritz of water. I am also excited really well between my hands and just pick through it with my fingers and it loosens it up to the perfect amount. I don't know what I would do on mine on heat defiant wigs without my Helen of Troy round brush blow dryer and my $5 curling irons. The bristles on my Helen of Troy blow dryer are getting so bent over and beat up I'm going to have to buy another one. I've had this one for five years. That's not too bad considering they're about $12-$15! I will buy a new one every five years for that. and I can't seem to get any curl in that Dolce with a curling iron though the five or so heavy and long. I may have to put hot rollers in it or those static roller and steam it. I'm just not good at rolling it and knowing which direction to roll it for the cut that the Dolce is cut into.

Hi, yes the scissors do cut the wig; as for taming permatease have you tried to steam it? In my opinion that is a good way to tame some of the permatease (although I love permatease) there are times when it can be a bit too much. Please let me know if I can help further. xoxo eileen

I am confused at why the voltage I got is so shiny and looks so fake. Yours looks so different than the one I have...even the texture seems different. I bought the red, since my natural hair color is red, but there is no way I can wear it. Even the bangs on your wig look more natural. The bangs on my wig stick out and will not lay down like normal hair. I guess I will need a professional. I just don't understand it.

Hi; you can use a hot air brush to tame the bangs, can also use some dry shampoo to take care of the shine. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
