    I was running late to a date on the same day my twin passed away, but 20 years later. Safe to say I didn't make it to the date due to someone pulling out in front of me. I beg that the fellow bikers watching this wear a helmet! It if wasn't for my helmet I wouldn't be alive today and my family would have lost both my twin and I on the same day. You can't be cool while you're dead. Wear a helmet!

    Tips: wear gear, don’t drive faster than the speed limit

  • @BigBeardBuilds
    @BigBeardBuilds 6 лет назад +283

    I will agree that car had no business crossing your lane, you had right of way.
    .... but: You could have totally avoided that accident by:
    not going 60+ mph in that area, giving you more time to react
    learning how to properly evade an object (brake, then swerve, not at the same time)
    And if you would have worn a bit more gear instead of just your helmet, chances are you would've walked away unscathed entirely.
    If you drive like everyone is out to kill you (because they are) you are better prepared for situations like this. You are not a car. Don't behave like one.

    • @thomasramirez5370
      @thomasramirez5370 5 лет назад +7

      There were cars there going to go towards him so he kinda had to do 60 and no it was not 60+ it was 60 and that car was not really avoidable ya know look how far the cars is into the middle of both lanes if would have went off to the side he would have hit a rock and did the same thing and plus that is a big bike so you can't throw around a big bike. And even if he would have move he would've still had to hit the brake and he would also have to swerve lo re look at the video and always remember that not everything is avoidable.

    • @THEJake829
      @THEJake829 5 лет назад +64

      I'm sorry to say, but you are wrong. He could have avoided the accident. Now none of us actually being him in the scenario can say what was going through his mind, and not being in the panic mindset that occurs can we really have room to talk. But if you do watch the video there are a few things I would like to point out so that maybe someone won't experience this same outcome.
      1. Gear. Wear it. No questions, no exceptions. Both his shoulders and arms are skinned because he was not wearing a jacket.
      2. He was going to fast for the area. This is a residential area, max speed limit in this area would be 35 mph. Going 60 puts you at many disadvantages. That car was expecting him to be going that speed which would have given them the time to make the turn. Or he would have had the time to break or maneuver around it.
      3. The whole road was a surface he could have used. There was nobody behind the car he easily could have gone left to where the car was and never hit anyone. Bikes are very agile, if you know how to make it move. I would call myself an average rider leaning towards new as I've only been riding for about 2 years, but I can maneuver my CBR650f through tar snakes and pot holes at speed because it's something I've practiced. Knowing that there just might be a situation where I'd need to do just that.
      4. And lastly, as Dutchman says, you ALWAYS ride like everyone wants to kill you. Expect that nobody is looking, that no one is checking their mirrors, that everyone is on their phone. That way when they act like that, you know it's coming. And if they don't it's just a pleasant surprise.
      Anyone who reads this, please, learn from this mistake. It could just save your life.

    And his only concern is whether his camera’s still recording. Pro tip: he pulled out in front of you like that because you were going WAY too fast and he no reasonable expectation that you’d be on top of him so quickly. At a normal rate of speed, he would’ve been gone by the time you got there. And if you’re going to ride fast, please pay attention. You had room to maneuver your way around.

  • @OneTreeHill0930
    @OneTreeHill0930 4 года назад +18

    As a fellow rider we need to pay attention to our surroundings. First off, the rider is mostly to blame. He’s going 61 in a 35-45 zone. Secondly, you see in this video he speeds up when the cars already made the decision to turn in front of him. He has no gear on so of course that’s gonna be some painful road rash. Glad the kids alive but he seems to be mainly at fault. Cars can’t judge our speeds and how fast we are coming toward them. You should always slow down at intersections. Hopefully he learned from this experience. Lastly, drivers need to just not turn in front of bikes period. It’s better safe than sorry.

Going 25 over the speed limit *(51%)* and more IMPORTANTLY instantly accelerating from 43-65 in two seconds, makes it literally impossible for a person to accurately judge the oncoming speed. Fault of the CAR- YES!. Better to wait an extra minute than go in front.
      But the Motorcyclist created an optical illusion fooling the car drive AND deprived himself of safe stopping distance, or maneuvering room.

      @MrGigi Nonsense. Going almost double the speed limit causes people to misjudge distance. Had he shared this video with insurance, he would be 100 percent at fault.

    Major Reason: Too fast (72 mph, 115km/h), Lack or gear. Lack of lookout.
    Minor Reason: Opposite vehicle (perhaps) not indicate.
    Honestly, A motorcycle approaching double the legal speed is not what any drivers are obligated to foreseen.

      @@Twin-Nick Nah man, you just can't think objectively. However, since it's been five-to-six years, maybe now you understand how your actions heavily contributed to this 'accident'. If somehow you still remain delusional, it'll happen again; you will bet your life on it...
      Glad you survived and appear relatively unharmed, my first kiss with asphalt was similarly terrifying. Nothing can really prepare an average person for it until it actually happens to them... The adrenaline dump is immediate and emotions are intense; but once calm returns and rational thought kicks back in, it is vitally important to evaluate what happened without making excuses or shifting blame. In this particular case, because all instances are indeed different, both parties were responsible and they both share the blame. Legal liability is for the living to decide, it doesn't mean anything to a corpse...
      -Have fun, but stay safe out there.

      @@Twin-Nick Hey Nick,
      my original reply got deleted for some reason so I'll reiterate it here:
      The channel isn't necessarily about people who are holistically "dimwitted" but rather, people who have moments of dim-wittiness while driving. Or, alternatively, how otherwise nice, normal people turn into dimwits once they get behind a steering wheel. Most of us have these moments from time to time. I do respect your refusal though. For what it's worth, I don't think you're a dimwit either.
      Thanks for taking the time to reply. Hope you have a good one!

    • @Twin-Nick
      @Twin-Nick  Год назад

      @@DimwitDrive I posted the video to show that watering a helmet can save your life when someone pulls out infront of you while you're on your bike. For what it's worth. I wasn't ticketed in any way shape or form from my accident. The man was ticketed up the ass and was sued. If u can post the video. Credit my channel and explain the purpose of the video is to spread awareness that helmets work than yes u can use it. The problem is we have keyboard warriors who think they know everything and are perfect when in reality they probably never touched a motorcycle nor even know why some people refuse to wear full lethal gear while sitting above a 120 degree motor while it's 95 degrees outside. So I hesitate to let ppl use the video to prevent the idiots being negative about it instead of be happy no one died.
