I got one today with AWD. The car is powerful if you turn off the ECON and use S instead of D. The S improves the acceleration and performance a lot. Most reviews do not mention about the S drive.
That's "Sport" mode. It removes the effects of Econ mode so that the engine gets direct drive from the accelerator. Much more responsive and way better 0-60mph times
Congrats Mark, that's awesome news! The EX is loaded and really unless you require leather, it makes the most sense to me. Enjoy it! Hopefully you've subscribed for more helpful videos!
I had 2015 Honda Civic - EX and I feel like this is the SUV version (I feel like the CRV is the SUV version of Accord bc it's longer).... Unfortunately I was in an accident and now are looking to get a bigger car to be safer. Really debating on this or the CRV.... This one seems so much more stylist and efficient on gas. After your review I think I'm positive I'm going for this car. Thank you so much for such a detailed review (not just about whats in the car but your personal experience really helps!)
Thank you for a very nice review. I particularly loved the camera function when turning to right. Here is a tip for all the car manufacturers: please add a button to the steering wheel which gives you a view backwards even when driving forward. Then you can have a better and safer understanding of what's happening behind you especially when having someone following you too close.
YOU are one great reviewer! You talked about the things I as a woman care about. I hope that is a CD player I noticed. I have a '17 Honda Fit that plays one CD at a time and since I have been burning all my own fave tunes I want a player in my car. I have been thinking about the HR-V as I have had a new CR-V in '07 and then a new '13 Civic and now my '17 Fit which was new when I bought it in '18. I've loved them all but prefer the higher ride. I heard Honda was discontinuing the CD player in newer models. **cry** Thanks for a great review. You will be the first reviewer I subscribe to.
the road noise sounds about as loud as it does in my 09 Civic. you kinda get used to it lol, when I drive other people's cars it feels weird not to get all that acoustic feedback lol
John Michael Carino, the HR-V comes in a bunch of handsome colors. My favorite is the Misty Green which looks like the color of moss. The color chips on "Build your HR-V" are not very true to color online, so just keep that in mind!
Yes you can. If you press the day/night button on the unit it will cycle and turn the screen off regardless of the unit being on or off (audio, navi etc).
Great question jey Chow, as of right now the answer is no, the HR-v does not offer Honda Sensing which includes Adaptive Cruise Control. I'm sure in the future it will be offered do to Honda's commitment to safety.
mast3min3 that is hard to say as it depends on transmission, drivetrain and availability in your area. Around here they typically sell around MSRP, to give you some idea.
skunk1955 as of right now Honda does not offer Honda Sensing on the HR-V, though I would expect to see it soon with safety standards and regulations heading the way they are.
Cool Kid! I don't need speed but the style of this suv looks like mini Acura mdx and I'm 5'5 inches tall...But do you think it's not going to stress the engine when you go to Las Vegas? I lived here in L.A. I mean you know the road is up hill ?
PEXMAN I have never been to the West Coast in the U.S. but I can say that here on the New England Coast we are mostly hills and mountains, the engine will be fine. Take one for a drive and you will get a good feel for how it will handle your needs.
Grappone Automotive Group Oops hehehehehe I thought your here in the US..Yah I've been thinking about it and also I've been a loyal Honda since 86 ..Thanks for replying and good day there in UK...God Bless...
& if your teeny tiny little Civic were to ever get hit by our most driven vehicle on the road (the Ford F150), you'd be dead. Instantly! With the HRV, you have a good chance of survival. Tons more room. AWD for rain & snow. More powerful engine.
explain me this.in europe we have just got the new honda civic.it starts with a 1l 127 bhp engine and then you get a 1.5l with 180 bhp.now here is the question.why put a 1.8l 140 bhp in the hrv, when you can put the new 1.5l 180 bhp engine in?they are both made by honda and i feel th 1.5 would be even more economical.why the 1.8l?can someone out there give a logical explanation?
When Honda introduced the HR-V they took the then current Civic engine which in the U.S was the 1.8L. The now current Civic of course has the 1.5T and it's safe to say that we're all hoping Honda will put it into the HR-V, that will make it even more competitive than it currently is. But until then, we wait.
old crv;s were like that even putting it to the floor was pathetic did nothing much my wife has 2011 civic even with this car in the manual book it says put in d 3 and put peddle to the floor when getting onto hwy etc their pretty gutless

I heard some reviewers say that the sport mode doesn't make much of a difference. Thoughts?
I love the way you explain cars. You do such a good job.
Thanks Jeff, I greatly appreciate that!
Great job on the review! I've looked at many reviews on the HR-V, and based my decision to buy the EX model on this review!
Congrats Mark, that's awesome news! The EX is loaded and really unless you require leather, it makes the most sense to me. Enjoy it! Hopefully you've subscribed for more helpful videos!
Grappone Automotive Group I have indeed subscribed. You guys seem to have it together. looking forward to seeing more great reviews!
I'm thinking of getting hr-v 2018 just deciding the trim . I'm watching so many reviews about this .

Oh I just wanted to add- very good review clear & concise.

Goodnight fella! Take that HRV to the nearest McDonald's and get a SuperSize meal.
Great review!
I am hesitant about a vehicle with CVT. I wonder just how they hold up over the years.
No issues since 2015 👍💪
Great review, I also watched the CX-3 review, which one do you prefer? Which one do you think is better for a single guy 30yo? Thanks :)
Depends on what you prioritize more. The HR-V has significantly more interior space than the CX-3 does, but the CX-3 has sharp styling inside and out.
Nice car and great review.

I am gonna have this car! The nice SUV model of hrv series that Honda made it ever!
Enjoy!
Excellent review...
Great thorough review, thank you.
what do you think is the best color for the hrv for a guy like me...
John Michael Carino, the HR-V comes in a bunch of handsome colors. My favorite is the Misty Green which looks like the color of moss. The color chips on "Build your HR-V" are not very true to color online, so just keep that in mind!
John Michael Carino gray
Good to hear your views on CVT transmission. It gets a bad press here in the UK.
Can you turn the infotainment screen off so that it's dark with no power to it?
Yes you can. If you press the day/night button on the unit it will cycle and turn the screen off regardless of the unit being on or off (audio, navi etc).
Does it have adaptive cruise control?

What the listed price?
What's a good price for the EX?
mast3min3 that is hard to say as it depends on transmission, drivetrain and availability in your area. Around here they typically sell around MSRP, to give you some idea.
Does it have a camera in the back ?
It sure does! All Honda's in the US have had a backup camera as standard equipment since 2015.
i love this car
No Honda Sensing ?
skunk1955 as of right now Honda does not offer Honda Sensing on the HR-V, though I would expect to see it soon with safety standards and regulations heading the way they are.

I'm getting 64mpg average in my 2.2 diesel Civic 😐 not impressed by your 34mpg on motorway Americans

thanks for the reply.we will wait then, its refreshing to know you read our comments.i have just subscribed.thanks again.
I try to check them on a daily basis, glad you appreciate it and thanks for subscribing!
Why don't Americans drive diesel cars? This particular Hrv can get almost 70mpg with a 1.6 diesel engine
this engine is so weak its dangerous to pass unless you have a manual
old crv;s were like that even putting it to the floor was pathetic did nothing much my wife has 2011 civic even with this car in the manual book it says put in d 3 and put peddle to the floor when getting onto hwy etc their pretty gutless
i have the 2017 crv and its so powerful even though its a cvt. if yall need passing power get the crv with the turbo.
