This guy is one of the best actors I've ever seen and he's not even that experienced. He is a treat to watch on the silver screen.
He should be getting the same buzz that Timothee Chalamet is getting IMO.
I agree. I saw this before I saw Call Me By Your Name and I initially took out my frustration on the latter film. The latter is showing on more screens, its leads have the "Hollywood look," and the setting is more aesthetically pleasing. I get it. Still, I think CMBYN has an average story with incredible acting from the leads while God's Own Country is more than just a love story - AND its acting is even better, in my opinion. I think that Chalamet gave the best overall performance because he nails being young and vulnerable while also being precocious; but, Josh and Alec have such perfect chemistry. I actually prefer Alec's role because he's tasked with bringing Josh's performance to the next level, but both are great.
I agree. God's own country is so much better than cmbyn.
Messylin For sure. It's a shame because it feels like there can only be one "big" LGBT movie celebrated at a time, not several. CMBYN is somehow getting all of the attention. I personally found it inferior to God's Own Country.
God's Own has been affected by all the Brokeback associations, wheras Call Me seems like an 'original concept' for some reason... that's probably why God's Own has not gotten the same buzz even though its a vastly superior film with superior acting.
Messylin That's a good point. At the same time, though, CMBYN is also more "conventional" in terms of it being about two upper-class Western guys and, of course, with a well-known director and actor (Hammer). It just goes to show that popularity doesn't necessarily equals the highest quality.
Josh O'Connor is adorable in his interviews. Not pretentious at all, and quite open, after his success. What an acting talent!!
The adorable smile. I love that shyness.
For anyone who would like to know if Josh can put his money where his mouth is, see Gods Own Country. Young Mr O’Connor proves he has an extraordinarily completely developed talent. His character John Saxby comes to life in such rich emotional detail, and with so little dialogue, as to prove himself the equal of any actor I’ve ever seen on stage or screen.
I agree he was amazing on it .. ❤
watching Josh while he was trying to reconcile with 'Gheorghe at the end of God's Country is a marvel. the anguish and pain and hope in his face was heart-breaking
.
His hand gestures 🤗 love it 🌸
He is so sympathetic and he played his character John so beautifully. His acting touched my heart. I really would like to see him in more projects. He deserves the recognition.
Well he’s playing the young Prince Charles in season three of The Crown. And he is superb.
I love this words from 04:20 about concept of unemployment, idea to not to beat yourself up - it's just sometimes not the right project for you.
I admire Josh so so much! He is a brilliant actor, his performance in god's own country was fenomenal, he is also very eloquent and smart, and seems to be so humble and so down to earth.
Josh O'Connor is so unabashedly awkward and I love that about him! 😍
A superb actor. Yes, he deserves better recognition.
The inside of his ears are so weirdly clear of those snirkly structures that I have. I cannot stop staring at it. Beautiful man. Very nice eyes and hands.
That nose is so sharp! He's blessed in his own way.
An absolute joy to watch. He played his part so beautifully, realistically. There wasn't a part in the movie that was false. Both actors just wowed me right through.
All actors in God's Own Country had done incredible jobs. Josh O'Connor is one of the best actors I have ever seen.
I love this guy ,the simplicity ,the charisma he is brilliant
Very exciting, capable actor. A joy to watch onscreen.
I could listen to his voice all day
watching he having the interview is like I'm having my IELTS speaking test LOL
Why is goc not nominated for Oscar it's frustrating n sad this story stands taller than CMBYN (p.s. I loved CMBYN too but ) this has more maturity n growth n depth n the tension n in the end positive outcome as hopeful n courageous with realistic approach 🎯
Agree.. This movie more superior than CMBYN, aarghhh...
Was it because it never had a wide release in the US and not enough voting academy members knew about it?
Obviously, he is now the new rising-star finding his place in the heavens. Blessings Josh.
I love this guy. Looking forward to seeing any project he’s apart of.
He is so perfect ❤
"Unemployment"????? Do please keep this guy ON SCREEN!!!!!!!!
He will meet his time sooner or later..☆
Such an amazing talent🙌
Very down to earth and well spoken.
Absolutely LOVED him in "Gods own country"
He's cute and very likeable.
He's so articulate and so interesting to listen to! So young, such a long career ahead of him.
Miré la película God's own country y me ha parecido tan lleno de profesionalismo, además su interpretación del Principe de Gales es fantástica porque logra que uno sienta mucha pena y también mucho odio por él.
He is so beautiful to me ❤️
So adorable ❤
His performance in God's own Country was astonishing. He almost physically transformed.
Hi Josh....just now seeing this interview from four years ago. The transformation from watching who you are and your character, John, is unbelievable. Thanks for an unbelievably superb story placed to video.
I felt in love with him when I saw him in “Miserables”, now is really my favourite. Good luck Josh, you are the best.
So true...hope is truly important to have for a more peaceful life.
Very professional actor that is.
Josh in Gods Own Country is brilliant.
I love him , brilliant actor. Also In God's Country wow ❤❤❤❤
Such a brilliant actor. Loved his performance in God's own country. Beautiful and best gay love film by far.
Love this guy's work. Great to have the same accents and birthplace too...
Awe. That story about the old lady.
He is so attractive and cute.
Me, after listening to all that:
"Yes, yes...but why are you so cute!!!!"
He is so sweet.
Sequel!!!
Pretty English boy with Russian soul. It's cool!
너무 귀여버요 웃음이가
God I'm obsess with him..
Beautiful... Amaizing...
when he showed his thing....in gods own country....we swoooned, so big wow
Thats so nice how she went to see the movie
And re the necessity of ‘Hope’ in art. If there is none, I never understand the point of the story, at the very least the telling of it to the audience should be a seed.....
Well, Mulholland Drive is one example of a film that ends leaving me sad and reminding me of how many tragic fates there are; characters we care about for whom it does not end well, but I'd still recommend this to everyone.
Joker also isn’t hopeful at all but it’s art
2:30 There is "DP" in the movie? I must have missed that bit! 😂😂
Director of Photography
Excellent actor. Will watch any of his work. But, Josh, what's your favorite meal????
He has shyness and sadness. The both aspects are based on the warmth.
너무 좋아❤
I don't think he'll have to worry about unemployment. He should watch out for overexposure, however ... I've heard him answer these same questions the same way from twenty different interviewers. It's okay to turn down an in interview, Josh.
I love You... Josh😍😍😍
Great acting in GOC...WHEN'S UR NRXT FILM UP?
i love you
Josh O’Connor is way cooler than Timothee Chalamet!!
Idk. They're both pretty cool. Unless you have a scientific cool barometer in your room that you want to share...
He's so handsome, I don't know how they made he looks ugly in the film
Diana ❤
❤
If HOPE is so important to Josh, then surely he needs to view "The Shawshank Redemption"...for obvious reasons if you have seen the film you are keenly aware of why I say that.
He sounds posh but looks dorky. Me lurvs the combination.
Although there are elements of "posh" in his normal speaking voice, there are also clear signs of the region he comes from - Gloucestershire. A brilliant actor and a great personality.
Duril
Great actor. However, I find him more than a little disappointing as himself. Same way I would describe Meryl Steep.
