As a gay man I have spent much of my life running away from Judaism, but after a long journey I have discovered that Judaism has not once given up on me, and will always be waiting with open arms when I need it most. These days, I am proud of both parts of my identity, and am celebrating my tradition and culture with my friends and family over Zoom. (It was the triple whammy of Pesach, Shabbat, and my birthday yesterday!). This production speaks so authentically to the Jewish experience - being able to simultaneously make me laugh, think, and cry in every breathe. I feel so utterly deeply connected to my Jewish mishpocha in this moment...I'm in tears...
A true religion accepts people for who they are not the labels imposed upon them. May your chosen religion support you and lift you up when you need it most.
This is so beautiful. Thank you to everyone who put this together. So often, as Jews, we have to leave our religious traditions at the door in order to achieve mainstream success and recognition. This event, is a beautiful celebration of who we are at heart, a people who continue to push for freedom, not only for ourselves but for others as well. The fact that this event is attached to an act of tzedaka (charity), makes it that much more beautiful. Thank you again to everyone who made this online event possible.

@@funvideoperson5268 thank you 🙏 I spent the entire two nights of Passover with my family this year plus a new member of the family! My son! It was great! What a time 2020 was. I’ll never forget

Sorry to hear. You would have been welcome to join our Zoom seder. Reach out to some communities. L'Chiam. Passover is definately the most shareable holiday in Judaism. You are required to explain the holiday as part of the holiday. It's not like Tu BiShvat where you start shaking some weird plants in all directions and sleep in a tent that is required to have holes.
Seders at my late parents house was a sketch. My dad wanted to read every word. My mom wanted to serve dinner already. It normally wound up with us on the floor with laughter. Boy I miss them.
I think this pandemic shows it shouldn't be a about religion, race, sexual preferences, or financial status. Its about love and acceptance! Stay well, & call someone to remind them you love them. It's too real now, that tomorrow isn't promised.
That was wonderful. I am a practicing Catholic so I understand that my faith has so much of its history linked to your faith. I thought I knew a lot about this but you have filled in a few gaps. I am about to celebrate mass online at home on my own and this has been wonderful preparation. Thank you, thank you, thank you to my Jewish brothers and sisters and Happy Passover. Love and hugs to you all. I will never listen to “Somewhere over the rainbow” the same again.
And your Jewish brothers and sisters send good wishes to you for a deeply meaningful Easter holiday. It’s nice that there is commonality to be found between these two very different faiths.
Hope you had a beautiful Easter. This pandemic should be a wake up call for the entire world. We need to play nice! Love and acceptance . Peace and faith!!💗

A most beautiful seder. It's both sad and wonderful that it took corvid-19 for such a touching moment with this hour Saturday Night Seder. Let this only be the beginning of us all staying connected thru history, song & prayer. Thanks to all those who made this RUclips event happen
This gives so much in so many different ways. Thanks to all to put this together. As someone who know nothing of the Jewish faith I feel much closer to my neighbors in just seeing how alike we are than not through this virtual Seder. (Not a sentence I thought I’d type in my lifetime.)

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! What an inspirational piece of art! I got to experience a new religious tradition while being entertained and then Harvey Fierstein brought me to tears with his powerful message. Perfection. Next year in Jerusalem.

I’m sequestered alone this Pesach. I didn’t think it would be harder than the years I was in the USA military during a war, but I was wrong. I really needed this.
Not Jewish, but always respected the tradition, storytelling, and communal traditions of the religion. This was beautiful, thank you so much for sharing ❤ good Passover to all!!!
Cynthia Erivo & Shoshana Bean - no one on this earth has EVER sang a song more beautiful that this. I keep rewinding it to hear it just once more. Please record this as a single ladies.
And that great song is even exactly about what this special is about. The Jewish holidays don't have many songs, especially modern ones, but they've got a heck of a one here.
Wow, seder would have been a lot more fun during my childhood if it had been more like this! In all seriousness, what a beautiful video. I laughed, I cried, I learned (I will never look at Somewhere Over the Rainbow the same way again). A ray of hope in a time of darkness. Thank you to all that participated, especially my fave Dan Levy. L'Chaim!
This was beautiful, entertaining, educational, inspirational and just annoying enough. My wife and I both were crying at the end. Great job by everyone! We really appreciated it and am donating personally and through my synagogue. Thank you for doing this! A bee gezundt!
May his memory be for a blessing. I remember my first seder without each of my grandfathers, who were both immigrants. Neither holiday was easy. But every Pesach we still talk about their lives & how their families came to the US for freedom (specifically, not wanting to be killed in a pogrom or murdered in a death camp) My "Zayde" came from eastern European shtetl with his parents & toddler older sis to the lower east side when he was a baby. My "Opa" fled Nazi-infested western Europe (Germany to Holland, then fled Holland for the US via Cuba) with his grandparents, parents & 4 adult siblings; they landed on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
The Four Questions sung by Idina Menzel Why is this night different from all other nights? 1. On all other nights, we eat leavened (chometz) or matzah. But on this night only matzah. 2. On all other nights, we eat all types of vegetables. But on this night, maror. 3. On all other nights, we don't dip even one time. But on this night, two times. 4. On all other nights, we sit straight or leaning. But on this night, we only lean.
Thanking all that participated in this entertaining skit to celebrate the Passover holiday for a worthy cause . We should never forget the lives that were taken way to soon ,,.some of those lives were health care providers trying to save others ...

Rochel Ohayon Same! Chag Kosher Sameach!
Absolutely😊🎶Yafe!!!💙
Chag Pesach Sameach!
Cynthia and Shoshana duet tho. heavenly and thats an understatment
pranaja that was when I was on the verge of tears
I was floored....that was astounding
Highlight of this entire thing.
What was that song called???
So soft and touching I'm holding my tears
Judith Light had me in tears. She has a way with words, for sure.
Mary-Jessica Pitts I’m glad I wasn’t alone
Same. I wasn’t in tears until she spoke.
That's the part that made me cry as well.
It looked like she had a tear sneak out of her left eye at the end as well. I’ll never listen to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” in the same way again. 💔
Who does such things....who are these people....? I'm so overwhelmed, I feel totally inadequate WHO NEEDS BROADWAY!? You open hearts and fill them with warmth. You open minds and fill them with knowledge. A thousand times, thank you. Simply brilliant! (AND Bette, shame on me I'd forgotten how much you've meant to me lo these many years.....and Harvey, you're a rich man.) To one and all, next year!
I’m Jewish and I really appreciate the amount of positivity and hope during these troubling times. Happy Passover and stay safe everyone!
This pandemic should leave us with the reality that it's not about religion, race, sexual preference, or financial status. Its about acceptance and love. Stay well!! Shalom 💗
A Seder with all these wonderful stars, couldn't be better during this isolation.
I have always wanted to be involved in Jewish traditions and I’m so glad that this happened. I’ve been wanting to learn about all religions for so long and there’s no better way to learn than something like this. Thank you so much.
It's less than 40 days to the festival of cheesecake. Okay it's not called that... It should be but...
If you'd like to learn more, go to Jews for Judaism on you tube. I learned a lot there.
When the video transitions from black and white to color... Just like the Wizard of Oz!!
Amy- Personal Yarin sobbing 😭
OMG! I didn’t even think of that while being mesmerized by Ben’s absolutely incredible singing of SOTR! I noticed the color at the end, though! 🙄😆
"Next year" in peace and good health, with both my sisters, their families, my 2 children, son-in-law, and my grandson all together.
Idina Menzel singing the Four Questions made me so happy. Laughter, tears...like every Seder...so beautiful. Happy Pesach.
... and Billy Porter! "Let My People Go" was incredibly moving.
Hi Susan! From Nan Myers
This was absolutely wonderful -- a relevant and creative production. Everyone involved performed a real mitzvah!
I have never felt more connected to a global mishbocha.
😀Chag Sameach! 💙🎶🥂
I am not Jewish. I just finished a very difficult shift at the hospital taking care of COVID patients. Much needed this video. Love the energy, happiness, and humor. We all need this. Thank you to everyone involved.
Bless you!
Thank YoU for all that you are doing!
G-d bless & Stay Well 💙
I saw Fran Drescher and I was like "OMG OMG OMG!!!" 6:09 (Also, she is from The Nanny. And if you don't know what that is, then I suggest you look it up!!!) Anyone asking, I am Jewish.
HOW did I miss her?! I'll need to catch up!
Seeing Fran in the thumbnail made me click SO fast. She pretty much raised me! ❤️
Duardo Matul Yes, she sang the theme song to the show while washing her hands!! Too funny!
I literally screamed when she started singinggg!!
See her in one of her first roles in "This is Spinal Tap" as Bobbi Fleckman!
Bravo! Bravo! Bravo! What an inspirational piece of art! I got to experience a new religious tradition while being entertained and then Harvey Fierstein brought me to tears with his powerful message. Perfection. Next year in Jerusalem.
This is beautiful and amazing to see all these talented people come together together. I'm Catholic so it is very cool to learn about the traditions. The part detailing the parting of the red sea was so powerful and touching
I am Christian and I have been always wanted to go to a Passover Seder thank you for sharing this beautiful holiday with everyone. I touched me so much I was brought to tears. Happy Passover.
Oh, man. They sing the four questions much better than my family and me.
That backing is so beautiful. I hope Alan Menken releases a karaoke track. I had to sing it the first 20-something years of my life, haha. I think I'm in the clear now although I was invited to sing a Covid version this year.
Was that the song Idina Menzel sang??
stacym75 yes
The Tony Award-winning singer/songwriter/actress can sing better than your random family members? Whoda thought!? :D
I still watch this every year---so awesome!.❤
Our first Passover without our dad. He would have loved it.
May his memory be a blessing.
Our first without my grandma...
Our first one without my mom & she would have loved this too!
REST IN PEACE
Ellen Lutwak ....I lost both of my parents last month. They, too would have loved it....😘 zissen Pesach!
My previous knowledge of Passover came from The Rugrats Passover Special.
Jason Alexander: Idina Menzel is gonna sing
Me: Wait let me get my popcorn
L’Chaim. To LIFE! Happy peaceful and hopeful Pesach!
Popcorn not kosher for Passover
@@joanginsburg3849 it depends on your family customs
@@ronshala22 Me: I hope she doesn't sing long - nasal and whining as always
@@joanginsburg3849 It's kitnyot... I wouldn't eat it on Pesach, but some Sephardim & less observant people might.
I had booked tickets for Prince of Egypt a year in advance and the shows got cancelled but hearing the beautiful music at 45min made up for it 100%!! 😍
Ben Platt just reposted @iconsonly and my daughter is literally beside herself .... you are her hero ...thank you .. Now she believes in miracles .... stay safe love from Australia
THIS is the real deal!
What a beautifully crafted production!
Whoever organized this is blessed by the wonderful ones!
Keep them blessins comin!
Yes, THIS was the real deal.
And now into the time capsule it goes!!
GLORIOUS GLORIOUS GLORIOUS!!!
I am not jewish and this brought tears to my eyes, filled my heart with love and joy. Thank you for your kindness
I didn't realize how much I'd missed the Seder until I sobbed and laughed and sang my way through this. Thank you ALL! (and donate!)
I recently found out my great grandparents were Jewish and fled Spain. This is wonderful. Thanks so much ❤
Also, my kids always said my dad looked like Henry Winkler. I has no ides he was Jewish. And, my dad's name was Henry. 💔
@@GreatDayEveryone Sorry to have to say this, but Jewish ancestry on your father's side doesn't count. Our religion is matrilineal.
This was honestly beautiful, I really enjoyed it. I'm not even Jewish, but I'm really glad you guys did this
Leila M.G. Samesies!
This is a must watch for all religions!
I missed my family’s Passover this year, covid and all. When ‘when you believe’ played I started sobbing. This past year has been so damn hard.
Woooow...I sure hope it's possible to be able to see that segment with "When You Believe" after this special. That was absolutely gorgeous!!
Tobi Krutt oh my gosh. For real. I was ended by that.
You can always watch this again.
My moment of losing it was the Harvey Fierstein segment, followed by "Next Year."
This is amazing! I love how in all the Jewish people’s house there are chachkis, stuff and clutter. Then, in all of the non Jewish people’s house it’s empty/minimalistic. Super great
I'm happy we wandered for those 40 years because we got this masterpiece as a result.
Happy passover!
You can't believe how happy I am to hear other people talking about a holiday I celebrate here in Israel!
I’m sequestered alone this Pesach. I didn’t think it would be harder than the years I was in the USA military during a war, but I was wrong. I really needed this.
Thank you so much! Idina Menzel's rendition of the four questions made me cry! So well done! I hope that many people will see this!
This is one Seder that I wish had gone on for four hours! Just wonderful. Thank you to everyone who contributed and organized this.
Not Jewish, but always respected the tradition, storytelling, and communal traditions of the religion. This was beautiful, thank you so much for sharing ❤ good Passover to all!!!
I am a suburban mother in Indiana actually watching with my 14 year old daughter.
Bob Meacham watching from Indiana too!
Shalom and welcome 😊❤️

Okay, so that whole Ben Platt/Judith Light thing just made me cry. A lot.
Happy to support such a worthy cause. Stay safe, stay inside.
I’m humbled by Passover and Seder. I’m a Catholic but we are brothers and sisters still. Happy Easter and Passover!
Thank you and peace to all
This is such a cool idea. What a talented group of performers!
Cynthia Erivo & Shoshana Bean - no one on this earth has EVER sang a song more beautiful that this. I keep rewinding it to hear it just once more. Please record this as a single ladies.
Gorgeous, incredibly moving by such great artists
And that great song is even exactly about what this special is about. The Jewish holidays don't have many songs, especially modern ones, but they've got a heck of a one here.
Cynthia Erivo is sublime. The best voice I've heard in years. I have to listen to her every day.
This was the perfect song for my family to listen to while celebrating the passover
L'Chaim!
This was warm, welcoming and meaningful to watch. Yasher koach
Ben Platt! OMG! The most incredible rendition of SOTR! Brought me to tears. Idina Menzel’s 4 Question? A-MAZE-ING! 🥰
This was beautiful, entertaining, educational, inspirational and just annoying enough. My wife and I both were crying at the end. Great job by everyone! We really appreciated it and am donating personally and through my synagogue. Thank you for doing this! A bee gezundt!
Not Jewish but what a wonderful event filled with such love and encouragement. Faith and Hope unites us all!
Thank you for my first seder. That was fantastic! Beautiful, funny, educational. I was moved to tears. Next year, Jerusalem!
First Passover without my grandfather. He would have loved it, only he was included in this Seder 😂
May his memory be for a blessing. I remember my first seder without each of my grandfathers, who were both immigrants. Neither holiday was easy.
But every Pesach we still talk about their lives & how their families came to the US for freedom (specifically, not wanting to be killed in a pogrom or murdered in a death camp)
My "Zayde" came from eastern European shtetl with his parents & toddler older sis to the lower east side when he was a baby. My "Opa" fled Nazi-infested western Europe (Germany to Holland, then fled Holland for the US via Cuba) with his grandparents, parents & 4 adult siblings; they landed on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
Donating in honor of Dr. Anthony Fauci.... Bless you!
The Four Questions sung by Idina Menzel
Why is this night different from all other nights?
Next Year has me literally crying. Next Year, together.
Just gorgeous, moving, profound. Thank you all
This. Is. Amazing. Thank you thank you thank you to all who conceptualized, wrote, produced, gathered, and participated in this joyful celebration.
This was absolutely wonderful! Thank you to everyone who took part. Love you all!

This is so beautiful an amazing! Only around 15 minutes and it's already so powerful. Beautiful songs, amazing education. Something positive... Exactly what we all need rn.
Proud to be Jewish and watching this. They are doing such an incredible job.
I'm not Jewish and also loving it! Just recognizing (duh!!) how little exposure most of the country gets to Jewish cultural and religious holidays and history. Happy Passover to all!
@@marthabader2456 that's why I love this. It's such a positive thing for us and something so rare to see.
Thank you to everyone who worked on this incredible video. You lifted my spirits so much. Beautiful!
I'm not Jewish but i am thankful that I saw this because it makes me feel better
So beautiful. I’m not even Jewish. I watched the whole thing and I’m bawling crying.
