Thank you Sir Charles, for not allowing this opportunity to pass & asking directly about domestic violence. I pray they get ahead of it with these players as in any case of domestic violence everyone suffers & the ripple effects are far reaching.
Look at the statistics - well over 90% of all family violence claims are true, EVEN in self-surveys of the purported abusers. The NBA is lagging behind in holding its players accountable - which they have also acknowledged. Also the NBA is a company, not a governmental body, and as such cannot hand out ‘penalties’ to the partners and spouses of their players - who have no abiding contracts with the NBA.
Chuck made about 37 million over his NBA Career, a bit over 75 mil adjusted for inflation. Nowadays, there are players making that much by themselves per season. When your expensive car is a BMW, you probably aren't worried about driving it to the supermarket. When it's a Maserati, you're going to be a lot more careful about taking care of your investment.
I dont buy thats its entirely a team decision to rest players. Big name players have a lot of power in this league and if they truly wanted to play in every regular season game, they would be. Teams should be held accountable but I will believe it when I see it. The league cares about its nationally televised games but players and teams will find a way around these rules
@nickandres7829 load management isn't coming from the management. It's coming from the players, most notably Kawhi Leonard. These players are spoiled, selfish, unprofessional. You only have to show up to work 82 days out of the entire year. And especially to the guys getting paid over 40 million a year, shut up and play every game! If they could do it in Jordan's Era, they can definitely do it now. The game is easier with far less banging than it was back then💯
Good for Chuck not sugar coating and Adam Silver never dodging questions!! Sometimes I wonder if I'm more of an NBA fan or an "Inside the NBA" fan lol. There's been times where I'd miss the games and just watch the pregame, halftime and post game via "Inside the NBA" LOL

So happy the guys are back. Love Chuck being a straight shooter and NOT being afraid to hold people accountable. He is a invaluable part of the NBA and sports media as a whole
Everytime load management is discussed, I always remember what Vanessa Bryant said about Kobe: “I remember asking him why he couldn’t just sit a game out because he was hurting. He said, ‘What about the fans who saved up to watch me play just once?’ He never forgot about his fans, if he could help it, he would play every minute of every game. He loved you all (the fans) so much.” He really is one of a kind. And Chuck as always keep reminding the stars about their privilege 💯 thank you Denver for cheering for his notion!
That’s what I feel what the major problem today. Imagine a kid going to an nba game which might be their only opportunity to go to one just for their favorite player to not be playing.
That’s because ppl truly believe the notion that those they have no affiliation with actually care about them. The NBA (or any professional sports league/organization) could not care less about fans unless there’s a clear and tangible ROI for doing so.
Let's goooooooooooooooooooooooo... I am from England, and was traveling for work during the play-offs... Best commissioner in sports. Even if the in season tournament doesn’t work. I’m glad they are at least willing to give it a shot! New things are exciting!
The best NBA show bar none. The honesty, always asking the tough questions, and challenging the current players, team management and even the commissioner. All the other networks should take notes who are more concerned with theatrics, and sound bites.
At some point, TNT and ESPN/ABC need to come to an agreement that allows these guys to be part of the Finals coverage. They did it with Craig Sager, so they can do it with these four.
It's a shame they have to resort to a play-in tournament, an in-season tournament, minimum games to win awards, and a new set of rules just to get players and teams to care about the regular season.
As a baseball fan, it's crazy to me to see that Cal Ripken Jr. played in 2,632 games consecutively... He went many, many years without missing a single game. Meanwhile, in the land of basketball, you have players who miss games on a pretty regular basis. I understand they're not a perfect comparison but come on, the difference in work ethic and concern for the fans is huge.
When everyone basically makes the playoffs, why would they care about the regular season? Just seeding? One extra home game per series? NBA players aren't as impacted by road arenas.
I mean that's the way the nba built itself, it's their fault, the Euroleague every game counts ans is important as the next game, so the players give it their all, in the nba they tend to win the games they need to make the playoffs and then just mess around until the playoffs come, I can't remember the last time I saw the regular season, I only wait for the playoffs
No league in the world is as transparent, fair and progressive as the NBA. I am entering my 12th year as a league pass subscriber from Brasil, and I always say; NBA, take my money!!!!!! Have a great year y’all!
Yeah that made me LOL. Good luck with that; you get far enough into a given season, most NBA players, and especially the 10+ year vets, are gonna have some sort of legitimate injury. Whether or not it's something that player should just play through...can "independent doctors" really make that decision?
I respect Chuck’s bold question at the end, but my only issue is that he specifically made it about men hitting women and “we can’t let men hit women”. He should’ve stood against domestic violence in general whether it’s the man doing it or the woman, period. You shouldn’t put your hands on anybody.
I like the NBA Cup idea. It’s a big thing in soccer where there’s the FA cup in England and Kings cup in Spain where a lot of smaller market teams look forward to it and try and make a run to win a trophy. So hopefully it catches on and the fans push for it
This is explains the new NBA changes, so well. NBA commissioner being so transparent is great. Don’t think any other pro sport commissioner comes out and explains things, so well
I appreciate his willingness to not only make an appearance on live TV to talk directly to fans, but he also doesn't give non-answers and he shares the credit with the league office staff and the players union in nearly every answer. I'm from Toronto and when Kyrie Irving was on Boston I saved up my money all year long to see him play against the Raptors and he didn't play. I must say that was very upsetting that I spent all that money for a game time decision to not play
Not for nothing, but as fans we're subject to that risk regardless. Kyrie could've played, aggravated whatever injury made him a game time decision in the first place, then be forced to miss whatever the next 5 games were and disappoint all those fans in the process. People bring up the Kobe quote all the time. No one brings up how many more fans missed out on the opportunity to see him play after he tore his Achilles, which - most people who've torn theirs will confirm this - is usually an overuse injury, and Kobe was already in his 17th season at the time.
