Remake films often change things around. Not everything from the original film is carried on to this one. The main elements of the plot are Eric and Shelly, a couple in love, killed by some bad people, Eric brought back to life to avenge Shelly’s murder, his connection to the crow and his mission, and how love is stronger than death.
People do realize it's 2024. Not 1994. I have no problem with the filmmaker re-adaptating the crow to modern times. Plus, they're not remaking the 1994 movie. Its a re-adaptation of the graphic novel. And prolly taking bits and pieces from different books of the crow. People who say this movie tarnishes Lee's legacy.... no, it does not. The three crappy sequels already did that.
If you gonna remake it then rename it. You have Eric Draven so the standard was set by Brandon Lee. It’s just bad to remake it and totally change what was done perfectly before
What you see there in the beginning is going back to the original novel where dravens character has drug issues. that was left out of the first movie. they have added their take on that here. that in part is where the new look comes from also. it comes from james obarrs follow up crow novel the crow wild justice. not a rip off of letos joker. that was made in 1997. this movie is going to be very long. a full two hour feature length film. they show alot here but they are leaving out a whole lot. it is i think this is going to be a very good movie. and this movie isnt based on the original movie. its based on the original novel and bits from wild justice. mainly the look element. with it being a worldwide release it will gross a lot. stateside only all it needs is a small audience of around 3 to 4 million to be a box office hit. not counting its eventual worldwide release. i say give it a chance. it wasnt meant to be the original from the 90s. yeah im going to see it. i saw the original in 1994 at local theater and saw city of angels same way. better experience on the big screen by far. im open to the movie to see what its about. yeah they regeared elements of it but fans would have panned that to as a disgrace to lee and his legacy. the franchise is his legacy. nothing made in it can ever take away from his performance. it can only add to it if its good and stand on its own. this will do better than all the crappy sequels. by far.
They went with the Michael Korby version of the crow from the comics that one had tattoos all over him. Now i do understand why people are complaining because they used the Eric Draven name, and this is obviously not the Eric Draven character. I loved your review on this I thought of a crow I want to see get made extremely badly I want lions gate to get Catharine newton and cole sprouse where they are both killed and she comes back so we get it from the Shelly Webster perspective if she is brought back and have Dylan the twin brother as the skull cowboy and have the white horse and train from the graphic novel and do the story completely different and have the detective that stayed with her in the hospital and the girl from the graphic novel not Sarah be the ones to help Shelly out and just get really creative with it

It’s a Hollywood money grab. They should have names this The Raven and the IT guy Derrick Raven and then they could have done whatever they wanted with this iconic character played to perfection by Brandon Lee. The original had heart, importance of family, anti drug subject matter, heart felt tragedy, and epic soundtrack that flowed with the movies context. This movie had 2 tweakers who escape a rehab/detention facility together to do drugs and take baths together while saying corny shit like you are my person and beautifully broken which is a tired overused phrase with millions of memes.
I will be very direct they could've done the same concept but used original characters. Reimaging some old ones that's going more towards Woke isn't a good idea. Not to mention, the fans really didn't want them reusing Eric Draven to dishonor Brandon Lee's legacy. Just going by that trailer it's better than The Crow: Wicked Prayer. Right now it's neck and neck with The Crow: City of Angels. I absolutely don't like the movie also involved with notable development hell history too. Which already a bad sign this movie going to suck. The original movie set the standards high. Even The Crow: Salvation was enough of it's own thing with the same concept. At the same time, it's done in a way that doesn't upset the fans too. Eric in this looks like either Suicide Squad movie Joker or Jokerz gang from Batman Beyond show. Just going by that trailer even Spawn movie was way better too. Another movie involving the hero gets revived with powers. Honestly, I want this movie to get either canceled or bomb heavily in theaters. I highly doubt anyone wanna see this. Now Violent Night, a more Christmas Die Hard/John Wick movie was way better than this. At least that was much more creative in comparison. The Crow truly deserves to make a proper return. Sadly this is already sending it back to it's grave!!!

It's got a little to do with the name and more about being that character a lot of people felt it's dishonoring the late Brandon Lee.
