I'm from St Lucia and I never knew this. Asked my mom and she was like yes, this is what they used to wash their hair back then. 5 minutes later, we took a walk through the neighborhood to pick some Hibiscus leaves and flowers. It's midday and the sun is blazing hot but my hair will thank me later😭😭😭
Hi Mimi, nice to see a fellow St. Lucian here. I do remember my mom using this to wash my hair when I was a little girl but we quickly transitioned to the store bought shampoo. It's Funny that I'm seeing this video because just this morning I asked my mom where can I find hibiscus, because I would like to try it in my hair again. After being out of the country for a very long time I'm back home and slowly transitioning back to everything natural. If you don't mind, please let me know how your wash with the hibiscus came out. Thanks and be Blessed
Ain't nobody goin' buy those chemicals. It'll be too expensive for the quality. If you have a plant available outside, u won't spend $0. They couldn't beat that 5 finger discount if they tried.
Hi. Thanks for your input but can I please ask a question (1)So do you leave it in for a few minutes and wash out or you wash out as soon as you apply. (2) if you have very soiled hair from lots of oils& dirt.. can this shampoo wash it all out in 1st application or you do it twice.
Imagine walking by these plants everyday for 2 months in Jamaica and admiring the beautiful flowers yet not realizing the leaves were magical. Ugh!🤦🏾♀️
I am from Kerala. We call it taali, ( taali can be any combination of good things that form a slimy liquid which is used as natural shampoo like shikakai, reetha etc, but Kerala we use hibiscus leaves and flowers.). We just mash, break, grind handful of leaves and flowers by hand to get to a slimy fluid and wash hair. It leaves your hair silky and scalp clean. My mom rarely allowed to use chemical based shampoo and this was part of weekend ritual when I was young. 😇😊

I never attempted it but their hair always seemed pretty curly and shiny after.
Sounds like y’all had a nice ass life. We don’t have these delicacies in the U.S. Everything is mostly fillers that does nothing for your health but make it worse.
@@baconandeggs9113 😂 😂 😂 you are cracking me up at the “nice ass life part.” For us it was easily found everywhere. Well the cacao fruit, you probably have to go through some serious bush to find it. 😝 It’s a shame that everything contains fillers in the US.
@@jaslyfe yeah. Im really thinking about moving since this corona thing and the politics.
@@jaslyfe thats what we do. Sell things that are bad for you.
Thank you for the simplistic recipe!!! I'm tired of 10 ingredients growth serums lol
free sample of hibiscus-like leaves simply Amazing
wow. REALLY??? never knew this. grew up in Nigeria with hibiscus plants everywhere and we didn't know this.
Now we all know that is why we all have to keep in touch. As a Jamaican the one that shock me is the OKRA.
AS DECENDANTS OF CAPTURED PEOPLE AND INDENTURED WORKERS THEY WOULD NOT HAVE GIVEN US SOAP SO WE HAD TO FIND SOLUTIONS. OUT OF MANY PEOPLE ONE NATION UNDER GOD. AFRICAN BELONGS TO US AND THE CARIBBEAN BELONGS TO YOU
GOD BLESS US ALL.
Please do the video on Okra shampoo and hair conditioner
I used to have thick long hair growing up in Haiti when I was using this.
@@jackie9068 my grandma is Nigerian and made her own soap of coconut oil, cocoabutter and shea butter. I had beautiful skin and long hair as a child until I began to use store bought soaps and lotions. Have to return to our roots!
I did this last week but i only soak the hibiscus leaves i didn't blend them. thank you for the rest of the information. I live in a cold climate we can get this plant from a nursery or local home depot. xoxo

Yeah. I do use hibiscus leaves in my DIY hair oil and hair mask. But it doesn't suit every scalp. It could cause dandruff.
Wow omg, fist time I've ever heard of or seen this!!!
This is so easy. In the summer I'm going to try it. Thank you.
We Indians have already been using it from long long time.

That’s the MELINATED MAGIC. I’m here for it. Hats off to you Queen 👑
There are a few questions that I would like to ask you based on your claim. One how long have you been making and using this product? How long does it take to see results? How often should we use this treatment to get the best results? Why is the product so runny and what is your solution to make it less runny?
You have a gorgeous hair. I used to have voluminous hair when I was young.. Used to apply hibiscus leaves juice... And the rice water. But after getting into medicine no time to sleep or eat right...
I watch a lot of DIY channels for natural hair care but I have to say you have the most unique recipes :)! From cactus and watermelon detanglers to hibiscus shampoo, love it!! Keep up the good work sis
As a child my sister and i juiced the hibiscus leaves and used it to cook ackee dolly pot lol. But i will definitely try it as a natural shampoo
I'm from Panama, and when I had my hair relaxed and it was falling a fragile my grandma tough me how to use hibiscus, and yes I always Rubbed it with my hands
Oooh, I'd love to visit Panama
And then what did you do after rubbing it with your hands?
I remember doing this as a child in Jamaica for playing sake, but I remember how the mixture felt and the slip and often wondered if I can use it in my hair of recent... Thanks for the confirmation ❤️
