Hey, I just discovered your podcast because I’m about to go through the Silmarillion. Should I read a chapter then listen to the corresponding episode, or Vice verse? Thanks
Shame on you timgiraud for assuming to know Tolkien’s very complex political mind. Hobbits are a text book example of the dictatorship of the proletariat, do you hate and want to fight them for it? Just to educate you on something you apparently don’t know much about, a “fellow traveler” is specifically someone NOT in the communist party but hold communist principals (like democracy in the work place and a fair distribution of wealth). Do you want democracy in the work place and fair (not equal) distribution of wealth? I have read Tolkien was aligned politically with libertarian anarchism which can only be achieve via a communist utopia.

Read and then listen and then read again! :)
Back at a 24hr gym and shared the pod with two friends who are down with 2nd breakfasts and listening to the podcast.
🙌❤️ Just started my boys on the weightroom journey...💪
I knew exactly who to come to for this review
I'm THRILLED to have such a reputation. 🙌
@TolkienRoad I've never doubted your knowledge, not once.
How different is the new volume?
150 new letters, 43 with added material.
BTW, "Soubirous", being a French name, is pronounced "SOO-bi-roo"
Ugh, I butchered it - St. Bernadette, pray for me - thanks Carl!
Its funny to Tolkien say that about the left. Editorial said, "Reading 'Lord of the Rings' can lead to right-wing extremism Gov't Report warns." Lol
I am not a “fellow traveler” as the term is commonly used for communist, and neither was professor Tolkien. Shame on you for sullying his name
bruh / smh
