    I loved watched you go through your detox. You are a voice of reason in a crazy sea of diamond painting collectors.
    I think FOMO is the reason so many people are in deep debt. Not just with diamond painting but in life.

    I agree with you on so many things especially FOMO. I got sucked into that cycle in the past and found myself buying a painting a week almost. I havent purchased for about a year now and you've inspired me to at least finish two before I buy one more. My bank account is much happier now.

    Thank you so much for this. I have between 50-75 diamond paintings that I acquired during a period of FOMO. Now I’m beginning to feel a little overwhelmed. I underestimated how long it would take to complete them because the first few went so quickly. I’m learning so much from you especially tracking and accountability. I wasn’t tracking what I bought, just what I started so I had no idea how many I really had. “The buck stops here”. Thanks again.

    Hi Lisette, I found myself succumbing to FOMO in the beginning and then was running out of space to store them so I put myself on a low buy. I also noticed that my taste is changing and there are some in my stash that I’ve lost interest in. Strangely, I haven’t seen many new releases over the past year or so that I felt I had to have. I think that’s a sign I have too many in my stash to pick from. That’s a good thing because it lessens my temptation to buy more. Lol. 😂

    Thank you for your honesty❤. I'm one of those people with 500+ paintings in my stash. I'm so impressed by your journey so that I decided to take you and your advice as a role model📋👩‍🏫. I'll try to only buy a very small amount of kits from now on and rather work through my enormous stash💪🏻. I'll try to do it by participating in events so that working is more fun and maybe a little push to really finish the started ones🤔. I hope to reduce my stash and I know it'll take long time to do so but I'll do my best😊. Thank you so much for encouraging me🥰!

    I can relate with everything! They're all spot on! Ideally, we would want to get a dp that we can work on in the immediate future and not just store it and collect dust. I finally accounted my stash. I have 16 not started and half of them are not my style anymore! It's tempting to buy specially if there's a discount or on sale. This video is a very good reminder as we all know DAC's anniv is coming again next month! Your video is so helpful! Thank you so much!

    Thank you for this. I think most of us go nuts when we start Diamond paintings and create big stashes. I know I have too much amassed in a short time, but I am going for a low buy approach. Sadly the constant cycle of releases creates FOMO but I’ve been trying to think carefully before purchases and if I want something that sells out if it’s meant to be it will restock. And when it restocks I will know for sure whether I truly want it or if I was simply suffering from FOMO!

    • @LisetteCraftsandTells
      @LisetteCraftsandTells  3 месяца назад

      That sounds like a great strategy to me. It's just about trying to stay aware of why you are buying and just try to keep it 'normal'. That's all it is (sounds simple - but it isn't).

    Bedankt voor deze zeer interessante video Lisette. Veel dingen zijn ook al eerder naar voren gekomen, maar nu ze allemaal op een rijtje staan heel helder! En we zouden inderdaad niet moeten kopen om te kopen of om alles te willen hebben... Ik heb dan ook onlangs alleen nog maar kleine projectjes bij Wibra en Aldi gekocht, omdat ik merk dat ik met grote paintings veel te lang bezig ben. Juist vanwege de beperkte tijd. Maar hé, bij die kleine projectjes voel ik me nu goed bij en ik heb altijd nog een grotere achter de hand, voor het geval ik wel een aantal dagen meer tijd heb. Zo heb ik zo nu en dan toch een finish. Veel plezier met je nieuwe paintings. Groetjes uit Drenthe.

    Thank you for this video Lisette. I found it really helpful.
    I just started diamond art painting 2 months ago. I am just finishing my first one that took me 7 weeks (I don't personally like multi-placing).
    I already have 8 more kits sitting around waiting to be done. And many are bigger than the one I am finishing so I accumulated almost 2 years worth in two months..
    Logically it would be a good idea to slow down. So I put a note to myself to do so and saved a copy of your video with it to remind me why
    Honestly even in 2 months I've seen changes in my tastes. Like I have one I plan to hang in a specific place, and THEN I see one I like even better, so I then get the new one.
    Then I have to figure out what to do with the original one...
    Honestly, I think I really need to stop looking on the Web sites of the company's I buy from until I am almost done with the ones I have now.
    I really see your point too about how a two year old kits will likely not be as good quality as a new one, as they are always making improvements.
    .

    • @LisetteCraftsandTells
      @LisetteCraftsandTells  3 месяца назад +1

      Barbara - don’t worry - you are already ahead of me, because you came to this realisation after only 2 months. It took me a year before I stopped to think Lol. So you’ll do great going forward. Enjoy the hobby

    • @BarbaraC147
      @BarbaraC147 3 месяца назад

      @@LisetteCraftsandTells Thanks, I really did learn a lot from you. I changed the way I buy for the better, once you see the logic behind it all. I do tend to be an impulse buyer, shopping therapy and all. I want EVERYTHING I love. LOL
      I have 7 kits that as still unopened and it takes me a LONG time to complete one, as I do not care for multi-placing. And that is just how i like it, taking time to complete each brings me a greater feeling of accomplishment when it is done. I do see so many people online asking how to work quicker. That is not me. It would get twice as expensive as a hobby if I could go twice as fast, and i do always have one in progress,
      I currently have 7 unstarted. My new rule is that I cant get anymore until I get down to 3. When I start one of those 3, I can get 2 more. Then when i get down to 3 again and start one, I can get another 2....and so on...

      What I do is that I always have one diamond painting laying around - so not in a craftroom (I don't have one), but just near the dining room table. Make it as convenient as possible. When I sit down for a little coffee break - I just work 5 or 10 minutes on a section and then put it away again. All those little bits add up and at the end of the week you have made progress. Maybe give that a go?

    Newer kits not always have perfect quality. I bought the DAC Loki kit roundabout half a year ago. It had the first generation of DAC's selffabricared drills, which are usually close to perfection (especially the 310). But the 310 in this kit was just a nightmare. Fortunately it did not contain many of them.

Now that reason & clarity has returned, I’m ready to destash several that were impulse buys so I can focus on the ones I am truly interested in.
