Douglas P. is the only man i can think of who could sit there with an acoustic guitar and sing "la la la la laa la la la la laa" and actually sound kind of intimidating.
i mean when a man in flecktarn is singing songs about the holocaust it does get slightly intimidating
Michael Gira doe
and its beautiful

that mop has a beautiful voice .
thats funnny but yes great voice of Douglas
I was at this show and it was shorty after 9/11. It means so much to me that they would encore with "The Enemy Within" and insert America into the lyrics. It reminded me of when Douglas went to war torn Bosnia and played a concert for them. He didn't run or canceled the show. He came over and took the chance to sing to us. Very much needed and very much remembered!
J Begley so
What he say about America.
Except it was not Bosnia, it was Croatia. They even recorded two live albums. It was back in '92. Money earned from this album was donated to one hospital for Croatian victims of war. He said, on one concert I attended, that Croatia is his spiritual country, I don't have a clue why but it just is.
Why would he run or cancel the show? It's not like US were under radioactive cloud or something. Terrorist incident like the ones happening all over the world all the time, just that this particular one was on a more spectacular side of things.
And as soleilnoir mentioned, he was in Croatia, not Bosnia. Mind you Zagreb was never a war zone, and at the time there was a several years long ceasefire in Croatia, monitored by UN troops. It wasn't like he was playing the concert under a artillery barrage.
The voice of the Unknown Soldier is incredibly profound. It takes guts, and Douglas is chock full of that, man.
billions must listen to this
Billions must have incidents with roman catholic priests in the restrooms of an airport
Billions even
the west has fallen millions must listen 55:35
Despite its stylistic diversity, this band was above all a composer of expressionist aesthetics, always close to drama, depth, anguish and the deep and tormented vision of life that seems to emanate from the metaphysics of man as of his very deep nature🔥🕊

I've tried Death in June a few times over the years, I've never been able to get super into them. I have always preferred the more "industrial" sound. A friend recommended this and I gave it a listen. I enjoyed it. Dark and relaxing.
im a 15 year old girl from argentina. i love death in june so much, so beautifully dark
Yes! And Javier M is now president - you at least stand a chance. And I am shadow-banned. And it is coming down like statues.

soy de mexico y vi death in june dos veces en Los Angeles. bueno, un grupo que se llaman "swans" son similar. si llegan a argentina los recomendo.
So deep and simple
Simple but effective.I really enjoy it....
This was such a great show and the second best in NYC (1997 holds that honor).
Have you got the link to it?
Non posso che passare intere nottate in lacrime con il dvd di questo concerto.
Quello di D.P. e dei suoi DI6 è una specie di "ritorno al bosco" in chiave musicale. Tutto il resto è indu$tria (in)culturale.

Thanks for sharing. Heilige.

For anyone who saw this group in person: What kind of people pulled up to death in june concerts?
They are the type of people you do notsee every day
I saw them Pierce like 16 times so far but it really depends on where you are.
Gays
Death in June fans mostly. It's a diverse fanbase so, all kinds of people. You wouldn't just get jumped because of how you look or what t-shirt you're wearing or anything like you would at an antifa rally.
I love it.
Best DIJ concert ever
thx for the upload
Its almost hypnotic
Merci !!!

I was at the LA show. i remember DouglasP came out waving the American flag. Remember this was the height of 9-11 Flag fever. LOL

Is there any chance they will do tour ever again ? 🥺
Unfortunately Daddy Dougie said he wouldn't go on tour again. He's getting older but I'm not sure
@@bosskanova685 I know he's kinda old, but still have some hope.
@@hansbauer6817 me too. I live in Chicago and I never thought hed show up again after the BS he had to deal with the first time but in 2016 I got to see Di6. Maybe we will be surprised! True Kameradschaft! Heilige!!!!
What kind of helmet is Douglas P. wearing? I assume it's German but what part of the army used it?
Can't really tell type, but he is wearing Waffen SS camo helmet cover on it. Also the "mop" on his face is part of Waffen SS camouflage kit, it's Gesichttarnmask
He is wearing a M42 Blurred Edge camouflage smock, erbsenmuster hose, the WSS "sniper" veil, and what I believe to be an overprint camouflage helmet cover on a stahlhelm. The whole military used stahlhelms of generally the same model (They differed in construction as the war progressed) excluding the Fallschirmjagers who wore a smaller, rounder helmet.
@@mooveover5758 why doesn't he just come out on stage naked with a dildo inside of his ass, it would have the same intimidating effect.
@@ianswift3521 I wouldn't put this above Douglas
it was actually quite the opposite of the *failed* sarcastic joke you tried to make of it with that statement. obviously there was more to it than your description, but even if it werent i would think it would be quite the accomplishment to be able to hold an audience in such sway, and to express all that they were able to express with as little as *three chords and a pair of maracas*. i would love to see if you could hold an audience like that. doubt it though.

Death In June is beyond music and entertainment - it's a belief system. Musicianship is irrelevant.
What a load of shit.
Lunacy
awesome, but i need cowbell to go with that potatoe peeler and fork combo. just kidding, made theyre mark , or should i say a big dent in the goth world and the poetic imagery that still haunts the world of dark music.
kommt doch bitte mal wieder nach sachsen !
What guitar did he play?
an acoustic. they all sound the same. he has an electro acoustic and its plugged into an amp with reverb. sometimes he used a 12 string. hope this helps...

@KappaKorps if he es nazi, is the worst nazi ever.By the way DIJ is just great
So what?
I never really understood his politics. He started in leftis circles, left them, he is gay, but imagery, stuff he wears, even some songs include chief's (AH's) speeches... watched documents about Douglas but really still dont understand this.
"At the start of the eighties, Tony and I were involved in radical left politics and beneath it history students. In search of a political view for the future we came across National Bolshevism which is closely connected with the Sturmabteilung hierarchy. People like Gregor Strasser and Ernst Röhm who were later known as 'second revolutionaries' attracted our attention."
-Douglas Pearce
Strasser and Röhm were early prominent members of the Nazi party who combined fascism with more socialist economics (aka Third Position). Whether or not the music is good (I enjoy it), it's pretty hard to deny they have some Nazi sympathies.
29 songs - 3 chords - vocals clinging on 1 note....the most intimitating thing i´ve ever seen (intimitating because there are people out there who really seem to like this....). just boring.
What can you expect from someone who favs "40 power metal ballads in one song"?
XD
sad coment really sad
Blake Erbuse ....you can expect fine eclectic taste in music and some guitar playing skills :-). On the other hand , as i see, i cannot expect reading skills - i fave the vid "40 power metal BANDS in one song" and this guy who made it is realy amazing. if you would spend some minutes to watch over your horizont you might realize that death in june is more cult and image than music like Yanis Dyakov said . in my opinion musicanship is NOT irrelevant if i want to use the medium music to spread your ideas.
gp170276 you're free to share your derogatory comments, and i have that same freedom; this "3 chord" music is to me way more honest and profound that the sound vomit produced by those hair bands.
If you really appreciate "music that spread ideas" you couldn't even hear glam rock and their "sex, drinks, partying and rock & roll" 99% lyrics.
Blake Erbuse think we´re getting nearer to the point:-).
I want to say - if you want your ideas to be heard as artist you´ll choose a medium which you are cabable to handle best - sculptur, artist, dancer, musician, poetrist, speaker, writer...but do it good cause otherwise it will not be heard.
it´s not my intention to argue about lyrics cause if i want to read "good " lyrics i ´ll read a book and not lyric sheets (if they don´t have some taste of humor and irony from rap to nefolk, from metal to pop it´s all the same ). Music should mainly entertain and on second level open your mind for the ideas and concept behind the artist if he has something to share. For me it´s all about the music which should move.
back to topic - this live gig is just obviously NOT entertaining and i still cannot understand that people are so much into the cult death in june that they aren´t able to hear how weak the music is . Death in june tried to be serious music for serious peolpe - but for serious music it takes more than minor chords....btw "Laibach" are entertaining and have strong concepts, ramones, misfits - 3 chords and never tried to be seriuos.
I just cannot understand that lack of talent for writing listenable songs is mistaken for "true"sense for music. (similar to the "true" black metal scene while bands like fleshgod apokalypse or Dimmu Borgir are "false" black metal cause they can play :-) ).
peacable greetings from austria
GREAT! (like always)✨
