I'm not sure what "good" and "bad" is when it comes to assessing a subjective thing like music, but my experience over many years is some of those songs I might have skipped over from time-to-time on the vinyl; so many years later, they were the ones that grew on me. And to say they got me through Afghanistan 2010-2011; that might be overstating it; but most certainly it was some of those more oft-neglected tunes that I found myself humming and singing my way through it all. Not this particular song per say, but actually stuff off Jimmy's first three albums.
He helped me get to a better place in life with my beautiful wife. So much more to living than keeping up with the Joneses.

I suspect he was happiest pleasing live concert goers, and didn't really watch billboard numbers. He knew he was successful without ratings and charts. He did it his way and barefoot!! Yeaaha!!
I grew up a parrothead! My first concert was the banana wind tour age 7. Fortunately... I got to see him many many times in concert. There's nothing quite like a Jimmy Buffett concert.
I don't typically get overly sad when musicians passed away... but the passing of Jimmy devastated me! His music was the soundtrack to my life.. felt like I was losing someone close to me. Rest in peace Jimmy! We love you

66 years old, I have loved Jimmy's songs for the longest time. We've seen him in cincert twice, great show!!
Ron, I'm 74 and first saw Jimmy and the Coral Band @ The Greek Theater, amphitheater on the campus of UCB, and the rest as they is history.

I was at Jimmys Margaritavillle in Ocho Rios, Jamaica last month. I requested it from the DJ, and unbelievablely, he had never heard of it. He found it and played it, and seemed amazed there was syill a Buffet song he had never heard of!

As a kid listening to this, I thought he was singing, "Who's the blond stranger who entered my wife." I, as a child aged 5-10, never understood that line. I, as an almost 40 year old man, now understand that I was hearing the song lyrics incorrectly....but also as a grown man, understand that those lyrics might not have been completely off base.

That is indeed John Hiatt, he played on a few Buffett albums, love this album, some fans bag it because of the electric drums but I think it adds not only to the 80's flavor but also some how blends well with the steel drums, Anyhow Once again great storytelling songs and lyrics plus two heart breaking ballads, Just wish this and the other albums (CD's Kids!) around this one were remastered, surely there are enough fans for Mca or Universal (now) to remastered them or get Buffett to do it himself

I'm an Aussie and the joke is I'm from West Texas, far, far West Texas so East Texas was all new to me. Plus the football jersey has the name Graham (my first name) on the back. So an ex-surfer from Bondi ended up with a beach blonde hottie from Galveston. This had to be our song. 😉
