The vocal and writer of the song Shibu Shill is also an indie filmmaker, sculptor and writer. The song is very thoughtful, and so is the video. The director of this video Mejbaur Rahman Sumon and him both are from Charukola or the Institute of Fine Arts of Dhaka University.
And an amazing book cover artist as well.
This dusty city is yours and mine
You can come, you can go
You can merge in the gloomy dust of this world
Yet, this melancholy cloudy ancient city
Will want to get you back again and again
In this pathetic necropolis
The day of fire is counting the morning
Lone walker at the bus stop
Illness during the day and night
The city is burning
The name of that story is the address
Still unknown to me
I sang this song while standing in that story
Come to my city
Unnecessary crowd of unspoken stories
Come to my city
Unnecessary crowd of unspoken stories
I know I will never get back
The song of return is another day
Delete all red flags
The traveler of light
Revenge is deposited
Deep sadness on empty wings
Soaked in water and dust
Unknown city
Come to my city
Unnecessary crowd of unspoken stories
Come to my city
Unnecessary crowd of unspoken stories
The day of fire is counting the morning
Lone walker at the bus stop
Illness during the day and night

Their 3rd album 'Aluminium er Dana' (wings of aluminium) is finally coming out this year, as promised, after years of delay. They're not one of the commercially successful band and even until few years ago, they were considered a hidden gem. That is probably finally changing in the last couple of years.
Eso amar sohore
English lyrics
Come To My City
This dusty city
That’s yours
And mine
You may come back to it.
You may leave it.
You may succumb to the depressing dust of this world.
Yet this cloud-covered, glum old city
Will crave for you,
Ask you to come back to a wretched necropolis.
The morning’s counting days to the fiery hours.
A man in the bus-stop, a traveler drawn towards light.
The rattling nights and the plagued days
Sizzle the city.
I live in a story and sing this song,
The story that’s yet unknown to me.
-
Come back to this city of mine,
Back to the futile prattle of mine.
Come back to this city of mine,
Back to the futile prattle of mine.
I know I’d never get back,
The songs that can bring (me) back to you
A traveler drawn towards light.
-
The revenges stocked and congealed, let them be.
The pathos of the wings unengaged,
The town stands sunlit and rain-drenched,
Unknown to me.
Come back to this city of mine,
Back to the futile prattle of mine.
Come back to this city of mine,
Back to the futile prattle of mine.
The morning’s counting days to the fiery hours.
A man in the bus-stop, a traveler drawn towards light.
The rattling nights and the plagued days
Sizzle the city.
I live in a story and sing this song,
The story that’s yet unknown to me.
-
Come back to this city of mine,
Back to the futile prattle of mine.
Come back to this city of mine,
Back to the futile prattle of mine
Amazing brother, amazing indeed. A big THANKS to you.
Love your verses. Thanks.
thanks man. Beautiful translation
Your interpretation is correct. It's about Dhaka & dark sides of this city. So glad to see that how you guys felt the whole song.
It is about biting political, social and emotional commentary, it is a mixture of psychedelic space-rock & blues-based progressive rock
You guys are finding out many hidden gem of Bangladesh .... After all a good work should be accomplished by everyone.. thanks ❤️💐
I am gobsmacked how you get to recognize good music even it's in a unrecognizable language.
Through the comments on their videos.
People recommend good music to them :)
Love the fact that you guys are reacting to songs from artists like Meghdol and Minar. it's the proof that good music crosses the boundary of country and language. ❤️
Listen to Shonar Bangla Circus, you'll love it. Specially Epitaph and Hyena Express.
not so important fun fact: Anusheh's husband Seth Blumberg is a member of the band.
Meghdol is an wonderful band, and I particularly like the song " Roder fota", (A glimpse of sun"
Bangladeshi here, love that you guys are exploring and liking music from our parts. Check out Farooq Bhai Project for the epitome of bangla alt pop, it's unlike anything else. Shuno Please is a good starting point, but anything by FBP is pure class. The guy is still an underground act so if you review them hopefully more Bengalis will discover him and his brilliance. Keep up the good work guys.
You guys are indeed catching up in Bangla. I love your selection. Meghdol is one of my favorite. This is a dark but amazing production. I'm sure you've already checked out other tracks from Meghdol.
Speaking of voice, then you should also check out "Buckroom Presents: Muse in the Dusk | Session 2 | Sunny." Just voice and guitars. I think you'll like it. 😊
Oh, there is another one I like to add, "Chhobi | Indalo | Full Music Video | New Bangla Song."
@@ituhin Just heard Buckroom Presents: Muse in the Dusk | Session 2 | Sunny.Great suggestion. Good voice control and guitar play. Thanks.
@@azmjafar5047 Glad you liked it
Another incredible is "OOM | ওম | Meghdol | Rommo Khan | Droher Montre Bhalobasha | Bangla Band Song | G Series | Agniveena." This track created quite a stir, but I absolutely loved it.
Well it wasn’t Metropolis. It was Necropoleis. It's a metaphoric way to compare the city with graveyard.
Meghdol is pure bliss. One of my fav band. When is artcell and aurthohin coming up.
thank you guys for exploring some of the best bengali bands! keep it up!
That's to u guys ..I could not found this gem with out this recommended reaction from RUclips....
The director of this masterpiece is also the director of the upcoming film 'Hawa', the song (Shada Shada Kala Kala) of which you have already reviewed. You can try also 'E Hawa', 'Nirbaan', 'Roder Fota' of Meghdol.
Thank you 😊
Your music selection always unique.....awesome song with beautiful lyrics... I listen first time
I have been following your channel since day 1, but never commented. But you guys made me do it by covering Meghdol! Kudos for finding them🤘🏼
As you guys loved Meghdol, you must try Shonar Bangla Circus. Their lyrics are almost on par with Meghdol's, if not equal and their guitarist brings on amazing Jazz and Blues solos on top of it. My personal Favorite is Ondho Deyal, Mrittu Utpadon Karkhana, Hyena Express, and Shurjer Ondhokar.
I am subscribing you for this one. Never thought you would come to this. Kudos!
I was really waiting for this one.
I don't think I can really explain just how amazingly poetic their lyrics are. They always seem to have a very clear artistic vision, a sensibility that's surrealistic, sophisticated but somehow very unique to Dhaka.
About this song in particular, love for the city is so apparent, I never saw it as a lamentation, but a celebration. That even in this "tragic necropolis", beauty exists, however haunting that is. (Also, meghdol is pronounced with a د and not a ڈ , by the way)

"Esho amar shohore".
The lyrics are very unique. I wish you guys could get that 🙂
Please try to listen with subtitles to unlock the real instinct of this song. These aren't just lyrics they are heavenly tunes, completely eternal.
Thank you for loving bengali music.Much appreciation and love from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Yeah...That's Meghdol for you guys.
And obviously you guys are the ones who appreciates it properly.
Take love 💙
One of my all time favourite bands. Their lyrics are beautifully poetic. My love for them started way back in 2005/2006 with the song 'Chena Ochena' and it is still going strong. There are days when I can only listen to Meghdol on a loop. Thanks for the reaction.
You also definitely need to check out this song called Oom from Meghdol. It's from their first album and they sounded much different back then and the songs was more raw and bit less matured. Also this song probably doesn't have the composition in the same level of their recent songs, but this song still stands out for its significance and history, specially for the whole subcontinent. It's about the communal differences and violences specially in our subcontinental context and people who use religion for their own selfish reasons. However this song has created lots of shit storms over the year from the fanatic and extremist people and has even made the band face legal troubles, being chased off the stage by extremists, death threats and so on. But it's still an underground legend. Almost every concert from Meghdol will have whole crowd screaming requesting this song. But they perform it very very rarely, because every time they do, they face another new wave of extreme reaction from the religious extremists. The funny thing is, this song doesn't target any particular religion, yet extremists of every religion thinks it's against them.

haris's interpretation is spot on....
Every song lyrics composition variation is so much attractive and brilliant that's unbelievable.
Wind of change has a fusion mast kalandar sang by kailesh kher and mizan with a bangla baul song . You will love it .

I'm coming back here again after watching your reaction video to the song from Shironamhin and you mentioned there lyrical genius. Then I have to tell you Meghdol is on a different level in that. Since Kazi Nazrul Islam, I don't think any poet or musician has made up as many wordplays, phrases or lines that has such beautiful in it. The words they create from their wordplays, and the metaphorical phrases they create have become a part of the underground urban cult language. It can not be translated, let alone explained. Shibu Kumar Shil is simply one of the best poets we've ever had in Bangla language.
Beautifully said, thank you, brother. It's a wonderful experience to watch today's young geniuses from my vantage point.
