    I got this after contractiing Borrelia from a tickbite. My hip & knee joints have developed bad arthritis with effusions. Dont know if the Borrelia, Doxycycline, or a triggered autoimmune response is causing all this damage, pain, & weakness. But the constant rope burning, pins & needles, weakness from front of hips to knees hasnt improved in 2 years. Will keep trying exercises, but hard not be discouraged. Truly a life changing condition.

    Many thanks for the helpful information in your video!
    I realized i was dealing with this a few months back, and worst off is that im not able to recall anything that could have led to what im dealing with tonight, which the pain is increasing slightly more each day, tonight im beginning to feel like im going crazy like theres no way to escape these throbbing/stabbing/fire/pins & needles pain that is so unpredictable and can come at any time, riding in the car, sleeping, sitting in a relaxed posture, you name it, this is no joke and i can't begin to imagine this pain on a more intense & increased level.

      Symptoms don’t tend to get much worse than what you’re describing. It looks like you have a very irritable nerve. If the anti inflammatories don’t work then I would look for someone who can inject it for you.
      Best wishes. Stephen.

    Thank you for this video. You explain things so clearly. I recently had a cardiac ablation, with the catheter inserted in the groin area on the right. Since then, this sense of numbness in my right thigh has developed, when I'm standing and especially when I'm walking. I just self-diagnosed by reading up on conditions that can cause thigh numbness. Now I'll try the exercise suggestions and topical anti-inflammatories. Thanks again for a very clear and helpful video!

    Thank you. This has been happening for years and I have told quite a few doctors and specialists, had countless tests, and pt, but never specifically for this issue. No doctor has ever really bothered with it (despite my emphasis on the right thigh pain and numbness that follows). Fortunately for me it only strikes rarely and randomly while I sleep (or maybe unfortunately) and then fades once I manage to move out of a supine position. But once it strikes, I spend the next few weeks easily triggering it with tiny movements.
    It just struck tonight again, but when I looked up the description I finally found a name for it, which means perhaps I can finally address it. Since doctors have never helped I had given up on them and just prayed it wouldn't happen again. But of course it has. And I thank you for giving me some tools to address it.

      You’re very welcome. I’m glad it was helpful. If it doesn’t improve with the self help treatments I suggested then the definitive diagnostic test would be the injection. If it helps - even for the short term - then the diagnosis is confirmed.

    What kind of a doctor do you go see for this I've seen a neurologist but they do not do surgery and you said something about a hip doctor would that be an orthopedic doctor because I didn't know they worked on nerves I really don't know what type of surgeon would untrap the nerve

    • @PhysioMSK

      Usually it’s an Orthopaedic Hip surgeon who would treat this. Neurosurgeons sometimes treat it as well.

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK  10 месяцев назад

      Yes ... its not the usual cause but I can see how it might happen. Its encouraging that symptoms are improving. It might take another 6 months but as long as its heading in the right direction I wouldn't worry. Nerves are generally good at healing themselves.

    Oh boy I think I got this from my first pregnancy and oh my goodness the pain and the locking of my leg I’ve gained so much weight and spend so much time laying down. I’ve complained about it to my doctor and she said it was due to me being overweight. Another doctor just told me that it was normal and part of pregnancy. They never listened and here I am years and months later with the same pain it is awful. It is so hard for me to walk, that I start to waddle. I really do hope I will not need to get surgery because I cannot afford it.

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK  2 месяца назад

      The longer its left untreated then the more chance of permanent nerve damage occurring. If the symptoms of numbness are continual and unaltering then I would agree with the doctor - its probably too late for treatment to be effective. If it is bothering you enough then a specialist could try a nerve block / local injection. Pain clinics can usually do this.

    What if it's just a burning and no pain at all. But a fire burning. I got it after doing 100 leg extensions while exercising. I was pushing the burn thinking it was good. Was fine the next day only. But 2 weeks later my thigh still burns everyday when I sit or lay down. I've just been working out through it, but lessened the weight. I did take a week of rest at first, but resting didn't fix it, so I'm working out through it. It just burns like crazy but doesn't hurt. I hope it stops. I've been stretching hoping that helps. I rested for a whole week so I don't think stopping working out is going to do anything. I no longer do leg extensions until it goes away

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK  8 месяцев назад +1

      It’s not often a painful condition. A burning sensation is common. So is tingling and pins & needles. With your history MP is highly likely. Nerves can be slow to recover but generally do settle down. Try the self help suggestions and keep your fingers crossed.

    • @HA-gs7tq

      @@HA-gs7tqit's a superficial nerve not affecting muscle or exercise - as long as it's not pinned down by that ligament then there'll be no symptoms
      If ur wearing a belt to work out it might be pinching the nerve irritating it over and over

    For the past month, whenever I walk, I can feel something popping in that area (top outer thigh). There's no sound like snapping hip syndrome but its definitely uncomfortable. I've also been waking up after laying on that side to the area all numb but that disappears once I move. Today, I've had extremely bad pain and can barely lift my leg. I'm wondering if all of these symptoms are this??

    • @PhysioMSK
      @PhysioMSK  Месяц назад +1

      Yes it could be the early symptoms of this condition. If it doesn't settle down over the next few weeks then I would get it checked out. Other things it might be are a tendonitis of the Quads muscles or sartorius. Snapping hip syndrome will often clunk or pop and so it could be that. There are 2 types, internal and external depending on where the symptoms are felt. They are both on the list for a future video :-)
