Steve, this was great!! Yanno, i dont trust any trades-person any more. The ones I used over and over, back in the day, took pride in their work and I was very happy. Now there is ALWAYS something not right, so, I do a lot of bodging...I mean DIY. I did have to look at the picture of the cabinet a few times haha x

I'm with Rob here...I would be wanting to learn a new skill...helped a builder next door recently to lay some concrete bases...he leant on his shovel while I moved wheelbarrow fulls of the stuff....but at least I learned how to lay concrete...was it worth the sore back afterwards...mmm..not sure😂

I replaced the whole top - i had some boards left over. I'm not sure if he ever noticed the door fronts 😂😂😂. PS - im more than happy to work alongside mates - its those who watch with a critical eye that I don't want 😂😅

Enjoyed the ramble! Subscribed link from escape to France - Charente. Like France myself nice place can understand the move. Just on the woodworking side my lad has just started a guitar making course (fine woodworking) never picked up a chisel in his life but enjoying it. Only a couple of places in the UK that run it. Cabinet making could be a future career move if guitars are not selling! Looking forward to the chateau and all the work that involves.
