Nice little review, Manuel 👍
Thanks guys! Glad you like it!
Does it give a false reading mounted on the transom???
Is there a newer model out yet?
I am concerned about the wide support bracket. This must affect the wind coming from that side and cause some turbulence and hence false readings?
I beloeve the instrument is still the same, we did upgrade to a carbon mount thoigh, which is a bit longer and a lot thinner
Does it do NMEA out too? Would not be to difficult for the developers to add that on wifi so it can be routed to OpenCPN and Kplex.
Not by default, but there is an NMEA link in the making for 0183 and 2000 version. Hoping to be able to test that one soon as well!
@@ProjectManaia good job
how about the birds? Are they sitting on it and ruining it including pist on it as well ;(
No issues (yet). but it is one of the reasons why I keep it on the rails at the moment. Our old raymarine masttop anemometer was taken down by crows... so no matter what device you got up there the birds can always get you...
So a year later do you feel this was still a good purchase ? Have there been any problems or failures ? Thanks
While we are currently not using it because of lockdown we did have minor troubke in the end of thr season with connectivity dropping on occasion. In a matter of a day the producers offered to swap for a brand new unit we now have here waiting to go to the mizzen mast. So for now happy, the system works but you have to find a spot out of wind blockages, which is why ours will move to the top of the mizzen mast...
400 Euro seems prohibitive ... ?
It sure is a cheaper, and also simpler option than most!
Sorry, fell in the non native speaker trap there.... i dont feel like it is expensive for what it can do, depending on the use for an anemometer it is a way cheaper option than raymarine st60 for example. Also simple mounting. Granted there is cheaper anemometers out there but those would usually give you only windspeed and no direction....
I think it's a little deceptive calling this open source.
By now perhaps yes. At thetime thats what it was. Still it is very hackable if you are tech affine and want to i tegrate to a rasoberry pi sort of setup
