I agree....except in a kitchen/great room space....need to have rug in the great room half...but not in the kitchen; mind you, we did the vinyl plank, not hardwood...best thing ever!

Just carpet the whole room. Why put down expensive wooden flooring then cover most of it with an expensive rug?
