    We’ve been using the Model1 in our studio and for our lives since it came out, and I have to say your video is the best one I’ve seen. so, i picked up a behringer DDM 4000 at a very good price, along with an Alesis S 12 channel mixer, and thought to myself, im going to connect them both and use them in my production, and wondered if anyone else had thought of this idea. so i popped that question into youtube, and voila, here you popped up, along with several others, using a DJ mixer in production, and boy was i shocked. what im loving about my accidental discovery , is that ive got so many more options than i realized, ive got direct outputs on both mixers, along with midi on the behringer, a multitude of fx on the behringer, and im also using native instruments komplete audio 6 which gives me even more options using sends and returns in even more creative ways. Im just now hooking it all up, and will be experimenting to see just what all is possible, so i wanted to thank you for posting this video, its extremely enlightening, and once ive got my rig setup and working ill do a video, so you and some others that are curious about the possibilities can see the potential im just now realizing, thanks to you!

    Excellent video, this is is exactly the way I've forseen to use this mixer for my studio! One big feature you didn't touch upon are the two D-sub INs & OUTs that allow up to 16-channel analog ins & 8-channel analog outs via D-sub connectors. This means the Model1 can double as an amazing summing mixer for your DAW (especially if you have D-sub I/Os such as Antelope Orion)!

    Hey, thanks for this. I ran an Ableton project through my model1 via 5 stem layers, performed live, resampled into DAW via the 1/8" record jack on the top of the mixer. My question is, how have you worked through any audio spikes when resampling the performance? I had a couple of loud moments, likely when sending too much audio to my reverb pedal OR to my Zen Delay... and as such, the final print sounds great - but overall is about 5db lower than otherwise would be in DAW... Any suggestions would be MUCH appreciated! I mean, other than "watch the knobs and levels, bro" :)

    It has tons of coolness factor but other than the great filters, not really advantageous over normal mixers it seems. No inserts (which can be used for isolated outs and limited aux send returns/ no xlr inputs/ no mono channels/ no L/R fader separation/ no built in fx. So this Is a big bill for manly filter eq, aesthetic, tiny bit of saturation I feel like.

    That’s really interesting about the camera feed.
    So if I get an rca to mini jack, going from a main output on my interface to mini jack mic input it will record the audio alongside the video? As I’ve been filming in the room, and recording in Logic, then muting the cameras in room sound and syncing it with the audio and footage in Final Cut.
    So can I just get an rca to camera mic input and all will be good?

    excellent video. I just received mine and my only gripe is that a) no individual outs as u mention b) no mono source for a mono synth which means you need to sacrifice a stereo channel. c) DB25 connector can be a bit of a pain until you find a suitable cable that stays on properly.... other than that, absolutely love the sound... by and large my favourite sounding mixer

The analog circuit seems to be very promising and you can integrate outboard gear. I don’t wanna record through it, that is not possible, but to benefit from the EQ’s, Filters and add subtle harmonics would be great.

    Nice man! You inspired me and I also recently bought the Model 1 mixer, beautiful sound. I have a few minor 'issues' I noticed. 1) in a dark environment, I can see the white prefader&line/dsub buttons at the top stil be a bit lit (and asymmetrical, one more than the other) when they are 'off'. Do you have this too? 2) I can hear a hum/buzz through cue A (when set to 100% mix) on my headphone, when the level (volume) is set at >70%, and 3) when I use the 'master filter on' button as a performance tool, so playing with the master filter and then quickly switching it off by hitting the 'master filter on' button, I do hear a (minor) click sometimes. Isnt this supposed to be silent (zero crossing technology)? Would be great if you could find the time to check with your unit and let me know if you also experience this 3 things. Its not a very big deal, but just wanna make sure my unit is not faulty, its 3k so now is the time to make sure (still under warranty).

It seems to be random on each channel that if the slider isnt above -6 or -12 then it wont switch the master eq for that channel on/off or there is a slight delay. As someone who is first and foremost a dj and not a producer other than for the love of the sound of synthesizers and drum machines, I'm wishing for a dj mixer with more channels to use for gear as well as dj'ing. I don't have the justification of $$$ for a separate mixing console yet. I don't like the Allen + Heath filters, resonance is too harsh and has that tiny pop. The Model 1 has zero crossing detection circuit and filters sound very pleasing. This mixer is really well designed by Ritchie but the omission of a crossfader doesn't work for me personally. Damnit! I use both line level faders and crossfader to mix. I understand this is based off mixing from Ableton where the hardware matches the software. I installed an Innofader the past weekend and it was a revelation to say the least. It puts even stuff like the Eternal faders to shame. I'll be happy for a long time. Still lusting for the perfect mixer.

    Nice idea to use the mixer as an instrument rather than a 'middle-hardware' only. Can a cheaper 'DJ' alternative like Traktor S4 could do the job, with some additional live 'samples' integration and manipulation?

    • @MrFullyCharged
      @MrFullyCharged Год назад

      You can print four stem layers from your DAW and import them into the S4, and then "mix" the four stem layers as four DECKS on the unit, using the Traktor effects inside - and record that entire output as your newly bounced track. HOWEVER the pieces you will be missing - external effects and the analog sound of the filters/distortion. You can absolutely live without those things and use the S4. A very famous global producer/dj actually (secretly) does this exact thing to make his tracks come alive. He "mixes" the stems on his Traktor rig, saves the audio, then sends to his mastering plugs. It can be done. Think outside of the box!

    • @MrFullyCharged
      @MrFullyCharged Год назад

      @@Gruftgrabbler The best you could do- run the audio output of the s4 to an effects processor - OR run a cable from the headphone out, to an external effects unit. Use it as a send. To return this/record this, just run the resultant audio from the effects unit into your audio interface and record in your DAW.

    Nothing wromg with using it as a producer mixer . Its not what you use its how you use it. It actually makes perfect sense to use a dj mixer, they are often built well, and somehave great effects and filters, the model 1 is no exception. I would say another mixer that would be good is allan & Heathe especially given they have nice 4 band eq. And great filters! , and even the new expensive pioneer might do a good job. Theres so many and, Its crazy to me that as producers we dont often use dj mixers. I get that the lack of channels can be a thing, but, some dj mixers have a lot of channels. But, if you can afford 2 high end mixers, why not try that? Lol that would be awesome.
