I think literally the only part about LTG's on-camera antics being an 'act', is how tough he tries to be. Take all the times he tries starting shit with a specific player he doesn't like. Many of them have challenged him to real-life boxing matches, and he's ducked them on every occasion. And on the rare moon where he gets to put his money where his shark-toothed mouth is for a fighting game, he's had his face and his soul kicked in, on every single match he's ever participated in. EVO, The Challenger, local tourneys, you name it. So really, the act is two-fold - he's not the tough guy he pretends to be, and he's lightyears away from being a pro at fighting games. If he invited some friends over for a couch tourney, yeah he'd probably cook them convincingly since he knows frame data and gimmicks. If he had any real fundamentals, he'd have a tournament record to boast. Sponsors are willing to put up with a PR risk if the player is actually known for winning, but all he's known for is losing at the times he needed to succeed the most. So yeah, I don't think any of his 'theatrics' is an act - neither does Hollywood, incidentally. This geriatric is also a failed actor. I laugh at him too, but not because I think he knows how to be funny.
After his loss to Viscant on his own game via Monday Night Fights, he is... DECENT as a player, but his mentality is like a L magnet.
If he was JUST being a character, I would think of him as no big deal, but when you are rage quitting or starting actual beef...yeah, to the Shadow Realm with you.
He’s lucky Namco isn’t like Riot. If you quit in a Valorant game, they give you a warning the first time. Eventually if you keep quitting you get suspended for a day, few days, a week then eventually perma banned.

On the idea you mention where pluggers are put in "jail," you could put them in a queue with other pluggers and have to earn their way out by winning a certain amount of games.
Also it's really odd that he's detached from reality and what he's doing by hiding behind an excuse of "it's for entertainment"
I agree with this. Maybe the jail should equal the disconnection rate or something to that effect. The account ID hits the server and it bounces back with a DC number that can only match with other players of the same number "maybe" with a 1-2% margin of error. And like you said, in order to get out of jail, you have to a) not plug while at the same time b) get a certain number of wins. Continue to plug and the number increases along with the number of wins to get out of jail. Throw in an auto demotion because why not? Leave us zero percenters alone.
Games like DotA already do this. I find it unimaginable that a game with the profile of Tekken 8 can release in such a state that compromises the integrity of the online competitive experience. It's truly mind boggling that this is an afterthought.
Killer instinct does this because I got paired with a bunch after I was having problems connecting to ranked matches they wouldn't actually start but disconnect at the loading screen into the match and I kept losing points before getting matched with rqers
I think trolling pluggers is more funny add a rank called Pathetic and make it where they have to fight other pluggers and they get negative points so you can’t rank up and the only way to reset your rank is to not plug anymore with waiting a time limit

If they fixed it then people would see that he's a plugger BEFORE they waste their time playing against him, they'd get matchmade against other fellow honorable players, nobody would play with him, he'd never win points and rank up, and everything would be good!

It's funny that old mate used to go through multiple xbox 360s during SF4 due to constantly being console banned because of bad behavior, including rage quitting. That was 16 years ago and he still hasn't gotten the hint that there is consequence to rage quitting regardless of what ever excuse he thinks of: "I paid for the game", "I never read ToS", "it's tekken, who reads the ToS?", "Punishing free will", etc

i think the reason that they wont implement a system in tk8 to take away points from pluggers,isnt because of the shop or they dont want cuz its hurting the game and everything in it, its because they cant atleast right now! they have spend all of their budget on the core game and not the online part of it and the online structer is basically the same as TK7 and BN servers cant identify which person is plugging and which isnt,thats why the dissconnect ratio still doesnt work!they were incompettent before release they cant say it but it is what it is! i think we have to give them time to fix this and they can ban and timeout people until then

You own the game and that means you can play it offline. The online feature is not something that you "own", the game company offers an online system for matchmaking and this happens on their end. This means they have the right to deny the service to you. Yeah, you bought the game, so you can play it without their matchmaking service.

As someone that is new to tekken, it kinda is the perfect fighting games and to me just better then all of them. I dont even play the other fighting games no more. Losing is how i got better! I win over half my matches already by losing and getting better mastering everybody moves and timing helps you to know how to fight every character.

I was playing ranked in SF6 a few months ago. And due to some connection issues on my part (my internet was being really shitty that day) I got put in ranked hell....Yellow and red carded folks who always leave/disconnect/have awful connections.
I hated this so much I grinded rank until I got back in the regular ranked pool. Never wanna be there again! 😂

What you are suggesting is the lighter version of the K.I. ranked system fix for rage quitters. Rage quitters go down into a rage quit hell where they only get to play against other rage quitters until they complete a ceratin number of matches! And since everyone down there is rage quitters they never get out. 😂😂😂

I was actually scared I might get banned since in my first week of playing tekken my internet kept going down. Seems that my disconnect % wasn’t high enough so LTG must’ve been plugging a fair bit for that to be the case

I dont think rage quitting is bad enough to warrent a permanent ban and would much rather just have them lose points. Namco skipping the most obvious punishment and going right to the nuclear option is quite frankly insane.
Rage quitting isnt exactly "cheating" just extremely unsportsmanlike. They do it to protect their points, so as punishment get rid of their points no matter what and give the remaining player a win, everyone is happy.
This whole idea that lawsuits are coming for lightly punishing rage quitters is weird when they will go nuclear on the most extreme cases only is awful.

Well, I think players like Mike would disagree; boosting most assuredly is cheating. Disconnecting in any game is unsportsmanlike, but when there's literally no penalty to plugging, Tekken is cultivating an environment where you are literally rewarded for - you guessed it, cheating. He's artificially raising his rank to a threshold that doesn't reflect his actual skill level. I think if he had a money match with anyone in Blue, first to five, he'd be losing both his money and his rank at the speed of whiplash.
I agree with everything else though. It's really odd that Harada's team would skip the more reasonable and effective means of keeping players honest. They exist in other games, and have kept the reputations of said games mostly rather pristine. Naturally they haven't had any legal problems yet, either. It's really hard to put my finger on what kind of strategy they've been trying to use, or what precedent they're trying to set with a situation that was laughably avoidable.
Yeah it should be a temp ban and get progressively harsher for each plug within a period of time.

A lot of games have a "restricted bracket" so that players who often quit or disconnect only play against other players who often quit.
This "prison" system exists in SF6. If you rage quit too much you'll get an yellow card and from what I understand if you have a yellow card you'll only get matchups agains aother yellow cards. If you rage quit while you have an Yellow card you'll get a Red card. I don't know how Red card works but it's either you'll only face red cards for a long time or you cannot play ranked anymore.
That's why SF6 ranked system is better than Tekken 8.

I have reached master rank with Jamie which is considered almost bottom tier in every tier list out there and I'm not good in SF. I have also reached Diamond 1 with 3 different characters even though I have just made my FT10. T8 rank system isn't great as well but there's less than 1% of the player base on Tekken God of Destruction and I don't know SF6 numbers but I would bet that at LEAST 5% of it's players are on master ranks.@@LEWfromdaHOU
Nope, in terms of punishment SF6 is definetely superios but it's rank system is much worse. I have reached master rank with Jamie, a bottom tier character and I'm not even good at SF. Meanwhile I have played Tekken since T1 and I'm pretty sure I will not reach God of Destruction unless I put a LOT of time and effort into it and even then I might not be able to reach it even if I use a top tier character. @@LEWfromdaHOU
The simplest way to get rid of plugging is make it that they lose a complete rank!!! Now obviously you can’t do this if somebody just has one day a bad Internet (it happens) but it disconnected matches should be tracked. If it shows that somebody is consistently doing it on separate days, then they should be given a warning going forward that each time they disconnect they will lose a complete rank. After 20 complete matches it can be lifted but if they go back to it it just becomes permanent. One thing I completely agree with this guy is he pays for the product and this corporation is telling him he can’t use it. Also let pluckers play against plugers simple as that

Like I said there are ways to go about dealing with this correctly. Telling somebody that they can’t access something they paid for should be illegal. He should just lose ranks every time he quits and be put into a matches with people that also quit. (At the end of the day it is a video game it’s not that important)
Best way is to give points to the player who didn't RQ, I legit don't care if my opponent is 3 ranks higher than they should I will just take the easy points.
Give them a time out penalty after plugging some times.

Dota 2 does something similar to a "jail" you get put into low priority, which means you have to win a set amount of matches. Thing is you're more or less in a gulag. Because you are matched with others in that same situation. No one is allowed to leave the match or it doesn't count.

Hey Mike, is there a way to make your Jail idea up to Harada? it's a good idea. when their rank goes lower, it makes it easier for them to win, so the system works, but they still need to be good to win
add a jail incon as well, so that everyone that fight them will try to win against them to ruin their streak.

12:45 I kinda like that idea. And if they plugged again during in Ranked jail, they get demoted and start over the 10 win streak all over again. This makes them to actually put in the work to learn to get better like everyone else (that not pluggers/cheaters) or leave the game.
