The tip about lowering textures down is absolutely criminal. Textures are the best bang for your buck for the fps cost per quality increase

    • @lloydaran
      @lloydaran Год назад +62

Also, their cost is mostly paid in terms of memory and, if you have 6 or more GBs, at 1080p you will be fine using Ultra quality textures with most games.

There are countless other graphics settings (like bloom and reflections) that you should try turning off before what they recommend. Higher quality textures will give you better bang for the buck than almost any other setting, as long as you don't over-extend what your GPU's memory can hold. As for anti-aliasing, don't turn it off entirely, but keep it at a very minimal setting; it helps a lot with the quality and you get most of the benefit with the fastest settings.

Shadows are always the first graphics effect I turn off for performance. They only look good on the highest settings and most games have enough other lighting effects that you won't see the difference when you're invested in the gameplay. That being said, depth of field and bloom always get turned off by default. Most games way over use them and make it hard to see what you're doing while also impacting performance.

Msi afterburner also has an OC scan that will OC in about 30m. It is decent. DLSS for sure, but game dependent because of ghosting problems or blurry foliage. This is all great advice but with some horrible misdirection. DLSS and FSR can be used on most if not all games/GPUs. Some have it natively, some you can mod it into (depending on the game engine). Also don’t change core and mem clock at the same time let alone that much. Start with core, increase 10-20 and run Kombustor until it crashes or shows artifacts, then increase mem clock by 10-20 until the same thing happens. THEN decrease by 10-20 respectively and you will have a very stable OC card.

Most gpus i overclocked we're running perfectly fine with +700 to +1000 MHz on the memory. Also, I wouldn't recommend overclocking the newer gpus, because they are running close to max performance and drain a huge amount of power and therefore create lots of heat.
I am personally running my 1080ti at 75% power and paired with lower voltages through curve editor and a memory oc of +800mhz, i only lose 5% performance while never drawing more then 200 watt (before, it drew about 250w)

Things that effect lighting like ambient occlusion and Shadow settings eat the most fps when dealing with low to mid cards.
But yes, MSI Afterburner is a must.

    +more stable clock and frames
    +less power consumption
    >no run into power limit
    +max 74° in a NZXT 510 Flow
    >no run into temp limit
    +longer lifetime for GPU
maybe linus should make a video about it!?

Regarding overclocking though? Some parts are built to be overclocked while others aren't so might wanna do some homework before just deciding to do it. Plus do remember overclocking does put more strain on the part so beware it'll possibly reduce it's lifespan.

Ok, can anyone help? I have a Radeon rx 6700 (non xt model) from xfx. Specifically, the xfx speedster swft 309. When I got MSI afterburner, I made all the adjustments normally and incrementally. I ended up maxing out all settings, gaining 10+ fps in msi kombuster. I didn't crash, freeze, or see anything wrong. Is this normal for my graphics card? Is msi afterburner just holding it back? Did I just get insanely luckey at the silicon lottery? Or is it just not a huge overclock to begin with? For anyone wondering, it only reaches 52°C when maxed out, and im using a custom fan curve.

  • @maxzett

    for OCing:
    - max out the Power/Temp Slider
    - start at +140 on the Core (raise in 20mhz increments until it crashes, then finetune)
    - start at +1200 on the Memory (raise in 100mhz increments until it crashes, then finetune).
(numbers apply to everything NVIDIA thats relatively current gen). For starting numbers feel free to do some google search.
    However:
Keep in mind that Memory OC doesn't bring as much improvement as Core OC, and sometimes a too agressive Mem OC can hurt your Core OC (which should be prioritized).
The 10mhz increments given in the video are BS, as for the Memory you'll be sitting for YEARS until you hit max.
Make sure to test your OC.
If it can do a 3D Mark Run and a 3D Mark Stability Test it's usually fine for 98% of the cases
