McDermott's bullet flying header against Tottenham forty-one years ago was a classic.

Terry McDermott was one of the greatest Liverpool I have ever seen , goals not many tap ins but what a guy. And he played in black boots.

As a non Liverpool fan, Terry McDermott was so skilful as well as he can tackle in the midfield for Liverpool. McDermott’ great goal against Tottenham in 77/78 when Liverpool destroyed them 7-0 at Anfield. McDermott’s flying header clinical.

All those goals he scored at Anfield, I witnessed them ... he was world class, his goal v Everton in the 77 FA Cup semi was voted goal of the season on Match of the Day and the one against Aberdeen was brill ... his running off the ball (just like Ray Kennedy) was visionary.

Should be much higher than 37th in the list (I like the others, too, but Terry Mac was magnificent). Brilliant player. Scored so many goals, usually spectacular goals too. Massive part of the strongest Liverpool team from 74-82 . I seem to remember he was the first player to win both Players' Player of the Year Award and Football Writer's Player of the Year Award in the same season. Amazing engine, fabulous passing and a sharp eye for goal. How I wish Liverpool had a goal scoring midfielder like that now. And such skill on what were mostly awful quality football pitches and little protection from referees.

Top 5 at least for Terry. Sublime skills coupled with magnificent work rate made him a very very special LFC legend.

My favourite player too. Hugely under-rated. Seemed like he scored goal-of-the-season for about 4 years running.

And Wilkins and Robson never scored goals anywhere near the quality of McDermott..but outside Liverpool fans..others wouldn't give him the respect he deserved.

We all watch International tournaments and see the world's best players score brilliant goals. But I can honestly say that two of the greatest goals I have ever seen were local players. Sharpies rocket shot against Liverpool in 85 and Terry Macs header in the 7 - 0 win against Spurs in 78. Pure gems.

The story about Terry blowing the 'trumpet' at Villa Park when loads of Liverpool players broke on goal when they were 3-0 up... one would assume they would have scored and made it 4-0. However, Liverpool never scored 4 goals at Villa during Terry's time, and I would have thought I would have heard about it at the time too. The only match it could've been would've been in 1978 when Liverpool won 3-0 with all 1st half goals, so I take it they somehow messed up the opportunity.
