It's also a fork from the old MOBA: Paragon. There's another MOBA that released months ago that was also a fork from paragon.
Loved playing Paragon, just sad that the devs didn't quite understand what the community liked about it.
Really was hoping for the inevitable "passing of the torch", but all these splinter projects make it hard to see which one is THE successor to follow.

...it also helps I got it free on EGS a while back as a weekly free game, so the barrier to entry is low.
Fork?
It's a term for when a game splits in different directions. Like there was paragon MOBA. It had shut down. And then like three new games have popped up from the remnents of Paragon, using the same characters+Abilities but all of them doing things a bit differently. Mostly a term used for software or open-source games. They'll have forks when there's major deviations.@@chrishancock5686

It is a revived Paragon, a group of dedicated fans made it their mission to bring it back and make it better after it was canned by the original devs, you could say that it's a passion project.
@@TheChesher this is about the 4th of those passion projects. while Overprime was the most polished and best in terms of feel and look of all of them, Predecessor wasn't too far behind. Fault was the first and was also the worst. i could have sworn there was one more but maybe there were only 3. and now Overprime is basically offline, now too, and was likely due to a big greedy company being the investors. because the game was quite popular but only in Korea. and considering the korean investors still pulled the plut on it make me worry about Predecessor. because Overprime had larger player numbers than this game.
Smite is on it's 11th year and is also 3rd person, they are making Smite 2 now also on UE5
And everyone is pissed about it smite 2 doesnt need to happen they are just copying overwatch also didnt need a sequel
@@derekwilhelm1555 i am really excites for it, smite need that to increase it's playerbase, apart fron graphics they are doing many improvements in quiality of lofe
@@MrKaraSucia yet they chose not to port all the skins from 1 to 2 which overwatch u can im not comparing the games cuz they are different playstyles
@@derekwilhelm1555 yeah, the difference is they are skins from 10 years. I dont know if what they day ks true but that would take a lot of years of a person working on transitioning then since it's a whole new game.

Good to see the legacy of Paragon lives on in some form.
It’s the last one. There were 4 of them and the 2nd to last one is in the midst of shutting down this month. So predecessor is the last one. If this one shuts down thatll likely mean paragon is gone for good
@@vincentdarkrosrayne unfortunate, but it does mean there is now just one singular game to rally behind instead of multiple doing the same thing.
@@MechaMan2012 here's hoping that the companies that are funding predecessor see that there's enough return on investment that they don't decide to pull the plug on this game as well. I may not be a big fan of predecessor but I hate to see this game go under as well

I thought when paragon shut down it was just the end, not that there were more lol
@@chrishancock5686 when paragon shut down, Epic Games released the assets for free for use. Fans still wanted a Paragon-like game to exist, so some development teams started making their own Paragon-likes, using the assets but building and structuring it their own way. Seems like there were 4 separate teams making their own versions, but Predecessor seems to be the last one that is still alive at this point.

Another moba that does 3rd person is Smite, and Smite is now getting a UE5 sequel in Smite 2.
Man I really missed Paragon, I hope this game will make it big. I still hold a grudge on Fortnite and Epic for killing the game
As a massive Paragon player from the old days who really enjoys Pred and hopes to see it succeed, im very glad to see it reach more people and be dicussed by more of the content creators i enjoy. I encourage everyone who's interested to give it a try, and thanks for supporting my favourite game

Its funny how all the other fanmade paragons died and predecessor is the last studio standing i hope it continues in a good way could be maybe the next smite Given enough of a team and budget.

@Pedro8675309 Hopefully the game can continue going as long as possible. Luckily, the game is in the best possible hands with Omeda Studios. but it's still crucial to give Predecessor and Omeda as much support as we can to ensure that they can continue to make the game the best it can be

Man , don’t listen to those whiny ahhh people. Make whatever videos YOU want. If you took hours to make it and YOU wanted to post it continue doing it. There are subs who subscribed for you and others for ONLY fallout content. The fallout only people watch literally any other video and be just as satisfied.
Do this video is so wrong. This game is not the first 3rd person MOBA built on unreal, that was Paragon. Paragon died because EPIC decided to focus on Fortnight instead. Later Epic released the digital assets for Paragon onto the Unreal Marketplace as free assets, only stipulation was that creators could not use the name “Paragon.” Instead of creators using the assets to make a completely original game, developers just made Paragon clones. Games identical to the original, only different in name.
Games like:
Fault
Overthrow
Overprime
And now Predecessor.
I’m know there are a few more, I’m just forgetting the names. None have really picked up much traction, some have been littered with viruses and spam links for pørn sites. And they’ve all looked identical, because they are.
Predecessor is the most promising one, also seeming to be the safest, but why are you making it out to be as innovative and original as you are? And are we sure it’s really going to be reliable to stick around, and none of the others have? These clones are just a meme at this point.
Edit: you can literally find the assets still on Unreal Marketplace. In the categories bar, they’re under “Unreal Assets” or something to that nature. Everyone can download and use them for free. I’ve had them for years, so there’s nothing new here.

This character, the skins, the abilities, all of it: was in the original game, and every game in between.
The base character for Iggy and Scorch, the skins, even ability effects are all cut&paste from the original game. Only the name has changed. They are all free assets from the original game and available on the UE Marketplace. No creativity on the part of the Predecessor Devs.
And I love your channel btw, subscribed for a long while now. Kinda sad to see you didn’t actually do your research on this one though.
He was too eager to get that money. But yea, anyone lightly paying attention to MOBAs for the last several years would immediately spot this as a Paragon iteration.

Paragon was. Epic released the files to the world, this is one of the games trying to recreate it.

Huh looks interesting can't be worse than smite or paladins considering smite changes so much every time i play it its like relearning the whole game and paladins is frankly just boring and a bad rip off of battle born.
