Please don't stop the uploads post covid. Seeing players who inspired me to play Rugby and seeing players I consider seasoned vets in the same team is fantastic! 🏉
We do. Eddie is just not putting them into the squad. Richard wigglesworth has been a better player for years and now there are several to choose from.
@@adamclarke7029 I'd add Jack Maunder to that list too. Already has an England cap to his name, has age on his side and with Nic White going back to Australia, I can see him getting a lot more game time next season.
Christ I can remember being up early in the morning as an Aussie to watch this and blowing my stack when Chris Ashton scored that runaway, honestly that cackling face of his still wakes me up in my sleep. Christ on a bike. Shame for Ashton he didn't really fulfill his potential. Good game anyway
Dont recall this match first time round, just the highlights, thank you for uploading. Looking forward to watching the 2016 tour back to back if i can find them!
Who's that skinny bloke wearing number 4? I"m a Wallabies fan and very far from being an England fan, but maximum respect to him. Still a very, very good player 11 years later. Was one of the Lions best even this year
Ashton, the best finisher in the Northern Hemisphere if not World Rugby, his tries to game ratio surpass any one else. TopTry Scorer in the Top 14, Top Try Sorer in the ERC, Soon to be Top Try Scorer in the Premiership, no body can touch his stats, should still be playing International Rugby
O'Connor's poor kicking made the difference. If he had slotted them in the Wallabies would have been in the game all the way, would have been more motivated and would have played much better. England made few mistakes and the crowd was behind them. Two very good teams, one played better on the day.
@@Cr4igpeterson I'm surprised none of the commentators mentioned it. It was so painfully obvious. I assume they didn't want to hurt his feelings, it was only his first cap after all, poor baby. We live in such a feminized age.
First cap? The commentators said he already had 25! It certainly would have been a different last quarter with just a point in it! We really deserved it though I thought, we had so many stand out performers.
The England side 2001-03 were offloading machines, executing the basics brilliantly from prop to fullback. Check out the six Nations highlights from that time
In retrospect. The actual quality of this game was quite poor. The handling of england and the tackling ability of Australia was not of an almighty standard. Still test match level, but not warrenting the sudden explosion of hopeful excitement in english rugby that occured after this. So why did that happen? Well because it was after a relative quagmire of success and excitement. No 6N title for 7 years, world cup final but in warrior fashion, not quality fashion. And this game was the anouncement of real talent realising its potential. Youngs, Lawes, ashton, hartley. Suddenly these guys prove they can do it at test level against a really great australia team. These guys had caps already and played well for england before. But they'd finally clicked. I can feel the flame i felt when i saw this live. Some moments never leave you.
The scrums were always so dangerous and you would rarely get one that lasted more than two seconds. I remember playing (about 11 or 12 at the times) after they'd changed the rules and thinking that it was just so much better.
This was a good win but I really regret wasting four years under Johnson. The guy was a legendary player but he never should have been made head coach with zero experience.

I'd forgotten Dan Cole ever had any hair!
the new
Still one of the all time great England tries that from Ashton!
Very True! That too against the Aussies. Love that!😋
I had the very good fortune of being there that day. One of the greatest matches I have ever seen!
yes i was there too, always remember ashtons burst
I only started watching rugby in 2011, so this is a new one for me.
It's a good one.
@@thj6293 . OK. Thanks.
@@thj6293 .You were right.
scour youtube there are some cracking old games especially from southern hemisphere....Aus vs new Zealand & England vs Wales
Ben Youngs was class
Still is.
Yeah the break at 9:40ish was amazing

Really was one of the best tries I have ever seen! Very enjoyable. Thank you for posting.
10 years later and we still have no viable replacement for Youngs. Crazy.

Alex Mitchell, Ben Spencer, Dan Robson??? Plenty of players who could see us through to the next world cup

1:00:45 stadium celebrating gave me chills.
Beautiful, such a confident English team. Makes social distancing a pleasure!😁
Great effort by England. Twelve years later, Ben Youngs and Courtney Lawes are still part of the England squad.
2024 Dan Cole plays against New Zealand
WOW! Dont know half of the players on the pitch for England but my god they were good. Just shows how many amazing names go under the radar
Particularly enjoyed 38:37 when the commentator trips over his words and refers to a certain Aussie player as Quade Pooper...
England gives australia nightmares for a long time now
That Thompson line out was magnificent
these jerseys are nostalgic asf
This courtney Lawes Lad might be a player

What a couple wingers too have, prime Ashton and Cueto
chris ashton still an amzing try!!!!
Why oh why did Lancaster drop Ashton and curtail his England tenure.
Thanks for keeping me going without me going crazy

Adam Murcott trust me but Courtney laws with a buzz cut 😂😂
Bhebbard2003 that’s very bad but the freeze frame of Ben Young’s after the anthem was just funny 😂

Why the booing?, listen to the Aussies during the 2003 quarter final against Wales when Jonny was kicking.
Like if England will win 2023 World Cup

esmond kamalie nah
Don’t write shit like that. We’re hated enough as it is
1:13:36- big hit from Sheridan
I think the booing was more for the length of time OConnor was taking the crowd started quiet but got fed up waiting on him

David Robertson you’re spot on, completely different game if OZ made those kicks. 4 pens and a conversion? 14 points at least.

Defenses have got tighter and more defined
Players seem to move up faster and as for the offside line .......
When Ben Young’s was young and beofre Owen Farrell was even on the bench💀
Toby Floods eyebrows on fleek 👀
Why did England wear the away kit if they were at home and there was no kit clash?

I just had to mute the sound. Doesn't Stuart Barnes like the sound of his own voice!
youngs played with tindall? wow thats hard to believe they crossed over
Wilko and Shaw were playing internationals before Tindall. Shaw was first to be capped in 1996 That's nearly 25 years between 2 players.

Ben Foden! Should have had more caps.
Absolutely!
As England perform well in 1 of the few times they wear red & black, they should wear more black.
So what if there is no black on the English flag?
No release or roll away from the ruck that caused the turn over for the break away try. Poor

Big game.
Some poor decision making by the Oz: why let 20 y/o O'Connor kicking from 50m out in front of 80k angry booing English fans? Pointless.
England crowd in later years 'respected the kicker'... not in this game
