After the game in the live stream, Serral was laughing and Showtime tells him "WTF Joona" Serral was rolling. Great moment. That game was insane to see live.
it took that match? I feel like Serral needs his own balance patch as he constantly uses units that are considered mediocre to amazing effect and to balance zerg for Serral would mean they would be dramatically underpowered for everyone else.
If that's not the epitome of this match up, in every possible way, then I don't know Starcraft at all. That was amazing. Thanks for casting this Winter
An incredible game for sure, it felt like to me that show time had the edge for most of the late back, and a few critical mistakes got him. Losing those last of sand oracle hurt SO bad. Crazy how ~40 minute game at ~ 400 apm, and it all comes down to just a few moments and few clicks. Such an intense game.
My Dad tells me of a tennis player from his high school, who did not necessarily have the strongest strokes, but he could return anything. It was just a matter of defending until his opponent made a mistake. He would basically just lob it back to his opponent. It took him all the way to state, where he got matched up against another such player, and it was a loooooooooong match. Both Serral and Showtime have the reputation of going for the type of build where you defend, but don't break, until you eventually just outlast the opponent.
That final infestor was down to EIGHT hit points when the observer stopped beaming it and ran away from the Queens (which then hit the observer). If the observer had carried on half a second longer Serral would've lost his neural parasite ability and possibly the game
Instead of nerfing Zerg, they need to add one or two more Zerg units to the game and then redistribute the abilities. Zerg is so frustrating before lair because you are so limited in what units you have accessible, especially with queens being the best anti air. But come late game, Zergs have a glut of options with a very indiverse army composition, allowing them to blanket counter almost everything. Comparing the races, unit for unit, ability for ability, it seems pretty balanced except that Protoss have their abilities spread out over 11 units compared the Zerg's 9. It is not cost efficiency, it is imbalance.
also why the fuck did he kept his voidrays home, he could have used them to threaten/kill the queens and infestors, instead of leaving 2 lone tempests to get neural'd
Right? It wasn't just the last oracle, he kept losing observers by putting them in in the middle of the map, just there for the taking while Serral rotated. Great, now you know his army was there, for the cost of an observer, how dumb is that?
I have often asked for Tempests to do splash damage, even if it is an upgrade, and even if it is as little as Archons do. Do you think such a change would have been enough to swing this match in Showtime's favor?
If someone were truly interested in balancing the game, interceptors would not cost minerals, storm would be as effective as fungal and parasitic bomb, feedback would do as much damage as EMP, and there would be at least one more zerg unit to spread abilities around.
Maybe you can have different categories. Like, best macro game and best cheese; and best cheese into macro game; and best cheese into cheese into all-in into macro game into base trade into corner stalemate. Those are the options, right, did I miss any?
i feel like after seeing the infestor in that late game scenario showtime just needed to keep the voids with the tempest to protect just have everything together and I think he wins
Zerg is definitely the best race if you can do 500apm. Otherwise toss is just a lot easier to play. I think Serral agrees. He knows zerg is strong but sometimes he just needs to take a break and play toss haha. That was definitely game of the year.
Showtime really threw the end of this game by separating his units. He reaally needed to keep them together to wipe out the infestors when they popped up.
Come on WinterStarcraft, you are too hard here on Lowko and show too little confidence in your own judgement of this game. Come on, this is DEFINETLY THE GAME OF THE YEAR!
Perhaps, as we have asked for interceptors to cost energy instead of minerals ad nauseum to no effect, the answer should be make a unit from the other races cost minerals instead of energy. Perhaps Lurkers should cost five minerals every time they burrow, or broodlings should cost 5 minerals each every time they are grown. Perhaps EMP kills the ghost who fired it, forcing a ghost to be rebuilt. People hate carriers, but what historically and in the lore was supposed to be a race's pride and joy has instead been reduced to a cancer.
Good game. But I think a great game would be an upset and in the context of a championship with the underdog taking it out. 🤔 I think serral winning is not surprising enough to be considered game of the year.
@@Iseenoobpeoples @Iseenoobpeoples lol, you seriously went thru thre different conversations to find me and respond with the same comments!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 sad
No. Infestors not the problem. Queens are. Endgame with little no no gas serral just built like 15 queens. T3 toss V T1 zerg and the queen is still the better investment.
Nope, not best of the year. Good at first, but when the game comes down to carriers using all the minerals, and forcing Showtime out with a wimper and long drawn out gasp, it is not a good game. From the moment Serral made infestors, it was just watching Showtime die at the rate of old age.
Fast forwarded to the end because I made a prediction. If it’s the “game of the year” from Lowko and it features Serral or any high level Zerg player…. Zerg is the winner. I’ve actually stopped watching his channel because of his bias.
Shit...im getting seriously bored of watching any protoss games. How does the game start: well they have queens so I can't do much of anything. How does the game end: well we've got no gas and queens are the best mineral unit ever. Freakin dull. It should be pretty clear from the fact that serral was able to cut drones and income for like 7 minutes before showtime, and still hold even. Put a mineral cost on broodlings and see what happens. Always seems like protoss needs to pull a magic trick or cheese something by in order to get ahead enough to actually win. Whereas zerg and Terran armies always feel like they can kill your army and your base in the 1 go.
And here is the protoss player that is salty.... and dont even call me a Zerg lover. i am a ranodm player that is Master 3 in Zerg and protoss and Master 2 in Terrian. Serral is the best player in the world.... Any player in his shoes would be dead. And the problem is that Protos always goes for Airtoss. Whice is impossible to defend for any Zerg that is not top tier.
@@helenagustafsson3653 "Whice is impossible to defend for any Zerg that is not top tier." - lol...you mean the T3 uber units are hard to defend against but the answer is a T1 zerg mineral only unit with big hp and heal smdh... Put it this way...10 interceptors killed = 1 queen in minerals. That's why serral can just sit back and do nothing while letting showtime send out the interceptors. Winter is correct when he says carrier are a rich mans unit. You have about 7 mintues of this game between about 8-15min, that there are enough minerals remaining for mass carrier to actually work at all. Afterwhich it starves you of minerals. Which is what caught showtime in this one. There is a hard deadline for when they can be used. And the reason you are forced into air toss is because the ground units suck + interceptors eat up the minerals you could use for zealots. Most toss ground is Too gas heavy, Too slow, Only useful on specific armor types, etc. Add to that the need to build 3 buildings (pylon, gateway, cybercore) b4 you can get even a decent unit out. Therefore, the only way out is either a cheese or turtle to Airtoss. Same reason sheild battery is the defensive answer to everything, minerals only free HP. it's like a worse version of a queen. The only toss player i want to see is reynor, because he has the APM to just maybe, make use of the 7.8 k cooldown and energy abilities to toss has. Way to much micro for not enough return.

Winter wearing a Frost Giant shirt. That works thematically.
