I take 15 min a day on it because it seems to help with relaxation down etc. x4 then P, P I M A in quick succession on a single string x4. I was letting my wrist fly as well but stopped since finding this channel. It's so so much more enjoyable to practice now

The micro-strumming and crescendo-strumming in Albeniz's Cordoba is some of the most rewarding and beautiful guitar music I play. And don't get me started on the beauty and endless time I've 'lost' experimenting with flesh/nail proportion in straight thumbstrokes! Turina anyone? And, finally, what would become of The Concierto de Aranjuez without letting those fingers rip?!!!
BTW, often non-suscribed but a great fan of your channel, Allen. I've been greatly helped by many of your astute & thought-provoking videos and owe you a debt of gratitude! Thank you.

Hello Guitar Shed, I've watched on and off over the years. "GOOD SHOW"! "Van" here, a Guitar Jack of all trades, master of none. I hear "Jesu" at the end...that reminds me to put that on my list of tunes I'll play today w/ my Cordoba Mini Classical Guitar and Boss Katana Mini Amp (strapped to my belt) as I walk around the North End (Italian) of Boston, "The St Anthony's Feast". Today's list includes my Frederick Noad Medley (1st 9 tunes from his book), Jason Waldron's "Ave Maria", Pachelbel Canon, mix in "Heart and Soul", "Dust in the Wind" "If I only had a Brain", and "Theme from the Godfather" (shame Italians under 30 years don't know it). That's for starters--lol. Thanks again for the "Jesu" reminder and your Wonderful channel.
    5 STARS!

I have a feeling I'm gonna love this channel. I'm not highly dedicated to the classical guitar, and a lot of the content on here seems perfectly suited to an amateur like me.

I primarily played classical guitar for 20 years and rarely strummed, except for some random flamenco music that required I learn that style. I’d like to add that the wider necks on classical guitar make it harder to learn strumming since the classical guitar is specialized towards playing finger style. Getting. Dreadnought really helped with the narrower neck and stiffer steel strings. It was a completely different approach to playing the guitar for me.

I could never take anyone seriously who said something like "real guitarists don't strum." It may not be common in Classical land, but for the millions of other guitarists out there across numerous genres, it's a vital, foundational part of playing. It seems wilfully perverse to the point of being ridiculous to denigrate or ignore one of the key playing techniques if you're going to pick up the instrument, in whatever context.
I'd also take exception to anyone casually slapping the "serious" label on certain music and not others. That usually says more about the myopic arrogance of the speaker than the music.

I would honestly laugh in someones face if they ever say something as silly as "classical guitarists don't strum" lol

I don't strum because I don't want to scratch my guitar.

If you don't use a pick, you likely won't scratch your guitar. I finger strum exclusively and haven't scratched anything.

A guitar is meant to be played! It’s not a painting- why treat it as such? Also, wear not a guitar is a sign of love and effort you’ve put into it, IMO.
