- Let's finish this guitar and get it playable.
In this episode I'm putting the final touches to the Celtic Sonea guitar and get to play her for the first time.
Disclaimer
I'm by now stretch of the imagination a good guitar player.
I only play for a bit once a guitar is done to test it.
Please forgive me my attempt of playing this guitar in this video.

#Guitar Build
I really like your work. You have great designs, good materials, and a clearly defined direction for each build. One thing I would like to see you get into is high end finishing. If some of your models were done in paint, it would be very nice. Black gloss, etc. I know you aren’t a big fan of gloss finishes, and you’re in a small shop. But, you could make a small pop up booth to use for spray finishing. Nothing wrong with wax/oil. But, it would be a new skill, and very useful to help open a market to other potential clients who want professional factory quality finishes. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!
Great to see the final video, that means I can binge-watch the whole build!
Daniel. Your guitars are always fantastic, but the detail in this build is truly next level. Fabulous
Daniel. I have to tell you, you do great work and appreciate great craftsmanship.
......Here in the south east of USA
Damn, Daniel. You’ve outdone yourself. That is a masterpiece.
Hi Mr. Waffles,
Thanx man.
What a beautiful instrument, the inlays really pop after that final treatment of the wood. So I think we're all sad now the Sonea journey is at an end, but excited to see what your imagination comes up with next.
And while I'm commenting - have you considered using Dunlop Flush-mounted Strap Locks? They work very well and don't have the traditional strap button sticking out. With your design where an owner can play it in the classical guitar position I think not having the bottom strap lock protruding could be a bonus.
The little tune at you played reminds of the folk stuff I grew up with. I tend to lean more to rock but there's always a little bit of folk in my soul lol
Guitar looks gorgeous too
A good series and I enjoyed seeing the guitar come to life. I look forward to the next
A perfect job, congratulations 👍😁
Could you do a new series of video lessons where you explain something new every time ?. For example, explain how to replace and retify the frets, how to adjust the action, the octaves, how to install the strings, how to file the nut, explain the various measures-distances you use during the construction of the guitar (truss rod, neck, tuning fork, body, etc.). Or talk about the choice of woods and the various accessories you use in your guitars. I would like to hear your opinion on neck thru body guitars. With your experience and skill I am sure you will be able to enrich our knowledge. (sorry english, I use a translator)
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talent. I have really enjoyed your channel and learned a bit also which is a plus. What makes your channel rise to the top is how you come across as a genuine nice person. All the best to you and family, Ted in Sebastian, Florida
Hi Ted,
Thank you very much for the kind words.
Love all the inlays and your attention to detail. Great work! 👍
Wow! Your beautiful creation turned out so incredible! Amazing sustain and tone! Thank you so much for taking all the extra time and work to share your art and creative process with all us fortunate viewers!! I'm always so impressed with how much heart and talent you pour into everything ❤️ Keep up the great work my friend ❤️
Stunning Daniel, I've loved every video you've posted brother. You are truly an artist my friend. Peace ✌️
Beautiful build. Incredible!
What a masterpiece!
If you bring it to a trade show you need to have a loop of the build (at least the inlays) running on a TV from a usb stick. Can't hurt to promote the channel in the real world too. Great job on this axe!
Just love your work!! Your wire inlay is so bad ass! Painted guitars just pale in comparison to the wood you choose. Great guitar.
Hi Sean,
Thank you very much for the compliment.
Awesome job great looking and sounding guitar definitely out of the park my man love it
What a great journey this guitar has had! Well done and keep these videos coming Daniel.
Beautiful guitar. One of my favorites you've built.
Great looking and sounding Guitar. Beautiful work my friend.

Echt grossartiges Instrument hast Du gebaut. Respekt👍👍👍
Beautiful outcome!
Beautiful instrument.
Thank you for a very inspiring video, Daniel 🙏🙏 really give me a lot insight & learning points 👍👍👍🙏🙏
Another beautiful instrument, Daniel! It's been a great series, very informative as usual. :)
Great series, I enjoyed every video thank you. I'm excited to see what the next build may be.
This guitar is beautiful !! Congrats !
Looks beautiful.
Masterful work! Looks and sounds fantastic
Looks and sounds fantastic!!
Stunning!
Superb work as usual.
Beautiful instrument!
Great work as usual man!
Stunning guitar... no further comment!!
Amazing
It would be nice if a customer wanted a 12 string electric. That would be a cool build. Gotoh makes a bridge where every string can be intonated. If doing six strings was not enough work. Lol. Next thing you know someone will want you to make a double neck. A twelve and a six string. That would be a lot of work.
Eccezionale 👏👍
Another great guitar is born - what a joy to watch!
What's the camera mic you're using?
amazing work man, love it! what's next? Handtool only
build??
Hi Farcewipe,
Thanks.
Ehm.... hand tools only??
I think I like the precision of my routers to much to attempt a hand tools only build... so unless a router is considered a hand tool...
@@UnquendorGuitars Your precision is what sets your builds apart, cant wait for the next one!
This was the first time I have ever seen the sperzel drill jig. What a time saver! Where did you get it?
I am a great fan of your work. Stunning. But, on this occasion I feel the inlay is a little bit too much. Sorry. IMO I would have liked to see it down the centre of the fretboard only and not each side. I would still buy it and it would be an honour to own and play. Well done.
I love your style on making guitars, this building was amazing!
what do you think about making a guitar with metal tree of life inlays on the fretboard likes you do with your logo?
👍👍
Absolutely fabulous looking, playing and sounding instrument Daniel.
Just for interest what price would you sell that for?
It looks and sounds great. Does it have a smaller body than normal? It looked quite small when you were playing it.
Hi Andrew,
This guitar has the regular Sonea body shape and size which is indeed a little smaller than most guitars.
It's just 320mm wide and 380mm tall
Daniel great build. What are your views on multi scale building also zero frets.
Hi Edad,
Both are not really my cup of tea at he moment.
Multi scale has its' uses I guess but is not something I personally like.
A zero fret, in my opinion, can make setting the required action for a particular player a challenge. Especially when building a guitar that goes up for sale with no particular client in mind. Depending on the style and player but how often do you play open strings and can you really hear the difference?
Dear Daniel, did you ground the bridge? Haven’t noticed that nuance in the video. And what oil did you use on the fretboard?
Hi Arobatic1977,
For safety reasons I don't ground the bridges on my guitars.
Explaining this is too hard to do in a comment reply. I tried to make a video about this but it became way too technical unfortunately. The short version is: I don't want to connect anything that is meant to be touched to an electrical circuit what otherwise, under no circumstance, could get electrified and potentially harm the player in case of a fault upstream (e.g. the amp).
I use the Crimson Guitars Fretboard Restorative Oil on my fretboards.
name of the jig from the demo?
The last part of the demo?
It's a lead section from "Rebel Faery Fling by The Dolmen"
The rest of the demo I made up on the spot.
@@UnquendorGuitars That's it thank you! Great build by the way. I really enjoyed the series.
