#Tamerlane or Amir Timur was the Tartar ruler of Mawarannahr or Transoxiana in Central Asia or the modern day Uzbekistan. Samarkand was his seat of power from where he ruled from Moscow to Delhi and from Ankara to Baghdad, Aleppo and Damascus.
Timur sent forces to the Golden Horde. He also laid hands upon India including Modern day Pakistan. Panipat, Multan and Delhi were emptied of their populations. Indian public opinion still doesn’t accept him. When the Bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor named their son Taimur Ali Khan Pataudi, the public feedback on social media especially on twitter was not so favourable.
