Tony Jaa was like the 2nd coming of Bruce Lee + Jackie Chan! When I first saw Ong Bak, I was so amazed! As a Muay Thai practitioner, I was so excited for Tony Jaa's future films. I thought Tony Jaa was poised for Super Stardom, but it never came. He just got a small role in a Fast and Furious movie and it never went past that. Maybe because he didn't speak English well? That was my thought. Anyway, I love that Jesus Christ Cross necklace! Keep up the great work!

I tried watching the second ongbak and i did not even finish it after the first 15 minutes thats how Cheap it came across. I never watched another tony jaa movie after that .... I was very disappointed.

I remember when ong bak came out. I had a lot of friends from the Philippines, and one of them showed it to me. It was awesome. Then I saw the protector. That is one of my all time favorite martial arts films. I wish he had gotten more well known and had more leading roles instead of just as side characters.

I said this on the Viking Samurai RUclips channel over a month ago that I believed that Tony Jaa making Ong Bak 2 and 3 a period movie from the Mongolian era instead of keeping them in modern day like Ong Bak 1 and The Protector, then he wouldn't of fell off like he did. I think a lot of people didn't care for the Period movie and should of kept it modern day.

There have been a lot of factors that led to Tony Jaa downfall...one of the main reasons ..he had a bad conflict with Sahamongkol film company which signed him for a ten years contract since Ong Bak which didn't allow him to film any foreigner movies and wasting a lot opportunities like Die Hard 4 , Rush hour 3 and more, then had a lot of problems with that company which which made the shooting of Ong Bak 2 stopping for a while ..in 2013 his contract was over by that time he made his final film for Saha which is The protector 2..the movie was a total disaster..Sahamongkol law suied Tony before the court made a final judgment which made Tony Jaa free and leave.
Another reason of the downfall was the death of Jaa mentor Mr Panna Rittikrai who died in 2014...Panna had an important contribution in Jaa career besides Jeeja and Dan Chupong..he was the one who made Jaa a star ..he had a great vision in action design and fight choreo and how to make decent action..his death was not a downfall for Tony Jaa only but the whole thai action film industry.

They still make international great movies and its not like back in the day everyone comes to HW. I have spoken with a few martial artists about tony and what they thought of the movies and style and even a few actors and then why he's not around what happened. One actor in particular that comes to mind maybe because he was the most recent I had the conversation about tony.. was (and a few people said this too) but it was because Tony didn't speak English well. And this particular actor not an A lister but he's kinda known, I laughed and was thinking that's a stupid response. I said if that was the case they could have dubbed his voice or to not could have recorded the dialogue later. But then from a few sources I heard tony killed his own chances at becoming an action star because he wanted more money, he wanted to direct and be producer all in one and run how the movie will be made. I also heard that he had a fall out with one of his friends/ movie partners/creator . ..this while contracting a movie with a north American studio and one from some Asian country. But overall I think he could have been up there with the better martial arts actors especially showing off a discipline not really scene much in movies which is a shame.

the short ver. I believe why he didn't become a "International" star is because:
1- was not fluent in English
2- probably didn't fit the visual (lets be honest, those that have made it internationally are good-looking guys. Not that Tony is ugly. But.. you know what i mean).
3- outside from amazing skills, he had no charisma as say (van damme, jackie, arnold, stallone, Segal etc). You gotta have something other than talent for people to connect with you. That's where lot of these upcoming action stars fall short.

If Jaa had been around from the mid 80s to the late 90s he would have been a star, he was just too late to the scene, tastes in movie genre changed. It didn't help that his English wasn't the best, that said it didn't hurt Jackie Chan much, be he already had a huge domestic market anyway

The hip hop music and rap star cameos in Martial arts films ruins the movie, Miramax did that with Jackie Chan's movies changing the original soundtrack with Everybody was Kung Fu fighting hip hop track. Sounds like Tony wanted to keep his movies as Thai as possible and Bey was chasing the Golden Goose and Jaa was running away from him, Skin Trade is so over the top violent and it was sad watching 50 and 60 year olds trying to act and move like 30 year olds.

He also isn't open minded and is happy to tell you how wrong you are instead of researching and considering it. Things change all the time. I brought up the Baker letters and he more or less told me he didn't believe they were real!? I have seen them with my own eyes and they are not forgeries and are in Bruce's and on occasion, Linda's, Handwriting. I wasn't there to destroy his world, I was trying to bring shed some light on what he was missing. In the end I had to unsub, set him to DO NOT RECOMMEND and move on. It was disappointing. Sorry Bey Logan, you are completely wrong yet again, just like you were about Jason Scott Lee. If you were right and had a talent for spotting stars your useless Crouching tiger Hidden Dragon 2 wouldn't have been an epic flop. You obviously have a fetish or fixation for Kung Fu actors but am sorry the majority of the audience don't. Tony Jaa had a daft name, wasn't good looking enough, didn't have the charisma etc etc etc. Honestly, I think Bey Logan thinks anyone he gets involved with in the industry could or should be a star. There was no room for this guy. No range about him. Nothing about him that brought anything new or dynamic to the table. The girls didn't fancy him and the men didn't want to be him. Very simple. Honestly, why are so many people in the film industry so deluded they think they are better than they are. It's only a very very few who go on to become mega stars. Hollywood had a talent for picking correctly. They were spot on with: Schwrazenegger, Stallone, Seagal, JCVD, Charles Bronson, Chuck Noriss. If the actor is good enough, let alone all the other factors which have to line, he will get there, eventually. Come on Bey Logan, spend more time analysing why your films bomb and you make a load of trash.
