  • This video demonstrates how to calculate the probability for a specified independent variable value in binary logistic regression using SPSS and Excel. The output of logistic regression is expressed as log odds and must be converted into odds then to probability.

Great video! How can you calculate probabilities using excel as you showed, but in a case with several independent variables assessed? (sex, age, etc)

This was the perfect video for my project. I m a neonatologist working on different prediction models. SPSS gave me the values .. but i was not able to convert them into prediction model.
This video helped me very much. Thank you.

It was helpful that the video provided an example of when this analysis could be used.

I watched your logistic regression video in SPSS and used Excel to determine the probability of an IV from the variables in the equation output. When i enter one IV the prob was 28.9% to be in one of the 2 groups. When I add a second IV to the model, that was also significant when used alone, the first IV's probability increased from 28.9% to 52.8%. This is a very sig increase when the B was initially was 0.062 then 0.051 after adding the second IV, the constant changed a lot from -3.398 to -1.933. I suspect was the main reason for increase in the first IV's probability. Which probability is appropriate to use in my paper. Thank you

How can we calculate the predicted probability of reference levels?
