I immediately noticed that! At first I thought "makes sense, since killers tend to play alone; so "teamwork" is foreign to them" but I realised that the 2 killers are devs and not content creators like the survivors; so they don't necessarily have entertainment/chatter skillz.

The original Raccoon city map could be perfect for this mode. The whole thing was like 2 maps long.
I would genuinely love a full city map in DBD. The closest we have right now is a street intersection.
Would be really cool. But bodyblocking could be a huge issue with all the hallways. Should be easily resolved though by letting players lose collision after a few seconds of being bodyblocked
Notice how you got to hear how much fun the survivors were having playing 2 vs 8 but you didn’t get to hear the killers getting pissed as the gens were flying. 😂
Remember, more survivors also means more mistakes, especially in solo Q. An 8-person swf might be brutal, but it should still be fun for killers. I play both sides and I can see why it might be easier for survivors, but as long as you're not a simple "win at all cost" killer, it should still be a very fun mode for killers. I just wish they had Doctor for the initial mode, that's my only source of sadness for this announcement.
I agree, the 1st match especially was brutally survivor sided. They only got 2k because they stayed in end game to mess around

Exactly this! The doomsday gang will be out in force saying this is the end of DBD if it's not perfect in every way, but the rest of us need to make ourselves heard for positive development of the mode rather than screaming for its removal. I'm so looking forward to this mode and hopefully they add all killers when it's permanent so I can try this mode out as Doctor!
Three hook states for each survivor got carried over, but not 5 gens for killer. Chainsaw doesn't instadown, Nurse gets extra blinks, since he needs a nerf and Nurse needs a buff n' all. Did I hear they get three exit gates and two hatches correctly? This was an extremely chill group of survivors and they still flew through gens, it's gonna be a bloodbath when actual swf mains get their hands on this.

@@ashcosmo3854 Much like the game itself, I'd *like* to play it. Just wish the devs would get out of it's way. It's a shame to see such potential wasted, like a great book with a phoned-in movie adaptation. Also, yet again the survivors, the one's supposedly afraid of failure, are having a ball in a group chat party line while the big bad killers are stuck in silence and constantly held at task.

I think it should be 12 gens honestly since 6-7 survivors can be working on gens as opposed to 3 survivors. Also when one survivor is killed, it is not a huge deal, but in 4 players, it's a big shift. So, more generators will be needed than before, not less.

I feel the same. That first game was a massacre. Only reason they got 2 is because they chose to stay and find hatches. Otherwise, it would have been a shutout.

@shoto4112 I feel the same just on the opposite side. Game 2 I feel like the fog whisperers were intentionally playing bad. Which doesn't lend to a realistic look at how it will be. I will say the right huntress and nurse combo will tear people apart.

New mode: 8 survivors and the 2 killers have no gen regression perks. If you don't know how it's going to end you are working at BHV. 😅
The fun thing about the 2v8 is that we have no perks though. I am so tired of seeing the same perks over and over again, this offers us a clean slate and takes everything back to basics. We'll have to see how it turns out, but they could certainly add a mechanic to help slow down gen speeds. Not perks though. It's so much better this way.
@@asterix1912survivors basically have perks tho. They aura reading, faster sprint and healing etc. Killers just got 4-5 add ons.

I’m seeing a lot of scenario’s where the killers team up on one survivor at a time to prevent looping. This can be effective and fast. But you’re right.. multiple gen’s can be easily done in that little time.
You underestimate how easy it’ll be to catch survivors with two killers and no hooks.

What is a bully squad in the game mode
@@red_swan_ They are a squad that doesnt care about doing Gens or completing objectives. They synergize thier perks (or classes) to try to bully the killer and make them quit. There are no perks apparently, but they'll find a way, lol.

I think the class you get should be random so you have 2 of each in the match, most people are gonna pick escapist and scout

2v8 seems like a survivor theme park/playground for them to have fun and the killers are just there to facilate that fun because they have to run from something, as a killer main I'm not interested in participating just for others enjoyment.

Edit: maybe the killers weren't trying just to show it off, but it still feels off. As an aspiring killer player it seems that way.

No killers are going to play this. This will just be a complete bully session. 2 killers vs 8 survivors and they only have to do 8 gens with no slow down. Nerfing Billy too. After seeing what the devs look like I now understand why the game is in the current state it’s in.

They really made us watch 20 minutes of them screaming and shouting during the 2v8. That was painful to listen to. 5 mins would have been more than enough

@@teched2.055I think 10 gens would be too much that’s 900 secs worth of gen repair. That would mean 15 min to repair all gens. +1 gens as compared to total # of survivors makes sense. Also didn’t take into account the time saved for killers as they don’t have to walk to any hooks, chases will be shorter with 2 killers, so actually makes sense

That’s 360 secs extra vs the current 180 secs. Now i see why they did 8 gens because 6 survivors repairing equates to 180 secs for 8 gens which matches the current ratio

I am super happy that this is coming around but I’ve got a few problems that gotta be expressed. A) why only 8 gens?? Like 9 sure but 8 just don’t sit right. B) no billy insta down 💀💀💀 C) no regression perks?! Let alone killer perks that are useful? I get you’re trying to avoid comp and all but this is just 100% gonna be survivor favoured asf, heck I bet slugging is gonna be the best strat possible here.
I’ll definitely be playing this a TON just not on killer side very much.

Should be classes AND perks on top of it. And only solo play, no premade 8-player bully squads.
Perks do not work in this mode, as a lot of them would break with there being 8 survivors and 2 killers. It would be a coding hellscape. So at least for now classes is a much more reasonalbe way to have this mode

This 2v8 gamemode is destined to be survivor sided as hell, instead of 10 gens they're letting survivors only repair 8. This makes no sense, there's no compensation on the killer-side for that. The gameplay clearly showed what most killer players already feared. The queue times for this mode are going to be horrendous if you think you'll find any killer player sane enough to put up with this.

@@Trizonese have you not noticed jow insanely fast those gens are popping or did that just not click to you. In one scene you can see how fast they are repairing the gens and that's is faster than even the new gen rushing builds

Ngl. Lara’s perks seem a little too nasty. Killers already have a hard enough time with SWF squads in the upper tiers. Killers are already limited in their ability to regress gens, why make a perk that makes it so that a gen can’t regress beyond a certain point even if a killer kicks it and no one goes back to it? And before all the “git gud” comments, I’m a good player. I win most of my trials and am a pretty damn good huntress. But I find myself sweating my ass off against flashlight and gen rush bully squads almost every game. It’s already hard to get pressure on most maps, but giving a generator a regress cap along with limits on kicking gens is powering down killers further. Just how I see it, super open to discourse!

No custom games just killed the hype for me. its supposed to be like a party fun mode so why not be able to invite all your friends? Me and a group of friends were planning on returning but ig we will just wait until its released in customs. Definitely don't want to try public matchmaking.

Man that hurts. Genuinely. How is this expected to be possible as killer?
Looks fun but also maybe kind of lopsided towards the survivors. Killers have literally no slowdown ability at all and a wider map to cover. Yeah, they can double team a survivor for a quicker down, and don’t have to hook survivors which helps shave off time, but on the flip side if they double team then they’re leaving all seven other survivors doing gens which seems like a bad idea. If they split up, say each covering half the map, it’s probably more time efficient for them but they lose those team related abilities.
That’s just my gut first impression watching it though so I could definitely be wrong. 🤷♂️
I 100% agree with this, you leave the rest of the map too vulnerable for the rest of the survivors by teaming up on one survivor, and lose those perks by separating. Without gen regress perks map pressure will be extremely important.

To everyone wonderinf why the number of gens is what it is:
They (theoretically) playtested it and found that it was the best number. Even though it's twice the players, it doesn't mean that everything should double. Hooks are going to be faster, and with more survivors killers are probably going to have a lot less downtime.
This being said, there is a very real chance it will be extremely one-sided on launch lol
Also, more survivors = more mistakes. People forget that.

@@Prazca The people throwing out whataboutism arguments as counterpoints to make their side seem weaker want it to be easier on them, they don't want it to be fun. There definitely need to be more gens and some of the survivor kits are dumb af but there are also some killer combos that encourage play styles that are going to make being chased insanely unfun. It doesn't have to be Us Vs. Them like it always is with this community, tweaks are needed on both ends.

All the survivors are all like yeah screaming and I like this and all that and then there are the killers that are like hyper focused trying to get downs and they even look so frustrated like they are not enjoying the game at all 😅
The mode looks fun but clearly needs more balancing like having 10 gens would be more fair for example because if the mode is planed for the future to be permanent some of the killers may start doing strategies that many people don’t like for example slugging , camping and all that .
But really hope not many don’t take it too seriously and have fun in the mode so we can really have it permanent.
I doubt people will have enough fun on Killer side to make it permanent.
I can see it now, survivors getting mad about teaming and killers getting mad at their teammate for stealing their kill 😄

Killers need perks if only 8 gens. Especially due to how limited we are on killers.
Adding more gens might not be possible based on the map size and there being 2 killers to contest the last generator. But some kind of slowdown seems very necessary as it's just a race against the clock now with no push or pull
As a survivor main, it is way to survives sided. Without any gen regression perks, gen rushing is going to be insane

2v8 mode, survivors should only get 1 hook instead of the standard 2. Would fix this mode easily.

While I like what they were going for with the perk system, I think it would've just been better to give every player 1 perk, Survivors get to bring in a brown/yellow item, and Killers get 1 addon each.

I know lot of people really got enthusiastic, so as I when I heard about 2v8. But 2 things that really disappointed me is the fact that theres no PERKS (imagine the possibilities to combine perks between 2 killers) and there is only standard killers to play. 9 gens would be better too. And I know people will say "so just play normal game". Yea, I will, im just saying that is sad to see something that could be incredible turning in a "no salt mode" in my opinion. Sorry if you dont agree with me, im just venting here.

This is a two week long test, to get player feedback and make changes for future versions. Is it unbalanced? Yes. That's why they're getting this to us so early and for such a short period, this is essentially a two week long beta test. They stated they want to add more to it, they stated they want to add custom games, they stated that once they have the direction down they'll think about making it permanent.
Give them legitimate criticism because that's what they want and what they need, but stop kicking your feet and throwing a tantrum like a toddler because the TWO WEEK LONG BETA isn't perfect.

Still seems way too easy for survivors. Now that they took away addons and gen regression, there seems to be little that stops the survivors from escaping. The survivors, in turn, get massive buffs and cool classes. Killer team based powers need a LOT of help. I wanted to like this mode. I wanted it for years. Playing killer with a friend seemed really fun and I liked the idea of more of a challenge when playing survivor. Why does it seem easier instead? 2 killers should feel hard. The goal to complete 8 gens is too low for this many survivors. Should be 13 for balance. I know it's a first release and still a work in progress, but I really hope they work on this a bit more. It shouldn't feel survivor-sided. That's not fun. For survivor or killer.

Finally we reached the point where you implement this long awaited mode.
1) add more gens to do, it should be at least 10.
2) more new killers asap, everyone will be bored very fast if only 5 will be there, and two of them are super boring and billy is nerfed with meme addon.
3) make some basekit regression after caging surivor. Even 10 gens is not enough to fight genrush since all other processes for survs are the same or even faster. They healing faster, one person for unhooks, etc while other slamming gens. Make that for unhooking you need two survivors.
And btw, very annoying that you brought there some abominations instead of beloved and renown streamers. Like imagine these two creatures, and not Otz or JRM invited, after all what they made for this game. I bet Otz is enraged
