The darkness that came to smother this beacon will be eradicated one day. Prof Sunaina Singh’s eloquent expounding of the University’s “vision and mission” shows how much the tide has turned. With her focus, efficiency, and commitment, she can power the University into a world-class institution in its area of activities. Congratulations to her and her staff. An important question for both India and the entire Buddhist world is ' What can we learn from the destruction of Nalanda University at the hands of foreign invaders? '
The answers lies in establishing Buddhist Defense Leagues. Had a Kshatriya manned Buddhist Defence Corps been guarding the Nalanda University it's destruction at the hands of 200 or so foreign invaders could have been easily averted. If you are unable to defend your land and Heritage you forfeit the right to claim them as your own. Warriors i.e., Kshatriya community, are at times necessary to protect yourself, your family and property. If the Buddhist world fails to learn this lesson from the tragedy of what happened to Nalanda University, history might get repeated to the detriment of the current generation of Buddhists. The danger of being overrun again still lurks.
