as a non Yu-Gi-Oh player let me get this straight; 00:01 the card is called Raigeki (雷撃) in the English version, and サンダーボルト(Thunderbolt) in the Japanese version.

English ygo likes to use jp name (raigeki) when jp ygo use English name (thunderbolt). It's a thing localization likes to do especially on old cards like hitotsume giant (meaning one eyed giant) in english ygo and cyclops in jp ygo
The Gishki Archetype in English is called the "Ritua" Archetype in JP.
Gishki, being JP for Ritual, and Ritua being EN for Ritual.

I mean Dragoon is still technically a good card, just summoning it is too much work and "just sit on a guy" isn't enough on its own. The last deck that had any success with that was purrely, and they refilled their entire hand after comboing and just straight up plus if you don't out their s/t first.
the issue with dragoon isn't the card itself, it's still cracked, it's just summoning it requires you to run 2 literal vanillas in your deck and red eyes fusion completely locks you from summoning before or after using it unless you cheated out its effects with verte, all these flaws combined to create a boss monster that just isn't worth running
@@BigBuckies There are decks that can make it without running any "real" bricks (most notably, but not uniquely, Branded) and in TCG we wouldn't use REF for it since Verte's banned (and DPE turned out to be the better generic Verte target anyway even if it wasn't). Without Verte you can just summon DPE with a substituter + any effect dragon, which is an extremely easy requirement. It's just turns out that's not good enough either, yes you get an omni which you'd normally not get in e.g. Branded, but at the cost of cutting yourself off other interactions and limiting your follow up.
I hope they bring verde anaconda back to 1 so dragoon becomes a good card
In the OCG this this just got released and boy the players started cooking, Dragoon price spiked and "Duality" price spiked 70 fold, mainly still in branded but centurion too

The recent tcg card shop game craze got me itching to play the Tag Force games again. Then I remembered the CPU on the PSP took 5 centuries to finish their turn on the later entries and it was unplayable. Then I remembered emulators are a thing now.
tag force was one of the best games Ive played on the PSP, good times
After getting used to Master Duel and the 5 business day turns from other players I'm pretty sure the Tag Force turns would feel like they went by in a flash
Master Duel honestly isn't bad if you just want to play solo mode. The CPUs decks are underpowered enough for you to play basically any semi-competent deck you want, including ones from older formats, and they play decently fast.

Dragoon IS an amazing boss monster with three great effect.
But well, to be able to fully use his effect, you got to play garnets. And with Verte banned, you cant just cheat Red Eyes Fusion, thus you further need to play Red eyes support cards.
Funnily enough, to get the full eff you need to play with garnet, but if you just want untargetable omni, there are plenty of ways to cheat it out, but it goes back again, unless your deck is just clusterfuck wombo combo, you better

Dragoon coming back to OCG might hint on a new structure deck for DMG like the recent release of the Blue Eyes structure deck.
If that happens, I am sure Suburu would be happy to hear the news.
It does not hint at that. We were getting a DM Structure for the same reason we got a Blue Eyes one. Dragoon could stay band and that would still happen.
What Dragoon being unbanned suggests is the type of cards and support they are willing to print.
@@mrbubbles6468 TCG getting Dragoon in Rarity Collection 2 in like 6 different rarities along with the unbanning of it in OCG is a strong hint they are going to make DM structure deck. Also Magician souls and illusion of chaos being reprinted in RC2 is a massive tell from Konami about their intentions similarily with how much Blue Eyes got a bunch of reprints in that same set.
Konami had most of the Blue Eyes support reprinted in TCG prior to the structure deck being announced for in OCG. If I was betting on how they marketed Blue Eyes, DM is probably the next structure deck based on how they are planning out these products.
That would mean DM will get just as many new cards as Blue Eyes in the DM structure deck.
@voidlockdragon1406 and it will sucks, idc about DM because every support they get is never that good, unlike blue eyes, that not only make it more viable but also since it was dragon it also benefits from any dragon generic support.

Either make it specifically target the meta like the third blue eyes structure ( where spirit literally solos both B.A and pendulum and in between thanks to spirit)
Or
Scratch current gameplan they currently have and do drastic changes toward new play style due to new support like what happens altergeist and traptrick .
Or
Konami still wants to reserve the gameplay they have at least make the deck turbo unfair things that probably end up in a better deck.
And I personally prefer the first option just because how crazy the publicity yu GI oh will get just because DM winning world.

Dragoon is strong in a vacuum but practically its not worth running 2 garnets, a fusion spell and verte to make it more consistent thats 3 cards you might happen to see in your 5 card opening

@@CapsLock690 It did just happen with the most recent ban list. Not that it impacts much in the OCG because of the release of the new Mulcharmy cards that do virtually the same thing, which is still unlimited. So even with the semi limit, it's as if you can have 8 of them in a deck now.

There monsters that can act like spell cards and you use them to cheat out monsters from your hand that have a level between the left and right most spell/trap zone.
Also they go to the extra deck when they are destroyed like it's a backstage dressing room while the hand is the main stage entrance. But don't go to the extra deck if use as material unless otherwise stated as the effect of the card.
Because they wanted to make the most broken cards.

REDD is Limited in the OCG, Unlimited in the TCG, and Forbidden in MD. That card was OP long ago, but then we got new cards coming out with even more absurd skills.
The recently-announced St. Azamina is REDD in 6 kinds of steroids.

I have to ask, how could you possibly make this stronger? It has the two best kinds of protection, can negate everything and destroy anything else.
Yeah, Dragoon isn't even that bad these days, which just makes the current meta game absolutely bonkers.
@@Currywurst-zo8oo Well, for example, you can give it more negation per turn, based on the number of Normal Monsters used in the fusion, and also allow it to be fused with more than just 2 monsters. You could also give it protection from changing control, removal, etc.
But you'll never be fully safe. Cards like Dark Ruler No More, Forbidden Droplet, Kaijus/Sphere Mode, Book of Eclipse, Storming Mirror Force, Floodgate Traphole, Jiou the Gravity Ninja, Book of Moon, Superpoly, and so on, can bring down Dragoon. You can either overwhelm the negation or bait it out, before you hit it with something that stop the protection effect, swing a bigger monster to kill it in battle, or just out it some way that can't be reacted against.
Right now, there's a few structure decks that can out Dragoon with ease...
I like Subaru's yugioh talks because it reveals that even the JP side has the same complaints with the modern version of the game, and the moment you're like "Damn I miss playing maybe I should pick it back up" you start looking at the new rulings and immediately stop yourself
If you don't enjoy modern Yugioh you should give the retro formats, like Goat and Edison, a go. But try it first, playing a very high-power TCG with play patterns not seen in many other games outside their respective, rarely played, eternal formats can be fun too.
I mean I personally enjoy it. But then again I play marvel 3 and modern ygo is basically tcg marvel 3

I do. And I really like Pendulums because they are close to how I like to play.
My suggestion for a beginner's introduction to Pendulum is to try out Qliphort. It mainly focuses on utilizing Pendulum monsters to keep field presence and as tribute fodder for their boss monsters.

MD banned Dragoon because MD has Verte. That's the only reason, as it is too easy to run and you will see it everywhere.

DPE is better than dragoon and is legal alongside verte but not played.
Celestial getting banned killed the engine which means none of it is good enough unless the materials do something.

surprisingly ocg banned that card for long time before change it to limited. Dragoon might be broken, but summon this card to the field is a bit harder than other strong boss monster like masterpiece. You can cheated by using anaconda, but anaconda was banned, and red-eyes fusion prevent you to do special summon after its resolve.

they did that for a couple of cards back then. You think it sounds silly, I thought it sounded legendary. Everything that was localized Japanese-like sounded so strong to me. Kairyu-Shin for example. Apparently in Japan, it was Leviathan.
Today, there are many Japanese people who speak English, my friend, so don't be surprised if you see a Japanese person out of nowhere and he or she starts speaking English to you.

Honestly it's fine if Verte Anaconda is banned, because if you have to run a brick ass Dark Magician in your deck and use the awful Red Eyes Fusion to bring it out than he's the only card you can summon for the turn. Which I feel like is totally fair to only end on a one negate (that you also have to discard for) Towers and nothing else. You can just link it off with Underworld Goddess lol
As a red eyes player, it upsets me that the one boost in power via a boss monster we got that we needed to really swing over big hitters while sticking to the red eyes theme caused so much of an uproar over how everyone was using it
Like, it wasn’t even dragoon that was the problem, it’s that every meta deck had some way to cheat him out and instead of dealing with the problem by dealing with the stuff that cheated him out (cause it cheated in so much worse), the OCG just said “nah, just ban dragoon”
The omni negates aren’t even the worst part when you have stuff like Baronne or Borreload who can be put into any deck, or most other boss monsters that are also omni negates AND can’t be destroyed by battle AND have a self-resurrection or some sort of GY engine to cheat them back in

Modern yugioh is...
First turn: At least 3 negate boss monsters and 1 handtrap on your hand, if your deck cant do that then your deck is bad.
Second turn: Your normal summon must be able to play through negates and hand traps while breaking their board, then you must summon enough monsters to inflict One Turn Kill on your turn. If your deck can't do that then your deck is bad.
Someone please Tell our beloved Shuba about the incoming Blue-Eyes Meta and that Dragon MAster Magia can surpass Dragoon

There won't be a Blue-Eyes meta as things stand, the deck is good enough to top tournaments but only good enough to appear in the "others" category, it's not winning large events. Check Road of the King's metagame report.

They’ve been releasing a lot of new “evolved” cards for prominent anime decks. Lots of super strong new Stardust Dragon related cards as an example.

Super poly it, droplet and beat it, TTT take control or simply negate the summon altogether. Top of my head those are the first generic ways that come to mind. Mind you I've been out this recent format because it got kinda boring but I'm pretty sure most decks run at least one of those options.

Doesn’t Dragoon have 2 negates if based on the number of normal monsters used in the fusion summon? It has been a long time since I have even considered Dragoon’s effect.
Dragoon destroy and inflict damage based on their attack, can be use up to 2 depends on the vanilla monster used for fusion
Omni negate is once per turn on quick effect

I mean she's a dm player that has a job and can't play or keep up with Yugioh all the time but she's a trooper, she was out there playing dm in Kash format, she learned how to play against kashtira through trial and error but she made it to diamonds 5 I think, so it's pretty commendable

Long time ago, I remember her nerding out to the other girls about Yugioh either during some of the first Minecraft collabs ever or while playing raft, then she did a sponsored stream I think, she played against pekora, then I know she played her DM Deck during the end of tear format and also the start Kash format, made it decently far for a casual player and against Kash
so just dont target or negate its summon or hit over it. its only 3k. oh but it can negate any one thing which maybe makes it difficult to hit over it.
it also gains attack when it negates and destroys. It is the definition of a boss monster. It was banned because people would combo into something make verte to cheat this thing out and he would almost solo the duel anyway.
Nah it's easier to beat than you thought, every current deck will eat dragon alive, or even worse use it as a mechanism to kill you back by ramming their monster toward dragoon the the dragoon player will take the damage.
I am feel sorry to Subaru but no one play Anime Deck except Exodia, Cyber Dragon and Hero Deck.

Nope, it's untargateable and immune to destroyed effect.... So mirrorjade (untargetting banish) or zeus (untargetting sent to GY), or a high attack beatstick can defeat it. It's not that amazing effect, still great though

@@frozenthrill9674 hmm, not really? A destruction and targeted effect immune monster who destroy up to two monsters and burn the opponent with SOPT omni negate that permanently increase its attack is quite oppresive IMO.
The reason it's flopped is because it's simply not worth it, especially with Verte banned.
"Cannot be destroyed by card effects" means it cannot be destroyed by either trap/spell/monster effects.
You can destroy it by battle. Or if you flip it face down, then destroy it using effects.
Other than that, other people already mentioned some of the alternative ways.
