The only reason I'm JUST!! finding out about this gold bullion gem is because Mama had to leave here in 2007. In a perfect world l can see me going over her house and hearing her say; "Baby, I want you to hear something absolutely incredible....you ready?!!?" Then she would start dancing. Mama had a knack for finding some of the best under the radar groups on the planet, these guys are just straight up Baad.

This is just amazing...Tony on the bongos and Dave with the high-hat and snare in the background, JJ rocking the guitar, Rob owning the keyboard, Tim killing the amazing bass and Art bringing in the soul with the sax at about the 2/3 mark, the breakdowns throughout...doesn't get much better than this. Been listening to this since it came out.
I saw these guys in Chicago last yeay and they killed it , can't wait to see them again.

This is easy listening with some jazz properties. Jazz is impromptu and this is repetitive. The bass lines are very common on this song. That is not to say this is good music and they are great musicians. I would call it great driving music . When you are listening but driving and talking not so attentive or critical.

I have had the pleasure of seeing you play with Ron and Dave back in the day at the Norms Place! You slayed that Jaco sound and had the most unusual slap style I have ever heard. I have heard you many other times as well. That's coming from another Bass player. When I saw this video of you playing with one of my favorite artist, I said wow! You nailed it like the albums! Did you have to learn those songs by ear or did Rob give you some sheet music on it! Never less sheet doesn't give you all that feel you had! I know Rob plays Keys,Bass and Guitar! Amazing song writer. I have all of his CD's! Dave sounded great as usual! That percussionist Tony is also great!

Hey Michael man we do way back then LOL. Thanks again for the kind words brother. Ron, Dave and I still do a little thing every once in awhile reminiscent of the Norm's Days. To answer your question about learning tunes for smooth jazz artists, they have everything in some type of dropbox (all done through email). It will normally contain both charts, studio mp3's, and the ones who are the most organized will have "live version" recordings as well if they differ from the studio version. Some artists (like Rob and Tony) write out the bass part note for note on the chart, others just give you a chord chart/lead sheet and you cop the bass line on the studio version yourself. It's still all about the homework you do in the shed. That's how it all works :)
Second that! Guy's a machine, like hitting every notes with constant power and precision -- least from what I've heard on this video. Hats off!
