    For air travel- two uses for small stuff sacks (or even a plastic bag will do).
    1. When going through TSA, I put all my pocket stuff (cell phone, keys, wallet, ear buds, etc.) into a bag so they are all together through the x-ray machine, then I can find them all as soon as I get through.
    2. Stuff sack with a caribiner to keep my essentials with me at the seat, my backpack can go overhead or under the seat in front but the sack has the things I might want to get to even when you're not supposed to have your bags out (battery pack, headphones, water bottle, small snacks...)

    My travel tip, not just the standard use packing cubes, but a variation. If you're going to be traveling to multiple destinations dont pack t-shirts in one cube, socks in another etc.
    Pack whole outfits for 2-3 days into a single cube depending on itinerary. E.g. 1 pair shorts, 2 t-shirts, 2 underwear, etc. You then dont need to unpack a whole suitcase just a cube at a time, plus when you've worn the outfit you can put the dirty stuff back into the cube.

    My travel hack: laundry detergent sheets (not dryer sheets…) have become hugely popular and affordable in the last fews years. Take a few full sheets with you and you’ll always have peace of mind knowing you can use an Airbnb’s/laundromat’s washing machine or can hand wash your stuff in a sink. The best part is the sheets can be easily torn into your desired size. They also weigh almost nothing and you don’t have to deal with messy liquid detergent ever again!

    Travel TIP: Keep a color copy of your U.S. passport ID page (name, photo, passport number, etc) in your luggage and in your wallet/purse. Large ziplocks can be super handy as well. great as emergency bags for snacks or leftovers, fill with hotel ice and water for a refreshing icepack for sore feet, and going home, put the stinky clothes inside to preserve whats left for the final leg of the journey in the rest of the bag.

    • @MrGreenAKAguci00

      It's not really my business. However I would like to urge you to minimize the use of toothpicks and switch to dental floss or some contraption that looks luke tiny slingshot with floss placed between two posts. Pick-off power cords (a through-plug plus a hanging plug) are just fantastic. They preserve a plug, are stackable, and allow wall warts where they would otherwise be physically unusable. An electroluminescent night light. Red is best, green is most common. Put one in the bathroom. Lastly, about 50 feet of 250 pound paracord. It's compact and you can use it for so many things. Not least of which is hanging your cloths to dry. At this point, unless forced to do otherwise, I'm a terminal one-bagger.

    If travelling internationally for work and you require a toolkit, make a spreadsheet of your gear and print it out. Whenever customs has stopped me, i get the sense that theyre looking for lies. Being a nerd with a spreadsheet eases much tension and speeds the process. Also, if your tool selection is refined, cut some foam. Trying to memorize a cluttered pelican is impossible, but an empty cutout lets you know immediately if you are missing something.

    another idea for Leftover Fabric from aprons and bags: Arm protection sleeves. I do a fair amount of 3D resin printing, and I have a tendency to brush my wrist (above my nitrile gloves) against "dirty" surfaces when working on the printer station. I like the look of the apron, and the luggage sounds sweet. I agree with you about always on electronics.
    About the apron color question- My first thought was that you would read something on your apron and give a color answer, but I was wrong. Then you said you thought the questioner would have a hard time matching the color, and launched off onto other possible solutions. I thought to myself, 'he doesn't know' and 'why doesn't he just say so?'. Of course, after you'd shared your suggestions, you did say so (good on you for that).
    Anyway, I checked your shop-site, and it said, "With the use of natural materials, some variance in color to these images is to be expected in both the canvas and the leather materials."

    I have intense dislike for Start-Stop buttons in most modern cars. Key-driven cars had Off, Acc, On and Start positions for a reason: many times you want to stop the car and just have accessories mode running so you can listen to the sound system, conduct a phone call, whatever. If Start-Stop cars even have an accessories mode they often do silly things turn it off after five minutes. Or you can't put the windows up or down unless the engine is running.

      Thanks, @@AndrewWorkshop, I know how to get to accessories mode. My point is that it used to be a very simple and useful feature that is now hobbled and artificially limited for no good reasons.
      In addition to the artificial time limits some vehicles prevent you going straight to accessories mode from running state: you have to fully stop a vehicle before pressing Start again without the brake pedal to get to accessories mode.

    I've heard the rolling tshirt hack forever but does it actually safe any space? If anything you're running the risk of inefficiently rolling it and introducing more volume in the gaps.
    A folded tshirt is maximally space efficient right? Zero gaps? Maybe it just reduces wrinkles...

    • @HumbleWooper
      @HumbleWooper 5 месяцев назад +1

      It doesn't save much if any space, but it does reduce wrinkles. Plus it makes the suitcase/bag easier to dig through for a specific item without *adding* wrinkles or needing to re-fold anything.

    I used to fly A LOT and I can agree with the soft suitcase. I hated having to gate check my bag (I've had baggage handlers steal from my gate checked bag). So I got a 2nd suitcase that fits in EVERY overhead bin. I often had to sneak it by the bag n*zi flight attendant, but when ever they'd confront me that it didn't fit I'd shove it into the over head with the comment "It fits!" You can't do that with hard suitcases!

    • @chrisdonnell7200
      @chrisdonnell7200 5 месяцев назад

      The last dozen flights I've gotten on, they were gate checking halfway through the flight and by the time I boarded near the end the rear third of the plane was still half open. I don't know if it's just the flight attendants not communicating and just defaulting to gate checking or what, but it's kind of annoying.

    My best hacks: 1. use a folder for piles of paper to store ironed shirts. 2. Bring extra underwear in your carry on 3. Be nice to the staff at the airport, especially when everything goes wrong. It’s not their fault.

    Indeed not only are they near impossible to destroy but I even found out that even the tiny ariport that did damage mine had a contract with Rimowa and instantly shipped a replacement and on-site in Cologne they would have repaired it for free while giving me the remote for the TV, a coffee machine and a comfortable sofa to wait.

    Keep a couple Powerbars in your bag. Great for when you get stuck, delayed, or arrive when room service is closed. And a club sandwich is my go to hotel food, but beware in the UK - some places put egg salad on it.

    I like that Adam mentioned the importance of interfaces being simple and for the designers to no forget their utility. It feels like an increasingly common thing these days with the rise of AI implementation in devices. Those technological failures to function properly and as requested while operating a mass of material, surely gets people killed, as silly as that sounds.

    Yeah, one can spend up to 10 grand for a single Rimowa luggage, average maybe 2 grand. Or buy some vintage Samsonite for like 50 bucks. I'm still using my grandparent's Samsonite from 1969 (I'm 60). Indestructible, they even have wheels.

    • @mlykke
      @mlykke 5 месяцев назад

      A Rimowa suitcase is expensive but it's nowhere near that expensive. The polycarbonate carry-on is around 670 eur or 700 USD. The aluminum version being around 1000 USD.

    • @Drew_Snydermann
      @Drew_Snydermann 5 месяцев назад

      @@mlykke I just scanned their website quickly and estimated two grand averaged out. I'm sure some are cheaper, there are many over $2,000. Maybe $1000-$2000 average is closer.

    • @mlykke
      @mlykke 5 месяцев назад

      @@Drew_Snydermann The two typical Rimowa suitcases for cabin bags is either to Classic alu which is 1400-1500 USD and the poly which is 850-900 USD. Thats from the Rimowa website, but in reality you don't buy them direct from them so prices will be lower. The large checkin cases are 1150-1800. So overall a fair bit cheaper than your 2K average or your 10K claim, which was my point. They are expensive, but not that expensive. Just because they make some custom/limited models which are super expensive, doesn't mean the rest is crazy.

    • @Drew_Snydermann
      @Drew_Snydermann 5 месяцев назад

      @@mlykke Even $500 for a suitcase is crazy to me. $500++ so the airlines can beat the hell out of it for you? Been using the $50 Samsonite since 1969 and still going strong. Rich people . . . .

    • @mlykke
      @mlykke 5 месяцев назад

      @@Drew_Snydermann First of all a Samsonite suitcase costs quite a bit more than 50 USD today. Second, old suitcases are usually quite heavy and with airlines lowering the weight limits, especially for carry-on that requires lighter suitcases.
      I'm not saying you should buy a Rimowa, but 500 USD in 2024 isn't really that much. It's just a matter what you prioritize.

    A great air travel hack I use is carrying a usb c 10 in 1 explorer edition dockcase hub along with using an S23 Ultra as my main everyday phone.
    When i go to hotels i can just take an hdmi cable from the back of the tv, or bring my own, plug it into the hub and plug that into my phone.
    Instantly turns it into a laptop using samsung Dex meaning i have just unlocked all my streaming sites and games available on my phone.
    If you want extra usability a thin bluetooth keyboard, mouse and a small controller like the switch joycons (they work with android) means you can have a home theatre experience in any hotel
