HYDRO VICTORIA - The Fly Effect: A Sustainable Feed Solution

We continue our journey in Kenya visiting Hydro Victoria Fish Farm & Hatchery, a business that has found a sustainable solution to the rising costs and inaccessibility of animal feed for farmers across East Africa - the black soldier fly!
Led by Founder & CEO, Fred Juma, Hydro Victoria is working hard to support the farmers, local businesses, and marginalised members of his community by building an ecosystem that everyone can play a part in. As well as getting out and seeing Lake Victoria's fish farms up close, the filming of this episode also introduced us to a number of Fred's industry partners who all had so many wonderful things to say about the drive and ambition Fred is bringing to improving the aquaculture sector through collaboration, hard work and openness.
It really was our pleasure to be able to capture this story of sustainable innovation and we hope you enjoy learning more about the staggering difference the black soldier fly could have to not only our environment but the livelihoods of farmers like Fred.
