Relationship between Japan and Korea is not good, but interestingly Many Japaneses and Koreans share their love. Actually there are many Japan-Korea couple youtubers. Hahaha!!!!
As an adopted Korean I show this to people and tell them this is how I was raised...the sad thing is they think I'm serious. I was raised by the nice couple that likes Seinfeld and Taylor hicks
To all those offended by the rising sun flag, I get it. I'm also Korean, but first of all, this skit is making fun of Americans who stupidly appropriate oriental traditions. Second, you may be offended because they are using the old flag, but freedom of expression is one of the most valued rights. We see confederate flags and even some neo-nazi swastikas but we don't prosecute them based on their values, we just ignore them. Last, it's just a skit from an old tv show, get off your high horse and just move along.
It's pretty funny tbh. I see it as a sorta commentary on the fetishism of Asian cultures in America; mainly how people are uninformed of or glorify them. And how some people who try to be as politically correct as possible end up looking racist themselves. But that's just me, friend
Marry me. I'm Caucasian and you Asian. Together we make beautiful baby and you teach it math, violin and karate. You cook me fried rice and poo poo platter every night. What say you?
the MADtv cast its like a comedy dream team which will never ever happen again in a million years. they r SO FUCKIN good!!! Christa Mo Stephanie Peele n Keys Michael Aries Debra Will n everyone else
Man its crazy to think how half of madtv would not air these days. Maybe it's a good thing the sun set for the show when it did because of the PC police and how on edge everyone is
I don't even believe in that comment anymore. I said that when I was dipping my toes into anti-sjw garbage. Yeah you're right people would understand the context
haha guys loosen up; The moment someone takes a parody seriously, the comedy that is supposed to be portrayed is immediately over. The parents obviously combine the many asian cultures, such as the karate dad, japanese accent mother, dimsum platter on the table and such to over exemplify their passive racism. But now that the joke is explained, its just not quite as funny anymore.
Well I am Korean, and I think the skit is pointing about lack of understandings of Westerns on Asian Culture. We all know how poorly Asia is depicted on Hollywood films. Well, can't blame you because until 90's, Asians thought all Caucasians were Anglo Saxon with blond hair and blue eyes.
Right?! I keep hoping this age of being overly politically correct so no one gets upset will go away. Cant say a word without someone being offended anymore. They should all just put a pair of ear plugs in their ears. That would never work tho bc they love being offended and arguing about it to whoever listens. Ugh!!!
Haha this is funny...especially the whole "mixing cultures bc they are all the same" thing. Wearing kimono's, having chinese decorations on the walls, but saying they are korean...
Love how each family member is a different Asian Culture.
It's so *inclusive* 🤣😂
*different Asian stereotype
I always come back to this skit, so freakin hilarious
It seems the jokes in this went over a lot of peoples heads. I think the madtv cast know what korean is and isnt. That was the point.
A korean son, a japanese parents and a chinese grandpa, what a nice way to live 😂
"What?! You think we Chinese or something? All Asian rook a rike to you?" I'm in tears. Totally forgot about this skit.
Arr
Madtv doesn’t discriminate, they made fun of anything, anybody. So good.
They made fun of stereotypes themselves.
This is why the MadTV Reboot couldn't last in these Woke Times
As an Asian, I approve this comedy skit. HAHAHA!!! "These are not pressed-on nails! These are tin foil, I sprayed 'em GOLD!" BUHAHAHA!!!!
spray-paint gold.
This is one of my favorites. "What, you think all Asian rook alike!?"
Arike* xD
Of course it is...
Aaand what? you think we're chinese or something!!!
"Ar Asians rook arike to u?"
Mom's Japanese, Dad's Korean, and Granddad's Chinese. XD
JohnathanLeeSprite things must be awkward at thanksgiving
아버님이 한국분이시고, 어머님이 일본분이시군요. 한일 혼혈이 상당히 많더라고요.
Relationship between Japan and Korea is not good, but interestingly Many Japaneses and Koreans share their love. Actually there are many Japan-Korea couple youtubers. Hahaha!!!!
Can we acknowledge the grandpa’s dedication to character, even after being called out for his nails? That’s love for family.
One of the best skits they ever did.
i died when grandpa showed up
I have been here the whole time!
Dr. Fu Man-Chu
He didn't "showed up" he was there the whole time!
When she opened the door I was completely surprised! Comic genius!
congratulations! almost all of you missed the joke.
always keep this in mind: "almost all of them" are fuckin retarded". so...
@@Numinor31 I'm pretty sure you're someone else's "One of them..."
Ohh man Bobby Lee can't help but crack up at this. I don't know how the others didn't break character.
As an adopted Korean I show this to people and tell them this is how I was raised...the sad thing is they think I'm serious. I was raised by the nice couple that likes Seinfeld and Taylor hicks
Making fun of stereotypes is always funny. Grandpa is freaking hilarious.
This skit is so random, even Bobby is laughing doing it.
so many wonderful lines loool "arr asians rook arike to you!?" "dees not press-on nairs, dis tin-foir i spraypaint gold!" "you cant scoop vanilla ice cream wit chopsticks."
To all those offended by the rising sun flag, I get it. I'm also Korean, but first of all, this skit is making fun of Americans who stupidly appropriate oriental traditions. I didn't feel that this was offending Asian...
Well said.
It isn't exclusive to Americans. That's just your anti-American prejudice.
It's just a joke. Anyone offended can get fucked.
WHY DO YOU HATE WHITE PEOPLE SO MUCH, HARRY???
Grandpa has me on stitches, all these people are so talented, I would love to see more of them in comedy shows😅😅😅😅😅
does she say Hyundai son???
Duder
She said Hyundai-san. His name is Hyundai.
thats funny how they say they are Korean, but dressed up like Japanaese, have Chinese food, Thai nail, etc,. etc,.
So you got the joke. Congrats.
"And beside you cannot scoop vanilla ice cream with chopsticks" dude that is the most fine double edge sword of a word hahaha
mad tv actor memorizes their line, SNL actor just look at the prompter
"She's not acceptable. She not Korean."
I heard from my Korean friends that their parents are actually like that.
"I have been here the whole time."
fuuucking grandpa!!!!! I can't! honestly, this was so funny, and I'm Asian AF!
Dude its a joke!!! This is why comedy can't survive anymore. Too much PC. Hopefully after a year of president Trump we can kill PC once and for all.
Chris Kouyoumjan uhmm... did you not understand my comment? I clearly thought this skit was funny AF!
What do you expect a Trump supporter to understand lol
"Ortiz" is not an asian last name.....so you are not really asian......maybe half asian is better believable gurl
This is one of the funniest skits I've seen!
THIS IS BRILLIANT ON SO MANY LEVELS...
His mother had me laughing, then when his grandfather came out with the gold fingers, I lost it.😂 Hell yea, MadTV.
2:48 Oh... So that's where Jordan Peele got the idea for Get Out
I love when Bobby laughs as soon as his mom greets him. lol!
OMG, the nails KILLED me!! X'D
Remembered this sketch & how it would never fly today🤣
When I heard Michael McDonald at 1:40, I almost fell out of my seat with laughter. He just made it so much better. "I have been here da whole time!"
I love the parents at the end
This will have to be my favorite skit😂
I'm still not over this skit 😂
Parents wearing Japanese clothing but are Korean. The grandfather is Chinese lmao
I swear people be so god damn SENSITIVE
This is so wrong in so many levels and that makes this skit perfect
^ Yep!! The incorrectness IS the point!! Glad someone gets it.
Except for Bobby Lee, everything is other east asian country. Funny.
I'm Asian but I'm all cool bout it it's funny! You gotta learn to chill guys. Its just a joke!
This almost makes fun of white people more.
Man its crazy to think how half of madtv would not air these days. Maybe it's a good thing the sun set for the show when it did because of the PC police and how on edge everyone is
The fingernails part got me the most hahahahhahahahaha
They really went all the way with the R and L switch....i'm dead
"This is tinfoil I spray paint gold!"
Comedy genius.
Can you imagine if this sketch was made today? Lmao
I was waiting for Ms Swan to show up!
This skit has such a cute ending!
Not race detector lmaooooo this is so good
"She is not acceptable . . . she not Kereean..."
The way Bobby keeps cracking up🤣😭
"they are not really dressed as koreans" WELL EXCUSE ME RACE DETECTIVE
top 5 best skits of all time. They were risky, but they kept coming with the heat. consistent jokes. in n out comedy
oh man if this came out today the uproar would be unimaginable.
lol i remembered the hashtag #mycultureisnotyourpromdress
I don't even believe in that comment anymore. I said that when I was dipping my toes into anti-sjw garbage. Yeah you're right people would understand the context
"2:49...stach inn 'tveen jovr fesstiw bans."
OMG I never even saw this one on TV!! Brilliant!!
The purpose of the sketch isn't to make fun of asian culture. It's to make fun of asian stereotypes and how people view other cultures.
haha guys loosen up; The moment someone takes a parody seriously, the comedy that is supposed to be portrayed is immediately over. The parents obviously combine the many asian cultures, such as the karate dad, japanese accent mother, dimsum platter on the table and such to over exemplify their passive racism. But now that the joke is explained, its just not quite as funny anymore.
People getting butthurt easily nowadays.
I like how the stereotypical white is a Minnesotan.
Remember when comedy could make us laugh at ourselves AND other people?
^ I sure as hell do..
I lost it when grandpa came out
Well I am Korean, and I think the skit is pointing about lack of understandings of Westerns on Asian Culture. We all know how poorly Asia is depicted on Hollywood films. Well, can't blame you because until 90's, Asians thought all Caucasians were Anglo Saxon with blond hair and blue eyes.
안녕하세요. 저도 같은 한국사람입니다. 여기서 동포분을 보니 반갑네요.
By far one of the best skits !
Bobby lee is awesome. I agree long live old mad tv
love the twist at the end
This is still hilarious 100 years later
"0:52 Liihts Avt, ewrjbodj. Itt issz laetr than jov think."
This family watches way too much Akira Kurasawa movies
No way in hell are they that cultured.
Tronathon242 You don't have to be cultured to know Kurasawa because his films are iconic and constantly referenced and copied by American filmmakers
the martial art in there is Tae-Kwon-Do which is Korean.
"Crazy Rich Asian" in 3 minutes.
Oh my sweet god I was not prepared for grandpa!!
part of the joke..wearing kimonos and saying that they are koreans
oh I am sure they are so happy they have your approval, means the world to them
You can't make a joke nowadays without people getting offended or "triggered." It must be miserable taking things so seriously.
+Matt Shoe You said it!
thats fuckin right, everybody is so sensitive wtf is that
Right?! I keep hoping this age of being overly politically correct so no one gets upset will go away. Cant say a word without someone being offended anymore. They should all just put a pair of ear plugs in their ears. That would never work tho bc they love being offended and arguing about it to whoever listens. Ugh!!!
People been getting “triggered” since the dawn of humanity, get used to it buttercup.
It's so funny I can't watching without cringing.
That's the purpose; listen to their conversations :)
The clothes, setting, and almost everything is Japanese, not Korean. LOL
who else saw this on TV when it first came out and not on youtube
they got me at 'u think we chinese or something'
in these times.... this should be something to ponder upon.
Im Asian and I love this sketch.
Bobby Lee can't help but crack up in his skits xD
Saw the ending coming from a mile away
Granpa lol wtf hahahahahahaha
Haha this is funny...especially the whole "mixing cultures bc they are all the same" thing. Wearing kimono's, having chinese decorations on the walls, but saying they are korean...
Rachel Dolezal felt inspired by this
Damn, all these people pointing out the obvious... Bobby Lee is of Korean descent, don't you think he'd have told the writers they were mistaken?
THIS IS TIN FOIL I SPRAY PAY GOWD
I have been here the WHOOOOOOOLLEEEE TIMMMMMMMEEE
This is tin foil I spray paint gold. 😂

I am korean and I cannot find any common ground with my house! And Karate Man's hair band and old woman's costume is 100% JAPANESE
they are a Japanese not a korean
thats the joke
I wish my parents loved me as much as Bobby Lee's. They changed their ethnicity for him....
....Lucky Kraut!
midwestern black family was the best part because it was true. Madtv was funny as hell.
Genius skit... A+
When grandpa came out, I could not stop laughing! Michael McDonald is hilarious!
Actually the grandpa portrays "Dr. Fu Man-Chu".
"you can not scoop vanilla ice cream with chopsticks"
If only the world could take the piss like this skit.
This wouldn't be allowed on tv today :(
