      Always plan on doing that when I have enough cash, maybe not a Tomcat at first, bit definitely investing in restoring more Warbirds to flight status and other unique combat aircraft. Imagine a flying and fully restored B-36 Peacemaker............

      @@blairthandi7058 buying former Iranian Tomcats is possible. But bringing it to the air would have been a complex process, even if its military avionics were removed. This is due to the complex swing wing mechanism, and obtaining spare parts for TF30 engine.

      This is so cool to see old vintage F4 Phantoms along side F 14 Tomcats here in the USA you don't see them at air shows anymore very Few F 4 left in flyable condition and no Tomcats left due to them being destroyed in scrap shredders to prevent black market parts for Iran's remaining F 14s .

It is a real and special treat to see both legacy F 4 Phantoms and F 14 Tomcats flying together. Coming from an American, I understand that our countries have their differences and both our governments hate each other, but I seriously commend you Iranians for keeping your old cats flying.
    It's seriously very impressive and as an aviation hobbyist I would be ecstatic to see a functional Tomcat up close. I'm not old enough to remember Tomcats being in service in the US, but it makes me happy to see this one in such good shape cosmetically.
    It's also really neat to see the leading edge veins aren't welded shut and still work! They were notoriously unreliable and deemed unnecessary on the B model, so they were removed from future airframes completely.

      Tomcat has become the symbol of Iranian resistance in its war with Iraq when 80 other countries, including US & Russia, actively supported Iraq. Iranian aces used this marvel of technology to its best and succeeded. Iranians have a special affinity with F-14.

    • @naeemahmed5236
      @naeemahmed5236 Месяц назад +2

      The leading edge glove veins enabled the Tomcat to pull high g manoeuvres at high speed (>M2.0) and formed an integral part of its design and indeed purpose. They are complex and require high maintenance hours, the fact the US did away with the glove veins on the B and D models was a travesty!

From what I've heard, the Iranians have been able to manufacture some parts themselves. As cool as it would be to have F-14s upgraded with Saturn AL-31 or Shenyang WS-10 engines, it'll probably be unlikely as they're replaced with the SU-33 in the future.

      Thanks to the "infinite wisdom" of ex-US President Jimmy Carter, Iran is the way it is today, since 1979, with all of the US supplied military equipment in the hands of the ayatollahs.
      People forget that, before then, the IIAF pilots were trained in the US, to operate these types of aircraft shown in this video.

    • @5aban1340

      @@cameronma7408 Oil money is not enough to acquire sophisticated machinery like the F-14A Tomcat and all the support mechanism that is needed to maintain them. The Shah had the knowledge and stature to be in that position. I therefore disagree with your comment.

      @@johnusa3150 There is no doubt in my mind that Jimmy Carter stabbed our dear Shah in the back. I don't think that even Carter realised what kind of evil was unleashed by allowing Khomeini to come into prominence. I feel that the downfall of the wretched Islamic republic will happen in the next 12 months.

    Ja, ja, ja. Nice airshow but, are they ready for combat? Probably not. Just for show.
    Iran still has some of the stuff that Iraqi pilots escaped into Iran with, during the Gulf war. Some Mirages, some Su-22s, Su-24's, and others. Iran should ask Russia for assistance in making them combat capable and then use them to probe with when things get really hot over there. At some point, the F-14's and F-4's will have to be committed and there's no evidence that Iran's current pilots have the experience or the mettle to make full use them in a hot war.
