This is so cool to see old vintage F4 Phantoms along side F 14 Tomcats here in the USA you don't see them at air shows anymore very Few F 4 left in flyable condition and no Tomcats left due to them being destroyed in scrap shredders to prevent black market parts for Iran's remaining F 14s .

It is a real and special treat to see both legacy F 4 Phantoms and F 14 Tomcats flying together. Here in the US you dont get to see these kinds of aircraft flying anymore as they have been long retired. Great footage and in high def !

Coming from an American, I understand that our countries have their differences and both our governments hate each other, but I seriously commend you Iranians for keeping your old cats flying. It's seriously very impressive and as an aviation hobbyist I would be ecstatic to see a functional Tomcat up close. I'm not old enough to remember Tomcats being in service in the US, but it makes me happy to see this one in such good shape cosmetically. It's also really neat to see the leading edge veins aren't welded shut and still work! They were notoriously unreliable and deemed unnecessary on the B model, so they were removed from future airframes completely.
Tomcat has become the symbol of Iranian resistance in its war with Iraq when 80 other countries, including US & Russia, actively supported Iraq. Iranian aces used this marvel of technology to its best and succeeded. Iranians have a special affinity with F-14.
The leading edge glove veins enabled the Tomcat to pull high g manoeuvres at high speed (>M2.0) and formed an integral part of its design and indeed purpose. They are complex and require high maintenance hours, the fact the US did away with the glove veins on the B and D models was a travesty!

Yeah, bout that. It won't be flying that long, and i mean it as in soon, cuz Iran is receiving those russian SU-30/35s and is going to replace it's old F-4s and F-14s with them but hey atleast we were the lucky ones to still be alive in an era where F-14s were flying.

They would have to buy parts from Iran I think Russia sells them engines for them probably not even GE engines anymore. The DOD destroyed all the parts and gutted the museum Tomcats of anything that could be used by Iran after some company got caught selling them parts about 15 years ago.

From what I've heard, the Iranians have been able to manufacture some parts themselves. As cool as it would be to have F-14s upgraded with Saturn AL-31 or Shenyang WS-10 engines, it'll probably be unlikely as they're replaced with the SU-33 in the future.
That would be financially supporting a hostile Government. Need to use a third-party proxy to make it happen and have deniability. A lot of money and trust just for an airshow demonstrator.

Last time I saw F-14 was 1992 Airshow when I lived in California. It was so loud pair of them few around the city of Salena's set off 100's of car alarms hear them honking all over the city.
Interesting that the F-14's still have their glove vanes activated, the US Navy had there's deactivated for being overly complex and maintenance intensive.
I saw news story Russians are supporting them now I don't even think they have GE engines in them Russians didn't know how to work on those GE engines. Usually Russian jet engines are super smoky one thing look for smoke trails when tracking down a Russian fighter.
Only came here to see a Tomcat still flying. Sadly, that thing is probably a few flight hours away from just dropping out of the sky.............even the Phantoms were hardly being pushed, for fear of the same reasons............
Our F4 and F14 fighters are something else, with new indigenous radar and avionics, full digital cockpit and full range new missile's, this fighters had huge updates

Turkey, IIRC, also has some legacy jets still flying. I think it's important to keep some non-combatant antique aircraft around as a flying museum.

People forget that, before then, the IIAF pilots were trained in the US, to operate these types of aircraft shown in this video.

Ja, ja, ja. Nice airshow but, are they ready for combat? Probably not. Just for show. Iran still has some of the stuff that Iraqi pilots escaped into Iran with, during the Gulf war. Some Mirages, some Su-22s, Su-24's, and others. Iran should ask Russia for assistance in making them combat capable and then use them to probe with when things get really hot over there. At some point, the F-14's and F-4's will have to be committed and there's no evidence that Iran's current pilots have the experience or the mettle to make full use them in a hot war.

Reversed engineering for the F-14. Black Market through UAE and Israel (mostly) for the F-4E. Yes, (big) money is the point for some...
