the clarinet is the most underappreciated woodwind instrument of them all.

I still love the clarinet though. It is my main instrument along side the Bass Clar. and the Trumpet

i don't agree. The clarinet is one of the most known instruments along with the trumpet and violin. It's one of the first instruments that comes to mind by people who don't know a lot about music themselves. It's a beautiful instrument, i agree, but in my opinion, the oboe takes the lead for the most underappreciated woodwind instrument.

most people dont know what a bass clarinet is(i have to sing them tchaikovsky...) but i think the soprano one is pretty much known by everyone

#BassClarinetLivesMatter!! XD I would have to say that the bass clarinet is, by far, one of the lesser known woodwind instruments. Also, I haven't the slightest clue why, but people seem to have a general dislike toward it. I'm not too sure why. I've loved playing it, and it has one of the greatest ranges among all instruments, not to mention, its tone is gorgeous.

Joshua Hirtle you can thank spongebob for characterizing the instrament in a negative light as well as giving it a horrible and inaccurate sound. that my best guess anyway lol.

I remember this piece was one of the reasons that led me to choose clarinet when i was a kid. I play the clarinet for 8 years now and it's really touching to hear it again. Thanks from France !

Very nice! I just got started as an adult learner on the clarinet and it's awesome to see such great performances -- it inspires one to practice with more focus just to be able to play like that someday!

the greatest mystery that no one can explain to me: Why are Oboists allowed to play vibrato in Classical music...but Clarinetists aren't? It's silly to 'handicap' the Clarinet by omitting the vibrato. Heck...violins, Violas and Cellos also are allowed to be played with Vibrato. why the prejudice against Clarinet?? If you say Yes...Clarinetists are allowed to use Vibrato as much as Oboists in CLASSICAL MUSIC ... pls show me a few videos to prove to me. I bet none of you can.
