The wire winch i had was a cheapy that i got for free so thats what i started with but i was noticing metal shavings coming off of the wire rope and there was no fail safe so i upgraded to chain hoist w fail safe. My hoist is overkill but it wasnt much to upgrade to next size which at time of install i was kinda regretting bc it was so big and bulky but it works great and i love it especially w wireless remote
Yours is the nicest lift I've seen on youtube. Was also looking at these "fall arrest systems" to see if they would help in the event of a catastrophic failure if humans are riding on the lift. One thought I had was to use a 3 strand rope and clip off about 6 feet above ground as you go up that way if something failed, the most you would fall would be 6 or so feet and a stretchy rope would catch you in a free fall. Other thoughts were to use a hand brake on some type of disk drum to stop the lift in the event of a free fall failure. Not sure how the prowinch is engineered. Maybe a braking system is not needed?
Thanks John. I spent a lot of time deciding how I wanted to design the elevator. The prowinch is supposed to have a safety brake in case of failure. Thats one reason why i picked it. It also had great reviews and the price was reasonable compared to others. I do not have stairs this is my only Means of getting into my attic.
@@squeakgt Where did you purchase your prowinch? I've been looking at them on Amazon and Ebay. I live on an island in the carribbean and am going to build and outdoor elevator to send up building supplies, equipment and possibly people to a second floor level.
@@Jhovan33 straight from pro winch. Please do ur self a favor and call them and order it through them directly. The eBay is a scam they do not have an ebay store. I found that out the hard way. So i would assume the same for amazon but not sure.
How do you like the overall size? Like you. Ive been watching a lot of videos on here as well. Ive modeled mine up in solidworks. Ive gone back and forth if i should go big or realistic. I'm leaning toward a setup like yours though. The u strut rails are a bargin for how much steel is right now.. Thanks for sharing. I'll have to post a video once I get mine started.

I love the size I decided on. I put a lot of car parts up in my attic. Cool im interested in seeing what you build!
¿ Como podría conseguir los planos del despiece ? ¿ Cuanto costaría?
