This is quite possibly the troop transport we took from Mannheim to Baumholder for bivouac training, because we went through alot of tunnels and even had to let a train hauling new cars through before we could even start our journey, how canny is that? Because I was there in 1967!
It does sound as though you traveled via this route back in 1967, it is still an important freight artery, I hope it bought back good memories from those far off days.

Hello Tim! Always nice when you see the pictures of the Semmering Railway. I was there on a steam train 35 years ago. This route is unique. A challenge to build at the time. I wrote you something about it in the last video. Greetings Hans.👍🚂
Hello Hans, travelling over the Semmering Route by steam must have been quite a spectacle, something I would love to have seem. Constructing to line was a major achievement in the days before modern machinery was available. The craftsmanship and pride is still clear to see today in the viaducts bridges and station buildings. Best wishes. Tim.

Between Semmering and Breitenstein is a nice hiking trail called "Bahnwanderweg" (Literally translated: "train hiking trail"). It is about 10km long and is very nice and scenic. Next to the different viaducts there are large information boards showing useful information about the building process (in german and english). You might think it looked much shorter than 10km by the train - well, have a look at the map: imgur.com/gallery/QuC5g :-)
Thanks for making this. My friend in Austria I know will enjoy watching this. I shared with my train group too. Happy New Years my friend. God bless and keep you on your travels this year. After viewing again this was to say fantastic. Noticed the turntable at 25:09. Is the tunnel for trains to go thru mountains? Lots of work going on there.
