    Lots of petite clothing channels suggest to always leave some skin out when wearing ankle boots instead of covering the boots to look taller, I’m so confused 😩😩😩

    • @magnificalux
      @magnificalux Год назад +3

      I'm not following any petite-focused fashion channel, but I haven't been given advice like that from any fashion influencer that I've followed. They would advice against showing any skin when wearing ankle boots, even when wearing midi skirts, as it cuts off the leg and won't look flattering.

    • @dianagoss
      @dianagoss  Год назад +6

      Showing some skin with ankle boots create another horizontal line that cuts your legs. So whether you’re petite or not, it will shorten your legs.

    • @Maker.of.Mischief
      @Maker.of.Mischief Год назад +9

      I think there is a difference between being short and being petit, and this definitely has an effect on which approach is to be taken regarding the composition of an outfit. For instance with ankle boots and pant hems - if a person is slim, and also below average height, they can get away with either cuffing the pant or allowing a sliver of skin to show just above the top of the boot, in the same way an average height person can. However, if a person has a stockier frame, and is also below average height, they would benefit more from having no separation between the boot and the pant, with these preferably being of the same colour, to create a continuous visual path for the eye. The former body type can be thought of as essentially being a miniature version of an average height person, and so can follow similar compositional rules. Whereas the latter body type can be though of as being compacted / foreshortened, and therefore would need to employ compositional strategies that create an illusion of length. One body shape characteristic that differentiates a petit person from a short person would be their circumference vs. their inseam measurements. A body with an inseam measurement that exceeds the measurement of it’s circumference at its widest point will appear longer overall, regardless of actual total body height.

    Thanks for this video!
    I skipped almost the entire first part, as I don't wear sneakers (except in summer on vacation with shorts), or cowboy-style ankle boots. What interests me in autumn and winter are mainly boots. And I deeply deplore this fashion that even boots are worn too big, around the calf and ankle. I find it horrible. It looks like a heron hunting frogs in the water with fishing boots🤣. And having long, slender legs, I find myself 100 times more beautiful and elegant with boots fitted (max. 2 cm wider than my calf) to the shape of my legs. But this so-called trend is once again nothing more than a gimmick by the fashion industry to sell more.
    One size fits all, so the biggest among us - and they are the majority - can no longer complain about not finding boots they can fit in 🤨. And the others, fine and thin (or average) unfortunately cannot find anything else!! We try to persuade them that it's fashionable and that it's nice to wear everything (same problem with clothes) too big. Oversized! 😝

      You lucky one! Because in my opinion it's much more difficult since a few years to find fitted boots (max 2 cm larger than the calves and the ankles) if you have normal or thin calves. This new everything oversized trend (incl. too large boots) is made exactly for you larger women. Very frustrating for us slim ones. I deplore very much that the shoe industry doesn't produce boots in several calve sizes. From XS til XXL, just like clothing.

    • @JOJO-ug9ei
      @JOJO-ug9ei Год назад

      @@nelly8592 Now you know how annoying it's been for us ladies with larger calves FOR YEARS, and I'm not fat just taller than the average 5ft 4in woman! Even when I was younger they didn't make the boots long enough, so you'd get this unflattering strip of skin showing between the top of the boot and the hem of the skirt. Very ugly! I'm so happy I can now get into boots with my 24cm calves and get them long enough. However, I have slim ankles and don't like that oversized look around the ankles. Why don't you try Italian brands if you have slimmer calves? (I know this because my parents were in the shoe trade and ironically I could never fit into the boots they sold as a teenager!) I believe Carvela makes boots for a slimmer calf. However, Italian shoes also need a slimmer foot. If you have more cash to spend, try Duo Boots, they make them to size.
