I freaking love the Kiwi burst, it's what I wish the Anaconda was but man I'm right there with you on the binding...I know it's the mod collection but not only would some sort of greenish/brown binding made more sense than...blue, but it would have really finished the guitar off. What an awesome machine though!
That neck position sounds beautiful. You made some finger pinch harmonics that were killin' it, mostly done by touch, guitar practice and knowledge. Good news is the guitar and amp you used let us hear it well enough to know what it compares to.

Hi - I bought one of the Bengal Burst Axcess LPs last week from the Demo Shop ($5199 - the one with the uncovered black pickups). The "mod" that was disclosed was that the 490R/498T pickups that normally come on the Axcess were replaced with Duncan SH-1s (also called the "59"). So, I was super concerned that they used the 4-conductor version of the pickups. Which they didn't, and also didn't disclose as part of the "mods." They did the same thing to you on this Kiwi thing - on the "stock" Axcess, the volume controls are push-pulls that split the pickups. When you took off the back plate, same thing as mine - braided wire and replaced pots. Which is probably when they missed connecting the bridge ground back up and misaligned the numbers when they put the knobs back on. I'm surprised you didn't catch that the pots were swapped out and functionality of the guitar was significantly downgraded. When I ordered mine, I was right on it through messaging in Reverb and some guy Andy got back to me without answering the question. So, I sent a much longer message after I actually got the guitar and now crickets. For the $300 reduction in list price, it'll cost me $500 to restore the coil splits. I might as well have bought a new one... Or maybe I'm thinking they could send me the right wiring harness and 4-conductor pickups... You seem to have good luck in dealing with these guys regarding parts.
And another thing - which was the same as yours - no multitool, no strap - for $5K, it would seem that they could afford to put those in the case.
If you have a contact there (I left a message on the Customer Service line after 30 minutes of hold time) I would appreciate it.

The unconnected ground wire is not suprising to me. I brought a 2021 P-90 Goldtop from the Mod Shop a couple months ago, and they put in 2015 era Alnico Slug P-90's (though the description didn't state this) into a PCB board. The ground would not seat firmly in the clip in connection on the PCB board, and one of the tone pots had the split shaft bent when I pulled the tone knob off to put different knobs on. I felt like I truly got leftover B-stock parts in mine.
Happy New Year! You're taking me back to New Year's 1986 in EnZed (New Zealand). The red-brown skins are edible, too, and like everyone I met in the private hostels, I did eat one dinner of kiwifruits and experienced the sit-down runout later as they were so inexpensive compared to US and Canada prices. * Is there a wax or some other formulation polish that would provide some anti-static protection against the dust attraction? That red and green is subtle enough for this Christmas season. I like it!
With colour theory they prob just overspray all of it with the trans blue and that shades the guitar overall changing the org finish yellow center to green, the red to purplish brown and the white binding and inlays to strait blue.

For me anyway, you saved the best for last. This was my favorite guitar on your show for 2021! Something about it just calls to me. Except the price tag. I could never afford one of these. But it's fun to look at anyway.
I dig the blue on the headstock but it's too much on the binding and generally doesn't really look right with the green/red to me. Happy New Year!
I appreciate the review on this one, but also wish that I'd never seen it. This is the most awesome looking LP that I've ever seen. I know, this combo isn't for everybody, but I friggin' love it. After much searching, looks like I'll have a hard time ever finding one. What did they make, like 5? I am more of a bass collector, but would love to have this in my collection.

Gold goes with green but i think black hardware would have really set it off! You can also rub a dryer sheet on it to help with the static
Love the guitar but I've never had an issue with reaching the upper frets. Granted I'm a new LP owner but I can easily reach the low E on the 22nd fret.... Maybe cause I'm so used to extended range bass necks...
I don't usually like the color green, but that guitar is gorgeous! I'd prefer the Floyd Rose version, but I'd also rock your example as is. It also helped me get a better respect for Gibson-branded pickups. That guitar gave more evidence of why Gibson's humbuckers remain the gold standard.

Hey Charlie try taking some of that copper foil and shielding those pickups from each other and that might cause that dust situation to get a little more under control.

I think they kiwi burst came after they painted over the original stain. I think that someone put the blue finish over a cherry sunburst, and then someone saw it and thought it kind of looked like a kiwi.
While I agree, New Zealanders like calling themselves kiwis and thier flag also has blue on it....just thinking.

HNY Austin, I have to say I really liked this guitar. I am not a big Gibson fan. SG's, Flying V's, Explorers, Nahhhh Yuck .... I actually loved the colors on this one, and playing wise I liked the Van Halen tones. I think you got a good one there.

Interesting look. I like gold hardware. But I have to have gloss nitro finish on anything not a special or junior.
Love the comfort carves and that "Burst" is killer! Not a fan of the "blue" Widow treatment on this....I think it might have been cooler looking with red, to highlight that red if the burst.

Hey Trogly, there’s a n Ebony 1990 “Orville by Gibson” Firebird (it’s in the V configuration) on Reverb, but it’s in Sweden so the shipping cost is crazy, still interesting to see.
They chose Kiwi, because marketing would not approve “bloody booger”

that was a normal cherryburst and they just sprayed blue, thats why the yellow turned into green, and the red just got darker

100% it adds weight.
@@Masterfighterx figured, the amount of wood to match the weight of the entire Floyd system, the majority of the guitar would end up hollow.
I think the green is an abomination against those other colours, would have looked wicked in red and blue, there is a saying from the fashion world "Red and green should never be seen" and this is the only time I have agreed with that statement

Although the colors clash horrifically, I like it. Just cool to have a high end Les Paul Axcess with a funky load out. I have some traditional looking Les Pauls but I also have some funky ones (blue sparkle..etc). So I’m definitely not a hardcore traditionalist like most Les Paul beard strokers. I can appreciate the traditional look. But I’m also ok with unconventional colors and motifs. Cool guitar 🤘🏻
To me who is a now an Australian Kiwi I am seeing a take on NZ bush understorey colour with Paua Abalone in the headstock. Think green bush surrounded in blue pacific ocean maybe.

Man I freaking love it bro , that's the best Les I've seen yet , I dig that blue binding hard man!!! And the all accsses is it, they need to start doing that to all Thier production guitars and modernize them some man, cause all the other top brand companies are stepping Thier games up cause that's what is players like man, Ann legend brands like Gibby should really think about what the modern player wants man or they might get left in the dust in the next day5 to 10 years!!!!

Not that it matters and has anything to do with your guitar haha, The Chinese gooseberries you mentioned, we have ground cherries that are alike and grow all over the place here in Quebec, I'm sure they are everywhere else also. Happy New Year Troglodytes.
I'm not a fan of the modern versions of the Les Paul, for a number of reasons but I go the same way with Fender. As out there as this looks, I'm really thinking I may want one, or the other one with the P90 in the neck.

Agreed. I switched both of my Les Pauls over to the very early Burstbuckers that are unpotted.
I've tried 100 and 1 different pickups through the years and by chance got a hold of a early pair of the Burstbuckers and haven't looked back since.
