Just a little tip. Pump the accelerator and choke the carburetor. Don't constantly pump it while cranking.

Remove that 15/16 fitting at the carb inlet. there is supposed to be a spring and a sintered bronze filter in there. Be certian it is good . It dampens the fuel pump pulse and helps prevent follding. Really a good filter.

Having owned several of those GM trucks with the hyd clutch release. The best fix If found is to get a 63 thru 66 pedal Z bar linkage and bellhousing. and convert to mechanical linkage. Mechanical linkage never stops working. Then later when you decide to replace the torsion bar front end with a swapped crossmember and disk brakes from a 73 up square cab. you can upgrade to power brakes and dual master cyl.

You actually don't have to manually bleed the slave cylinder. Just fill your reservoir with fluid and crack the bleeder on the slave cylinder and let it gravity bleed until you get a steady stream.

So the first day you got the truck you started it with the old gas that was in it. That isn’t bad for the engine?

You are making a drama out of this, and it is going too slow. Gosh!
