I’m the exact opposite, when traveling!
I hyper-analyze what I might need and pack everything. That’s because I often went to places, where there was nothing available AND no shops around, or they were closed for several days. I also often had to improvise.

You don’t put luggage up in first class lol there’s no overhead bins
I’m not sure about the rules overseas but in the US, none of the air stewards help with your luggage because if they get hurt in the process (it sounds silly but it can definitely happen if they lift the luggage wrong) they can’t claim worker’s compensation. I believe they’re not “on the clock” until the doors officially close thus why they don’t do it. Now some may be nice enough to help if you physically can’t but most will say no and ask another passenger to help you out.
